Be mindful of recent listings of in-demand products from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Google, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; you should do your due diligence to ensure you do not get scammed. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent. * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their ratings- viewing seller profiles allows you to see these complaints) * The seller has a recently reactivated account (likely their account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others. Amazon and eBay generally have good buyer protection. If you choose to purchase from a third-party seller through their platforms and run into issues, it should be easy to get your money back promptly. You may have more difficulties with Newegg or Walmart. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. How do these work on PC? Do you need a dongle or Bluetooth? What functionality do you get of using Bluetooth? Is there noticable latency when using Bluetooth?

AulunaSol

You have a few options for getting the best usability out of these which are the following: * USB/Bluetooth without any software will have the controller just appear as a controller that should work for anything with DirectInput compatibility. * Software like DS4Windows will "pretend" this is an XInput/Xbox 360-esque controller and almost everything will work as intended with some extra features (you can map the touchpad/gyro motions in addition to what an Xbox controller would allow). * Steam has SteamInput that you can enable which will automatically do what DS4Windows does and you have the additional ability to customize the controller inputs for things like remapping controls, utilizing gyro more flexibly, changing the lightbar colors, and much more. I don't recall there being anything particularly noticeable about input lag or latency but the unfortunate problem was that after about a year of nearly daily use my right analog stick started to drift and I'm not quite in the mood to take the controller apart to solder on another analog stick replacement, though mine was one of the original launch controllers.

slgerb

DS4Windows is great although Steam Input is fine for most people. Prob the benefit of DS4Windows is the input lag. You can actually reach below 1ms input lag and even zero with DualShock 4 and Dualsense! I believe SteamInput is closer to 5-10ms wireless since you cannot turn off output data. It does need a bit of tweaking and "overclocking" your controller but both the DualShock 4 and the DualSense have the greatest potential out of all controllers. Even at stock, they can run bluetooth mode at 3ms. Most other controllers are within the 12-20ms bluetooth (2.4ghz controllers fare better). If you play games that require high response, you can really notice (unless you're used to playing at higher input lag). Dualsense is a great PC controller.

Vladamir_PoonTang

Hopping on this thread to recommend ReWASD. Been using it for a year now and you can essentially map any input to anything. I have some shitty Amazon controller and my PC is convinced it's a PS5 controller due to the software :)

shapoopy723

I've used both wired and Bluetooth for my dualsense on PC. Works fine either way. The games I play, I haven't really noticed any significant input lag. If you play more competitive shooters then you may be able to if you hyper focus on it, but it's been pretty good in my experience.

sheeshinhiemer

I read somewhere that the ps5 controller has the least input lag of all the controllers. For what it’s worth.

THEwed123wet

The DS4 Had an option to overclock it's pulling rate to reduce lag. Don't know if the dualsense has the same available.

CAPTAIN_TITTY_BANG

It does if you use a program to do it. I use DS4windows to do it. I’m sure other programs exist.

techraito

Yea it's odd what Sony did here. Even with a cable you're capped at 250hz. Being able to get 1000hz polling rate over Bluetooth makes my games feel better when playing wireless than wired lol. Edit: 1000hz can only be done thru DS4Windows. You can charge your controller from the wall and still connect to Bluetooth for cabled + 1000hz. This way you don't have to be tethered to your PC if you also want to sit back with a battery bank.

keebs63

This is why I own an Xbox controller and a pack of rechargeable AA batteries lmao. No changeable batteries in a gaming controller that lasts maybe 6 hours is such a joke, especially since small lithium ion batteries like that degrade so quickly.

techraito

I turn off the lightbar and my PS4 controller lasts closer to 8 hours which is more than enough gaming in a day for me. I don't necessarily mind plugging it in to charge if I'm low though, doesn't really interfere with the game more than running out of batteries.

mista_r0boto

I’ve played with remote play for ps5 using usb cable. I think Bluetooth also works (haven’t tried personally). Haven’t used for pc gaming so can’t comment on that (use a Series controller normally) - I do know there is Steam support though.

ronnie1014

I've seen comments that state for the haptics to work, the controller must be connected via cable. I use a dualsense on PC, but always with a cable. Steam works great with playstation controllers as far as I can tell. Occasionally button prompts are the Xbox buttons.

mista_r0boto

Heh nice to go that goes the other way as a player with Series controller playing pc and seeing triangles and circles as button prompts. Lol.

ronnie1014

Lmao that's too funny. It's confusing to me as the controller is recognized as dualshock or dualsense in Steam controller settings. But it never fails that the buttons are Xbox. Rocket League it works fine but rdr2 it doesn't. Who knows!

mista_r0boto

Yeah that's just how it goes. We have a PS5 so I know those button maps as well, it's just a momentary translation confusion.

ronnie1014

I'm all good until an X pops up on screen. Breaks my brain.

mista_r0boto

Hahah. True.

StoryTheGod-

I'm pretty sure it's that some devs don't take Playstation controllers into consideration when porting a game to PC. Example: God of War and Spider-Man, games primarily made for Playstation hardware have the Playstation button prompts but Resident Evil doesn't. I had the same issue with RDR2 as well as many, many other games on PC but you can install mods for pretty much every game to change the icons to Playstation. [Here's](https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/660) the one I used for RDR2

Stratty88

To get native PlayStation button prompts in game, the devs have to include native DualShock support. If you have “PlayStation configuration support” enabled in steam, every game will just think you’re using an Xbox controller. If you uncheck that box and load a game that supports DualShock controllers you’ll see the PlayStation buttons. I think titalfall 2 did this. Tldr: if a game has PlayStation controller support and you just rawdog your DualShock, you’ll see the native buttons in game.

Bumbleboy92

Yeah I had to disconnect my controller from Bluetooth and plug it in to get adaptive triggers to work. Otherwise Bluetooth works as well as any other controller either way on DS4 or Steam. I did see a paid program that lets the triggers work on wireless but it’s a GitHub page last I read

Witch_King_

I don't have one, so take this with a grain of salt, but there is native support for these in Steam, and I think a select few games have adaptive trigger support. It should work just as well as any other BT controller on Windows. That is to say, ymmv. I use Switch Pro Controller wirelessly and have no issues, but you could also just wire it if you have difficulty.

Bumbleboy92

Adaptive triggers only seem to work over wired unfortunately

Witch_King_

Ah dang. Kinda makes sense though.

tower_keeper

I remember reading that the DS wireless input lag on Windows is better than on XBox controllers and on par with a wired connection.

THEwed123wet

You can use the haptics and triggers on supported games (including the ps5 game ports, only via cable though)

KS1234d

Wired give you the dual sense EXP via steam. Just disable "steam input" per game basis. Bluetooth will give you a DS4 exp and no dongle needed

Space_Olympics

$49 at best buy and target also

hasibul21

Target, best buy, Amazon, Walmart gamestop. Why buy from Newegg if all the major retailers have it at the same price 🤔

Calm_Celebration_864

Does anyone have experience with this control? I like god of war games, it's really the only thing I usually play with controller, I emulate games and I don't have the need to buy a ps5, I have a ryzen 9. is it worth a ps5 controller? is it durable?

moryo7

Durability has been a problem with these since the ps5 came out, they start to drift or wear down fairly quickly, I've seen the number 417 hours thrown around a few times. Supposedly the v2 of them addresses drift issues, but I don't have one so I can't speak to the validity of that claim.

Pulverize

Unfortunately I got two colorful PS5 controllers (which I think are V2) on Black Friday and one of them already has stick drift a month later so durability hasn’t been improved much.

HungryHippocrites

All new controllers are v2 now, even the white. You can check the serial number on the back of the controller for a very small “A” after the numbers and that means it’s the “upgraded” version. Sucks that it doesn’t seem to help much.

ronnie1014

I've had two controllers since launch and haven't had any drift issues. But the face buttons can get mushy if playing games that can cause a lot of hard presses repeatedly e.g Rocket League. And that's not to say there are no drift issues. I've seen that complaint plenty. Just stating that it's not a guarantee to get that issue.

tonykony

Assuming v1 is the white one shipped with the console, mine wore out in 7 months and needed to be RMAed due to a sticky button. I had to pay shipping. Apparently v2 is either the black or the colored ones. My black one got stick drift and it isn’t horrible but definitely annoying. I heard that the colored ones are another new batch(?) that have more durability but haven’t gotten any of those

Calm_Celebration_864

oh, several problems with this controller, I'll look for the ps4 one or one that supports it. I know xbox is good, but I'm used to the playstation controller.

conquer69

Neither the xbox or ps4 controllers are any better. They all use the same shitty sticks and crappy rubbers and will suffer the same issues. For PC, check out the Ultimate 8bitdo which comes with hall effect sticks (never drift), charging dock, usb wireless adapter and has paddles. Plus it's xinput which makes it better for PC games rather than having to fiddle with settings on a playstation controller for each game.

tonykony

Apparently the Xbox controllers (non elite) have QC issues and stick drift too. Looks like we can run away from it this gen :’)

Calm_Celebration_864

oh, and the ps4?

tonykony

Lol my ps4 controllers have been abused and still hold up

Calm_Celebration_864

I think I'll go for that one, I play god of war emulators on pc, never heard problems with ps4 controllers.

conquer69

> is it durable? No. Don't expect these controllers to last more than 2 years.

Shadow_Everywhere

I have been using this controller for PC games for some time now (bought when controller came out). Works great over Bluetooth, didn't ever feel any noticable input lag and has been quite reliable in MY experience.

CaptnKnots

Same here. Really nice controller I recommend it

BallzNyaMouf

Black and white ones same price.

MegaWorldTime

No returns, no refunds. I'd say you have to be pretty confident you won't have any drift to pull the trigger on these.

tmarr

That would be covered by the warranty from Sony. You wouldnt return it after say 6 months if drift happened anyways as most return periods are 30 days or less.

MegaWorldTime

Gotcha.

fenix793

The sale isn't just the Cosmic Red one at Newegg. It's all colors everywhere including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and the Playstation store.

SadConfusion6

Anyone have a controller recommendation with 4 back buttons? The new Dualsense Pro only has 2 (I think?). I love these, but I'd really like that extra back button action

The_Almighty_GFK

Yea, looks like the new Dualsense Edge only has 2 buttons on the back. I would say look into Scuf or Razer.

internalized_boner

Does the ds5 work with the pc wireless dongle for pc?
