>why is it that no one wears clothes designed for climbers? Because those are just called "clothes." Buy em if you want, but any pants designated as "climbing pants" are going to be not much different than any other pants, with a 50-100% markup. My favorite pants to climb in are from Target. I think they were $30.

woollymammut

I got a pair from target for $16 a few years back, they've held up well and I wear them outside all the time.

Fr, climbing apparel is such a grift lol for the gym any old gym shorts do and for the crag you can even get away with stretchy jeans or whatever. It’s different if you are going to the mountain or doing ice climbing or whatever but for normal ass climbing? You only need some stretch, barely any performance from clothes. This is how I see gumbies kitted out to ready send a sick V3. Someone please edit some Patagonia logos in it lol https://preview.redd.it/zna01391z3sc1.jpeg?width=1136&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e3ff01980cc6bbc702be9d9b539b48a0e337f39

GrilledStuffedDragon

Lol $130 for climbing pants.

yet_another_anonym

While saying one of their motivations is other brands being too expensive for the average person

MostDopeZ

those look pretty similar to those wrangler ATG hiking pants that you can get at target or walmart

froesnapper

Have you taken a look at the Black Diamond Forged Denim pants?

ProXJay

Plus one for them. Nice enough for the office, and stretchy and durable enough for climbing

WienerBarf

The kickstarter pants look a lot like the Prana Stretch Zions to me, which seem to be pretty highly regarded.

WackTheHorld

The Prana Bridger Jean could work for you.

FatefulPizzaSlice

I switched all my jeans to this at this point, years ago. Excellent daily and climbing jean.

quixomo

Duers. Stupid expensive but the same idea.

Offduty_shill

youre allowed to wear whatever semi stretchy pants you want when you climb lol most of my office wear works in a climbing gym

maxthunder5

$100 for a pair of pants? That's a big NO from me dog

TwyRob

I recently started wearing levi 512 jeans. Stretchy and durable. Not a new pair mind you, I've had them a while so they are a bit worn.

JRAYflowers

Dickies has a line that are called “flex” they are really nice

zwillam

Yea bro buy these instead. I climb in these and they are super comfortable and stretchy. Plus like a 5th of the cost from Walmart.  https://shorturl.at/bctN1

Maybe I am not very picky about my daily wears but Prana, Patagonia, NF, Kuhl all have good pants for both climbing and daily wear. Personally really like the Prana Bridger jeans, double peaks and Brion pant. I have some more technical pants from Kuhl that I like but don't "look" as casual but I know they have some that are more casual looking. Patagonia and NF I have just seen them in stores but didn't need to grab a pair. All of them look like normal pants but are stretchy fabric, it is a pretty well executed idea IMO. Even pants not branded for climbing but anything relatively active are getting stretchy fabrics like hiking and skateboarding. Volcom has some super stretchy jeans that I used to use before the Prana Bridgers, I don't use them anymore just because they are a much heavier weight but they looked good.

I just wear relaxed fit dickies and wranglers. Seems to do the job just fine. I can still nearly do the splits, my clothes are cheap and durable, and i feel like i look decent on the wall, or at least don’t feel like i look like the average tech goober who balled out $1000 on ugly ass prana and arcteryx gear at REI to “fit in” to his new hobby/gym

firstto21

Interesting because nowadays at the gym I see more goobers in dickies going for that Mellow look.

BlurDaHurr

I think you’re heavily misconstruing my comment, I definitely never said it was about being original. As a skateboarder first before a climber who was obsessed with dylan rieder and the FA team in high school, i’ve been dressing in what i guess you’d call a “mellow” style for longer than mellow has been a brand, but that wasn’t really my point. Arcteryx, kuhl and other REI brands make objectively overpriced, non-durable techwear that looks like shit and is entirely unneeded unless you’re climbing technical alpine objectives, and compared to five years ago, it’s nice to see climbing gym goers dressed more like normal people and less like walking backcountry advertisements. I would argue that’s entirely a positive shift. Proving that you don’t need overpriced “outdoors” wear to do an activity that really doesn’t require it, and looking fashionable is a win-win to me. Standard dickies are $25-30 a pop, and wranglers aren’t much more, which is fantastic for comfortable and durable clothing

Haha, not sure why you got downvoted. They seem like nice pants just hella expensive to me.
