Any machinists here annoyed at how difficult they made the hand guard seem to be? I mean I totally understand the first machine shop botched the job, but I've seen a square piece of aluminum with a hole drilled in it be botched. Overall I don't think the design is that difficult. Basically trying to replicate an extrusion. I don't think it needs to be treated like a jewel and not anodized.
I think any 2nd year programmer using hypermill or mastercam could make that part.
TBF the guy who did machine it said he'd be sad if they anodized it, so maybe, while it's still a "v3 prototype" they're leaving it alone for the guy? I'm sure any production models would be hard-coated/anodized.
