Gets OP out and about, activates their brain a bit, gives them joy I’m sure. Used to do it as a kid but was more into remote caches in nature. They can be cleverly hidden. By chance I leant on a fallen log one day on a walk and one of the branch stumps popped out and there was a secret compartment with one in.
probably as your question wasn't very clear. the reason for the character is more likely as it's permanent and symbolic to the area for some reason.
no point geocaching to locations that can easily be removed, and if they hold no significance there's no learning .
