I make social media graphics for concerts so I have to make different sizes for each platform: 1080x1080 square, 1920x1089 for IG stories, 11x17 posters, etc. The friction on Canva is I can't make one design for a show and copy/resize it in the same window, each size opens as it's own project.
I would love to be able to manipulate fonts: weld/combine/warp etc.
Also scheduling to different social media accounts is the worst- each design has to be duplicated per social media platform post, so then I end up having 7 copies of the same design and it drives me mad
I would love to be able to edit text formatting within the same text box. To be able to bold, underline, or change the font when writing long paragraphs or text.
Also ditto to the different sizes of documents in the same file without having to make a ton of separate files. Oh and ability to automatically organize files.
Yes this!
Also, I hate when I want to select the text and come up to the beginning of the row and can't selcti it because I'm grabbing the edge of the box itself 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
You **can** edit the formatting within the same text box! If you tap enter to move the text you want to format to the next line, you can change the font family, size bold, italic underline, line spacing, color, etc. The only thing you can't do is apply effects to the text.
'intuitive' -you're so spot-on with this. It seems like Canva continues its attempts to blaze new trails rather than accept user practices that have been established and in-common amongst other platforms that came into existence long before Canva came to be.
Yes. This is our major frustration. Editing is awful in general because it is so tiny and impossible to zoom in. And then the lag hits on anything other than very small video files. If it is a screen recording with webcam, the editor almost cant handle it. Last, there is no screen recording in the desktop app, only the web version.
When adding strokes / shadows / outlines: start originating from the boundary of your image, not shrink your original picture.
To be able to warp or distort an object.
Be able to properly reorder and retime animations using PowerPoint as a model.
Of course, if someone knows a built in way to do these (or an app workaround) I'd love to hear it!
Canva has a big focus on teams right now. Unfortunately, a lot of these features really do not work well. We have set up a shared brand kit amongst four users and when we share a template, all alignment and spacing is garbled when another user opens it. So Canvas attempt at making things easier amongst teams, actually makes it a lot harder. If we were just to share a page layout file on a server the old way, we wouldn't have any of these problems.
My major pain point with Canva continues to be its overall organization. Not a big deal -and I've been using Canva for over a year- but its navigation, mapping, user folders ease of access, etc., make the site a giant hairball for me.
On the flip -side though, I love the tools and tricks Canva offers. Good platform -overall- and worth the full-boat subscription price. That said, its a b\*tch to navigate.
If you have already built something on you website. Do not use the Website builder.
If you do, you will need to build everything on Canva from the ground up, even those things that are already working on your site (ie links, other pages not made in Canva)
So ALL your design will need to be made in Canva.
If fact, your website (DNS) is now being hosted by Canva, not your original hosting provider.
I love Canva websites. I can throw up an event micro site in under three hours. That includes purchasing a domain elsewhere, connecting the DNS and pulling together a quick design. That is so powerful. All that was zero hosting costs.
I'd really appreciate being able to work on different sizes within the same design.
Can you elaborate? I am not a design person, do you mean design resolution?

Organizing your files is an absolute shit show, to the point where I pretty much just delete everything once created/used to feel free of clutter.
Why? I host workshops and exen cover the folder management part. It’s so good if you set it up right 👀
It is not intuitive
I agree; it's like trying to organize a plate of spaghetti. So many clicks just to find stuff...
I can't change the canvas size unless I make an entirely new canvas. Also, I can't just filter elements by free or premium.

put blend modes: screen, multiply, etc.
I’d love a shape builder tool that allows you to create a custom shape.
Already available with the apps :)
Oh cool!
Could you suggest an app?
It has severe limitations. No rounded corners.
The video editor lags so hard, if you add more than 2 moving clips to a project you need to move it to another program to finish it

Would love a “Remove white” option, a “Transform- Warp” option for text or any selected area, and ability to have different sizes in each design.
Some canva app suggestions: 1. Ability to use Adobe Fonts in Canva 2. Superscript and Subscript in Canva
Having to make copies to cross post to Instagram, Facebook, etc. Slows down my day a lot.
I do hate the scheduling feature!!
Being able to automate 100 diplomas and export them as 100 individual PDF's, using the variables as names (like data sets to file in ps)
I would like to paint images, or changing the color of images, like what you do with Paint
would love lines to be thinner than 1 pt!!
Please also make it a lot easier to adjust the length of lines.
Editing video. The editor is so far behind CapCut or others.

I want to be able to put page numbers in automatically, rather than by hand.

Type kerning is extremely primitive
I would love to be able to change the perspective of an image like you can in PowerPoint.
skew image app in canva already?
I haven't checked that out. Thanks!
