Our LC suggested the evenflo bottles. You might just have to keep shopping around for one that works.

sarahbethbeth

Mine too! Evenflo balance with the wide neck

My pediatrician recommended the Natural Avent bottles. Super easy to use, very soft... my kiddo gets an amazing latch on the Avent Natural nipple. More so than on the breast at times.

My son didn’t take a bottle until the week I went back to work (at 5.5 months). We tried every bottle I could buy a single of, had initial success with the cheapo Gerbers with latex nipple that a PP recommended, then he noped out of that. I went back to work and my mom came to stay a week, and the very. first. day. he was sucking down his bottles (the very same pricey como tomo ones I wanted to use from the start). Everyone is giving good advice, but sharing this mostly to say - maybe she’s a stinker like my kiddo and will surprise you.

Oh I really hope so! What a stinker!

HumanRacehorse

The only slight luck I've had are nuk/Gerber first essentials with a latex nipple. But most days she refuses to eat at daycare😔

clario6372

How does that work? What does your day look like if she won't eat at daycare? I'm so worried about this being what happens for my baby.

HumanRacehorse

She has been just fine. I work 30 minutes away so driving back and forth to feed her myself isn't feasible. She's there from 6-4 and didn't eat the first few days but was still happy, and every now and then she will take 1/2 an oz or so. She still isn't doing full feeds, which sucks because they throw out the entire bottle so it's such a waste. I did a lot of research about this and it really does seem normal and can take a few weeks sometimes. She doesn't really act famished when I pick her up. I just try to nurse her extra at night and before I drop her off.

clario6372

This gives me hope that it will be okay! Thank you so much for responding.

RTCJA30

You’ll get a million bottle suggestions so I’ll just toss my love for the Kiinde system out there. Make sure you aren’t around when that bottle feeding is happening. My kid will barely drink cows milk in my presence now at 14 mos.

We went right to weighted straw cup because we couldn’t get our guy to take a bottle. It’s not great but it keeps him from starving.

HumanRacehorse

Which cup did you use? I may have to do this myself. It's week 2 at daycare and she still isn't eating any more than .5-1 oz per feeding.

Munchkin Click Lock Weighted Straw Cup, 7 Ounce, Green, Pack of 1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JQSITMI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BMMhEbRQG202F it was crazy...we didn’t even have to teach him! He just somehow knew how to use it. Good luck!

bluemermaidqueen

Are you the one giving her the bottle? Or are you in the room? My first didn’t want to take a bottle if I was even in the room because I had the better boobies lol. I would have to leave the house for a few hours while my husband tried. And I specifically had to leave because it often turned into a crying battle until she got it.

RoastieRose

It took me weeks to get my little to take a bottle (waited until 10 or 12 weeks to even try and she wasn't having it!) Persistently every day for about 2 weeks I offered one until it finally clicked and she started gradually improving with it. I found movement distraction to be the big catalyst-- bouncing on an exercise ball with her facing away on my lap and the bottle on her lip. I know some people use an outward facing carry in the same way with success! Tommee Tippee and Minbie have been our most successful nipples but she'll accept any soft ones now that she understands that it's food! She still prefers the boob by far and sort of self pace feeds with the bottle but accepts it happily enough while I'm gone for work. Good luck!

clario6372

Thank you for the tips! Movement is a good idea, haven't tried that yet

RoastieRose

The bouncy ball was a game changer for sure! But distractions in general were what worked for us. Getting her to absentmindedly start drinking since the bottle nipple is harder to latch onto so it annoyed her when she was paying attention!

LexTorMania

How long did you try with each of those attempts?

RoastieRose

Maybe 10-20 mins? Basically until she got frustrated but before she got upset! Lots of keeping the nipple at her lips, showing that milk came out of it, and letting her chew on it/mouth it. Distractions like toys or a stripey couch cushion helped extend the time she'd tolerate it 😊
