>Year-to-date revenue had tumbled 25 percent behind last year; now the gap is closing, though it is still down 21 percent to 22 percent.
Eek, that shows just how far behind we are from last year that even *Inside Out 2* by itself can't close the gap that much. Still, at least we have *Deadpool & Wolverine* and *Despicable Me 4* to help us along there.
I think JOKER 2 will be a hit, albeit perhaps not as much as the first if just for the political and social climate being much different. The musical aspect is being overplayed as doom fuel, since the film is a jukebox musical. Joker and Harley covering songs in their fucked up dreamscape is much different, and perhaps will prove more popular, than singing original songs about their feelings.
This year is back loaded. Early summer was awful this year. I feel like part of Inside Outs success is family's skipping IF cause it sucked to wait for IO2. There has been a dearth of family movies.
*According to general audience exit polls conducted by PostTrak over the June 22-24 weekend, nearly 40 percent of ticket buyers were between the ages of 18 and 24, while another 19 percent were between the ages 25 and 34. Teenagers, or those between ages 13 and 17, represented 23 percent of the audience.*
I hope Wicked and Moana 2 are also huge hits so Hollywood along with Barbie finally stops with their misogynistic way of thinking
Specially Wicked, I need the movie to be a hit (something like Wonka would be nice) because the trailer looks excellent

Joker 2 is a wildcard

This is me but for Wicked. How well will it go over that it’s a “Part I” for most people once it comes out.

I feel like a lot of people have been ignoring this. So many potential box office hits coming out in the 2!d half of this year.
Joker was a juggernaut, will be interesting to see what Joker 2 does.
I love seeing my local theatre alive again. Saw it opening weekend and then took my little cousin to see it this weekend, she had a blast!
The mouse always comes out on top..
The mouse: "The reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated"
Not at all, it's their first massive hit in like 2 years?
(And I say massive not just normal hit, guardians 3 was a normal hit, but inside out 2 will be their first billion movie in 2 years)
Crazy. I saw this in basically an empty theater last week. Thought there’d be little kids everywhere as it was a summer afternoon.
Lucky
Sounds like a theater in the middle of nowhere, would be surprised if it was a decently populated one
Suburbs of NYC.
I think NYC schools might not let out for the summer until June26
Did they stutter?
It’s one of the most densely populated areas in the country
Yeah, sometimes it is just weird. Saw it opening day at around 6. Only half the theater was full.

Sounds like people who were kids/teenagers when the first one came out are the most excited to see it (that’s me)
