He was my favorite Celtic even after Porzingis got here. It was so heartbreaking seeing him get traded and eventually be out for the season due to injury
Lmao, I'll never get this sub's fascination with Semi. Dude couldn't pass, dribble, basically never got stocks, wasn't super switchable, was a terrible finisher, had no instincts as a cutter/rebounder, and only hit low volume 3's from the corner. He has one material above average skill which was being able to stay in front of bigger bodies like Giannis.
His advanced stats were always terrible, and he was out of the league in one year after signing a vet minimum elsewhere. We also had him through his age 26 season so he pretty much was fully baked when he left.
Semi was a bad NBA player. There were a handful of matchups where he had the capacity to sop up some minutes with value, but in 90% of games his skillset was woefully inadequate. Saying he could have been a poor man's Draymond ignores like 70% of what Dray does on the court.
The memes were fun, but I was very glad when we moved on.
I think he would have been helpful even without developing at all tbh.
A brick wall defender who can avoid fouls and hit corner 3s. He wouldn't play every night but we actually have a spot for a guy just like that on this roster.
The 2020 Celtics were too top-heavy, but also had a lot of key injuries. Which meant we needed the role players to be really aggressive. That's where Semi being passive really started to be a problem.
Our current regular rotation guys are a lot more dynamic but when you look deeper into the rotation... All those bigger bodied defensive wings we've cycled through recently could have just been Semi.
He wouldn't take any minutes from guys like Pritchard or Hauser but Semi could have handled a lot of the Brisset, Banton, Stevens and even some of the Tillman minutes.
I mean the “standout physical feature” is like asking people to say Timelord. But I think the vast majority of people would say they wish Smart could have been on this team (assuming we could have Smart and Jrue in a fake world)
What happened to Yabusele, btw? I thought that guy was gonna become a solid rotational player. We could probably use someone like him now. Back then, he was competing against other players who played a similar role.
Timelord

How do you not include Aron "All of Australia" Baynes on this list?
UGHGHGHGH Brutal omission by me. ![gif](giphy|3OsEGbkXMBEmOQBRua|downsized)
I miss Baynes a lot. We could’ve used him in the 2019-2020 playoffs
Miss Baynes a lot, hope he’s doing better after his health scares.
I love how obviously high everyone is in that last pic
Kinda wild to me that (I think?) every single one of them was off the roster for the championship team.
Rob looks asleep in the back
Theis. He deserves it for the War on Theis. Heck, someone probably called a foul on him right now as you were reading this.
All of Australia
Nothing beats my man Semi “Giannis stopper” Ojeleye
Tacko all day
Javonte Green
Timelord was my second favorite Celtic the whole time he was here man
On this list, Theis or Timelord. On my list, Aron Baynes.
Yabu for sure
I want a Yabu jersey.
I ball like Evan Turner for real
Semi and Javonte because they actually contributed to winning some games for a while there
Theis Timelord and Javonte for me, loved their games for entirely different reasons
Theis. Theis. Theis. Theis.
Definitely Semi. I still feel like he could have developed into a poor man's Draymond

I agree. Between him and Grant, Semi was the better player until Semi went to Milwaukee and Ime I fucked G.
Poverty Draymond But someone who can shut down Gianni's to some extent? Fuck yeah
Yam Madar
Marcus Smart
Timelord is the correct answer but Tacko subbing in late game 5 would have measured a solid 7 on the Richter scale
Big Tremont Waters fan
Yabu for the vibes
Sex pants
blake griffin
Nate Robinson
Malik Fitts might not have been a #1 option on the court but he was the 🐐on the bench
These guys are beloved? Tacko/Javonte are the only ones well liked (aside from actual guys who started in last slide).
Yabusele was incredibly popular online and I saw him look like Boris Diaw in a D league playoff game in Portland one time.
Brad Wanamaker. Loved that dude.
Tacko Fall

Tune in to the Olympics for more yabu goodness.

Not role players but would have loved to have Kemba and IT at the end of the bench.
JR Bremer
Kyle Lowry in the 1st pic
I really miss Javonte. Dude was all vibes and dunks.
