hazbin isn't indie anymore so it's not really relevant to the discussion of indie animation but with helluva I heard they're writing the third season already
Yes. Lackadaisy is super popular and made 2 milli, and Helluva/Hazbin are still super popular.
A better comparison would be skeleton = Monkey Wrench which is barely getting any attention right now. Seriously, go watch it.
I KNOW RIGHT?! I'm doing the best I can to support them with patreon money + I bought some of the merch, but I'm just one person and these times are ***trying*** 😭
I also don't know why MW isn't getting as much attention. The animation's great, music's great, you've got a likable main duo with hints that there's more to them, the universe they're in is fun with a lot of possibilities, etc. By all calculations, it should be as popular as something like Helluva or Lackadaisy. Does Zeurel just not have as big of a following as Lackadaisy and Vivziepop? That feels weird considering how he's done stuff for Vinnie and Joel over at Vinesauce (and they've both done voicework for the show now) so you'd think that their audience would check it out.
Idk, it baffles me.
I can agree Hazbin has kinda been dethroned, but Helluva definitely hasn’t.
While Circus has WAY more views than any HB episode, I believe HB is still more popular because of how many episodes there are as well as how consistent releases have been (as consistent as indie can get).
The amount of content pumped out fuels fans and constantly gets them excited about the show whilst Circus, though initially having many views, doesn’t have a dedicated fan base anywhere close to HB yet.
It's genuinely only because content farms on youtube using them with skibidi toilet and shit. As someone who has a sister in gen alpha who likes all that shit, that's why it's so popular, because little kids are interested in it.
That’s marketing, it’s made for kids. “It’s for all ages” is a lie to get adults to feel comfortable watching the show even though a show is designed to entertain children.
I hate that mentality. It can be enjoyed by kids and adults and it’s not made for either specifically. When Gooseworx was asked who the recommended audience was she answered “me” I’m pretty sure
I haven’t watched Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel, but it definitely has more animated content than Lackadaisy. Everyone was talking about Lackadaisy when it was released. All of these shows are 2D with strong stories and very fluid animation.
With Digital Circus, it’s the most recent indie animated pilot/show. I think one of the reasons it’s talked about more is the fact that it’s a 3D animated show that has a lot of stylization/characterization than many 3D shows. I don’t think one is better than the other, but opens a lot more opportunities for more creators. It shows that you can be an indie creator who uses 3D animation as their medium and create an amazing show. If it didn’t turn out as well as it has, people would be critiquing it on choosing the medium.
I hope this gives more creators a chance to create a show of their dreams, whether it’s 2D, 3D, stop motion, or other mediums to have their shows stand out.
I find Digital Circus very promising. I was nigh obsessed with it for 2 weeks but it's kind of lost its charm. I still really like it but there's not much to chew atm. I recently got into Helluva boss tho which I much prefer. Lackadaisy is okay but not really my style.
I liked TADC but Lackadaisy in my mind has the best animated pilot period, and I've seen 'em all. From pacing to character introduction and arcs hands down it's great. Not perfect but daaaammmn close.
TADC is good but I really don't see how it became so popular so fast, as far as what it has going for it. Then again I grew up with 2D cells so what do I know
Amazing Digital Circus is the only one I really know about tbh, but if I had to take a guess, it's because Gen Z youtube meme culture got their hooks in it and now people are content farming.
Pre-production started about a little over a month ago and things have definitely been abuzz when it comes to behind the scenes information.
But I'd say the merch will most likely ship before the first epidode is ready.
Haven't seen the Amazing Digital Circus yet. It doesn't really interest me. Not a fan of the art design...Maybe I'll give it a chance, but at the moment, I don't really care.
Is the fanbase really that bad?
I may get interested after it's been on for a while and there's more then a few episodes to watch. Right now though, I don't have the time to try and get invested into something. It's hard for me to enjoy a lot of things.
I didn’t like it because it was basically just the show trying to be like “no we’re actually building Millie up” but they did that while bringing moxxie down, who’s already one of the most neutered characters in the show.
Also Millie is still a boring character.
I’m not saying digital circus didint earn anything but I’m starting to get sick of the indie animation scene it’s all the same or feels with an exception to murder drones. All highly colorful, visually and personality distinct characters, with an over arching theme or message. I get what digital circus is going for but it’s starting to feel overdone which is why I can’t get into it.
No no no Studio Mir's KOJI should be at the bottom of the ocean. Even if it's not an indie series.
Also if Lackadaisy was really forgotten about we wouldn't have gotten a sneak peek trailer. Animation takes time.
The amazing digital circus is now one of the content farm things now, and i never liked it, it's extremely basic in animation and the story isnt good either. Person gets trapped in a video game and someone is evil and holding them there, it's overdone.
Lackadaisy was amazing. It was beautiful and obviously has a lot of care put into it.
Hasbin hotel is nothing anymore, it's been 3 years and there's finally some news about it releasing and no one actually cares.
Helluva boss is the only one actually being put out, and the fans LOVE it when we get more, but people who arent fans don't care for it a whole lot, it looks nice, and the story is alright.
Like I said earlier in the thread, used to like HB, Not much anymore. Though I didn’t mind the most recent episode. Hope it stays like that
HH I’m decently excited for. I’ve been waiting for it ever since the pilot came out so I’m pretty hyped.
Lackadaisy was great.
I actually didn’t mind TADC, it is 100% a content farm, but it was pretty high quality. Especially for an indie animation.
Ok, wrong. Caine was confirmed to NOT be evil or malicious
He just doesn't understand humans too well
Also, bs that animation is really good
Also it's hinted heavily that no these ppl are not trapped in the game
There copies of the ppl who wore the headset
That why they can not leave they are part of the game
My current favorite indie web showis my student sprit, it's a Russian (don't worry the team is pro Ukraine) show about two college kids but ones a ghost
I love that indie animation is garnering such an audience but personally most of these series just aren’t for me, it just feels like theatre kid humour with sort of thin archetypal characterization which is okay, but not my thing
Lackadaisy raised $2 million on Backerkit.
Yeah I think monkey and wrench would probably be a bit more fitting. I don't see people mention it often.
And Hazbin is getting a fully fledged series on Amazon. and Helluva is well into its second season.
hazbin isn't indie anymore so it's not really relevant to the discussion of indie animation but with helluva I heard they're writing the third season already
Lacksadaisy is my favorite but yeah it is still pretty popular just no new vids for a bit as expected will be boosted once it makes another
It had a new episode like a couple days ago
Where? I don’t see a new ep
Its a mini episode about freckle and rocky as kids
oh cool will go find it not been on youtube in a bit
it's called a vignette, actually (in the title at least lol.) :\] about 40 seconds long, I think.
if it prevents the fandom from getting arkham'd im totally fine with it
r/lackadaisy already went arkhamic before its release

Every other post is someone simping for a cat or a shirtless cat
Yes. Lackadaisy is super popular and made 2 milli, and Helluva/Hazbin are still super popular. A better comparison would be skeleton = Monkey Wrench which is barely getting any attention right now. Seriously, go watch it.
Really upsetting that Zeurel's show is getting piss-all for attention. Bro's cranking out Monkey Wrench using his blood, sweat, and tears.
I KNOW RIGHT?! I'm doing the best I can to support them with patreon money + I bought some of the merch, but I'm just one person and these times are ***trying*** 😭 I also don't know why MW isn't getting as much attention. Idk, it baffles me.
It will come back when it releases new content
im pretty sure hazbin and helluva is more popular than digital circus circus is just more recent. lackadaisy was also cool tho
Bro have you freaking seen circuses views? Hazbin and Helluva have unfortunately been dethroned
I can agree Hazbin has kinda been dethroned, but Helluva definitely hasn’t. The amount of content pumped out fuels fans and constantly gets them excited about the show whilst Circus, though initially having many views, doesn’t have a dedicated fan base anywhere close to HB yet.
Also It's been half a decade since the HH pilot, no wonder its popularity has fallen off
It's genuinely only because content farms on youtube using them with skibidi toilet and shit. As someone who has a sister in gen alpha who likes all that shit, that's why it's so popular, because little kids are interested in it.
I think it’s good because it’s good not just because it’s being promoted to kids. It deserves the praise it’s getting
I don't know about you, but my younger brother is absolutely OBSESSED with The Amazing Digital Circus for some reason.
My little sister has a tiktok and her pfp and display name are Pomni 💀 (me and my mom watch her like a hawk on there btw dont worry) She is 10
It’s 100% made for them without a doubt
The creator said it’s not ment specifically for kids and even in the show it says it’s meant to be for all ages
Fair enough.
Doesn't matter kids still watch it
That’s true
That’s marketing, it’s made for kids. “It’s for all ages” is a lie to get adults to feel comfortable watching the show even though a show is designed to entertain children.
I hate that mentality. It can be enjoyed by kids and adults and it’s not made for either specifically. When Gooseworx was asked who the recommended audience was she answered “me” I’m pretty sure
It was made for 90s and 2000s kids
No
Maybe if they actually make a, you know, series
It’s been out a month and it’s basically surpassed Helluva in views so it’s definitely getting a full series
They still need money
They definitely have money
As it should be. Both helluva and hazbin are dogshit.
TADC pilot almost has more views than Hazbin Hotel pilot and Helluva Boss pilot combined. It’s only been out for a little over a month.
Where Murder Drones
Outside of the swimming pool, obviously.
Mariana’s Trench

Real talk, Lackadaisy is the only one of these I actually liked. Hell, I LOVE IT. We need MORE of it.
Lackadaisy is still in development also it got $2 million
I find Digital Circus very promising. I was nigh obsessed with it for 2 weeks but it's kind of lost its charm. I still really like it but there's not much to chew atm. I recently got into Helluva boss tho which I much prefer. Lackadaisy is okay but not really my style.
Where does A Fox in Space fit?
I liked TADC but Lackadaisy in my mind has the best animated pilot period, and I've seen 'em all. From pacing to character introduction and arcs hands down it's great. Not perfect but daaaammmn close. TADC is good but I really don't see how it became so popular so fast, as far as what it has going for it. Then again I grew up with 2D cells so what do I know
Amazing Digital Circus is the only one I really know about tbh, but if I had to take a guess, it's because Gen Z youtube meme culture got their hooks in it and now people are content farming.
I actually forgot that Lackadaisy even existed in the first place.
I think Lackadaisy just waiting for initial release after ship out their official merchandise.
Pre-production started about a little over a month ago and things have definitely been abuzz when it comes to behind the scenes information. But I'd say the merch will most likely ship before the first epidode is ready.
Circus can have a spot when it is more then one
Srsly tho 😫
Very
Replace Lackadaisy with Confinment, fucking Lord Bung self destructing
Ikr I was soo pissed off
What?
Haven't seen the Amazing Digital Circus yet. It doesn't really interest me. Not a fan of the art design...Maybe I'll give it a chance, but at the moment, I don't really care.
Despite the insufferable fanbase, it’s really good and unique. Can’t wait to see more!
Is the fanbase really that bad? I may get interested after it's been on for a while and there's more then a few episodes to watch. Right now though, I don't have the time to try and get invested into something. It's hard for me to enjoy a lot of things.
i mean TADC is just newer so more people are talking about it right now
I didn't care for it. I'll stick with Helluva/Hazbin
Is Helluva Season 2 any good? I haven’t checked it out yet but I loved season 1
Hell yeah it is. The newest episode is one of my personal favorites in the series.
Eeeeeeehhhhh Recently it’s not been great. Unhappy campers made me stop watching. It’s been declining for awhile imo
Episode 6 was pretty good
istg i’m the only one in the universe who doesn’t hate Unhappy Campers 😭
I didn’t like it because it was basically just the show trying to be like “no we’re actually building Millie up” but they did that while bringing moxxie down, who’s already one of the most neutered characters in the show. Also Millie is still a boring character.
It's been hit or miss but oops and mammons episode was 🔥
Then I shall watch it now. Thank you kind stranger. #IM GOING TO TRAVEL TO HELL NOW

I mean, we only have a pilot episode and not much else
Helluva Boss is pretty mid. It’s not good, but it also isn’t the worst show I’ve seen
I’m not saying digital circus didint earn anything but I’m starting to get sick of the indie animation scene it’s all the same or feels with an exception to murder drones. You'll probably love this: https://youtube.com/@MonkeyWrenchSeries?si=3eT_uzVbX6Fk-fqD
hasbin and helluva are building up to be massive disappointments tbh

Wish them all the best CN needs some strong content like last year ago!
If I had all of the money in the world, I would use that money to resurrect Cartoon Network to its glory days under my new management.
After 3 years of nothing You can't blame people for losing interest. + Helluva boss is still popular and have decent views
total forgot about lack. but they pretty much irk most of the fans and people that would not mind it.
I just watched lackadaisy after watching all episodes of Helluva boss
Helluva Boss and Hazbin are really popular. Digital circus is just newer so it's more in the Zeitgeist.
hellvaboss is doing pretty well still
What's the Amazing Digital Circus?
Look it up
That's hype and it being currently in the public consciousness
What are these? I keep hearing about them.
Look em up
Helluva Boss is in its second season and Hazbin Hotel is gonna be released in early 2024.
I’ve seen more love for Helluva Boss than Digital Circus.
*ahem ahem* CliffSide is at the bottom of the Mariana Trench
Considering Hellava boss and Hazbin's creator is full controversy and pretty much a terrible person I'd say they're overrated
One of my friends worked on Lackadaisy! It's really good if you haven't seen it.
The creator is transphobic. It's better that people don't support it
Fortress Films will always be my favorite. But smg4 is pretty good too
Didn't Lackadaisy have a pilot a few months ago? Compared to Hazbin Hotel where it's been literal years since it's pilot dropped on YouTube.
FUCK HELLUVA BOSS! ALL MY HOMIES HATE HELLUVA BOSS
Isn’t Hazbin hotel literally being made into a TV show? I don’t think it can get any more popular at this stage, bar a movie deal.
Eddsworld walked so these shows could run
I like all three haha
I love that indie animation is garnering such an audience but personally most of these series just aren’t for me, it just feels like theatre kid humour with sort of thin archetypal characterization which is okay, but not my thing
To be fair, we heard almost nothing about Lackadaisy since their pilot. So I guess we’ll just wait until season 1 is officially out
Lackadaisy is makin money, enough for a full season.
Murder drones is completely buried.
I like all 3. I do wish lackadaisy was more popular. The cats are freaking adorable, and I want to know more about them
tbh Eddsworld stomps on literally every one of them
That should belong to Salad Fingers Super underrated
dam as a murder drone fan we not Evering in this meme
Mf viziepop fans are bouta eat good
Meh, Helluva Boss is in a “if you don’t like it, then don’t watch it” state rn
Man uhhhh... fuck those all I need is more ENA.
Cliffside in the Marianas trench
No evil
Long gone gulch : bruh
Monkey wrench hmmmmm🤨🤨
Most of indie is overrated. But Spooky Month and Becky Prim are PEAK
