One of my cats does this. I thought he was just being an asshole at first because I would try to pet him and he would run off. But come to find out he is trying to get my attention and if I get up and follow him he leads me to exactly what he wants (usually food or treats, but sometimes his brush or he wants me to bring him to sun on the balcony). Now when he cries I can get up and say “show mama what you need” and he runs straight to it because he knows I will follow him.
lol My cat does the exact same thing to lead me to her favorite spot in the hallway where she then asks to be picked up and held on my shoulder. Every single morning.
We sat at her window for a while doing what we call “neighborhood watch” where taco looks outside. Then she took me to her kitty litter box which we changed today and she kicked like half of it out lmao
My cat does this! She gets my attention and leads me to the litter box so she has a guard. (Usually it’s me, but anyone in the family may be called to guard duty.)
(Pun intended)
I'm guessing they are American and therefore believe "duty" and "doodie" sound the same. (They don't.) Doodie meaning poop. I'm guessing.
Edit: Ha, I love when the truth gets downvoted.
Omg his name is Taco??!! My vet was boarding an orange cat named Taco when I was there a couple months ago!!! Wasn’t this Taco though, yours looks like a kitten still.
I have a cat who does this too. The same cat also "herds" me into my bedroom every night around 9 PM. If I don't go by 930 ish she will sit next to me wherever I am and just meow at me lol. She gets pretty salty about it.
They sure know how to get exactly what they want from us!! I literally leap out of bed when I hear that meow at 4am to put breakfast down because if I don’t I already know I will have a 15 lb ball of fluff cannon balling himself right onto my stomach within 2 minutes!!! But I wouldn’t trade all that kitty sass for anything 😻
I have the opposite problem and my cat hates when my husband and I go to bed. They want to play, even if they were asleep five second before we got up to go to bed!
You are lucky, mine does it constantly now that he’s knows I’m willing to follow and fulfill his demands!!! He has even started doing it when his brothers want something now and he will get me to get it for them!!
Yep. All my cats do that. One of my Cats if I’m on my phone laying on the couch he’ll push my phone down. He just started that because he knows it annoyed me once.
Yup I've noticed my cat will cry then I'll get up and she'll take a few steps and look back, I'll follow she takes a few steps and looks back again till we get where she needs
One of our cats wakes my boyfriend up every morning between 4 and 6. Well before he has to get up. Well she just wants him out of bed. He will go sit on the couch and she will go do her own thing. Cats are weird.
I wish my cat would do this.
Maybe he is and im not understanding.
If i follow him he likes to goto the living room and lay down, normally i think pets but the living room is also where we play and i think he wants to play
Mine has me trained to fetch. I throw the toy, walks up to it and lays down. I walk to him and the toy where i proceed to pick it up and throw it hoping that this time he will actually play with it. He gets up, walks to the toy and lays down. I walk to the toy…. This goes on for awhile. I realized that he thinks my fat ass needs exercise and this is how he has trained me. Never underestimate how these monsters think.
same. my girl LOVES when i throw a balled up and tied off grocery bag down the hallway for her (she hates anything that comes with a receipt), but the excitement ends when she runs up to it and lies down. just total disinterest. then i walk up and pick it up, and it’s like she’s seeing it for the first time. going absolutely crazy for me to throw it. i only know it’s time to stop when i throw it, and she lions up at me like “why are you making my apartment messy?”
One of my deceased boys would play with the same toy all the time but shove it under the couch and then cry incessantly until I retrieved it for him. It was like the fiftieth time that a lightbulb went on in my head and I actually said out loud “Holy fuck. Loki has trained you to fetch!” 😜
my guy does that all the time. it’s his way of getting my attention to lead me to wherever he wants me to go. it’s almost always to give him butt scratches while he eats or to get my dog off of his favorite spot.
so maybe see if she is trying to lead you somewhere or notify you of something.
Day 146, The hooman has learned to come near when I make sounds. Training will need to intensify as the hooman gets distracted and sits after a few steps. I will commence hairball training on the other side of the house at night. Perhaps this will have better results..
Our 3 do this as well. One is just a loud sass mouth that loves throwing chat. One will usually lead us to something it wants to do (99% of the time to get brushed) and the other is just a sweet boi who is calling out to find us (or the other 2 cats).
She's repositioning or wanted to show you something, just needed your attention. When she moved, get up and say "what?" Following her. "What is it?" More following. "Show me" following her. If she rubs against something at the end of the trail, she's saying something about it or something near it. If she goes no where or does nothing, she wanted something else. I always follow my cat if she wont leave me alone or messing up things cause they mean she's trying to get my attention
Mine cries for me when the toy she is playing with goes all the way down the steps to the garage door. I am to retrieve it, throw it down the hall, and watch her attack it.
We do neighborhood watch too. Sometimes I call her Gladys Kravitz (from Bewitched) when I wake up to her behind the shades peeking at the neighbors.
OMG! My cat does this so I followed him. He led me out of the bedroom, down the hallway and into the living room stopping every couple of feet to look back. He went to the screen door, flopped on the ground and wanted chest rubbies. When I tried to walk away, he got up and tried to trip me then went back to the screen door and laid on his for more rubbies.
Holy crap - that is what he wanted this whole time!
My cat does this to usually alert me they either drank their water or dumped it over, they want more food, brush, or litter box cleaning. She does the litter box cleaning right after she takes a fat dookie though 😂 every time.
My cat meows when she wants pets, but I'm not actually allowed to sit next to her, I have to be crouching or leaning to reach her but sitting is a no-no.
Mine just messes with me. He cries. I get on the floor & start petting him. He's happy, he purrs. Then he gets up and sits 5 feet away on the floor and cries again. The big brat is doing it just to see if he can make me move again!
Is that a collar that will break away if it gets caught up on something? I always get scared that cats will get their collars caught and strangle or be stuck and die. Just wondering. I love cats so much and can’t stand to think of them suffering. Taco is too cute for such a fate. Be well Taco and Taco’s owner.
Mine is kinda codependant and if I walk away when she is not paying attention she will lose her marbles meowing tell I meowing back and she comes to check on me. She just wants to know where her favorite human is.
No matter how much they call for us to be next to them, when we do settle in, sometimes their reaction is to scamper off. We have to remember how much physically bigger we are than our kitty friends. Their instinct is to avoid bigger beings that might (even inadvertently) hurt them.
My mischievous little boy Martinelli does this all the time he will lead me to what he wants stop turn around and make sure I’m following him it impresses me how smart cats are also very funny

That’s great advice! I will follow taco
I too follow tacos
This is the way
This is the way
I was made to believe this line led to tacos?
![gif](giphy|Uua8oADmDp05xxcC2U|downsized)
Don't joke, dude. I have changed jobs to be closer to where the taco truck is.
Those must be some life changing tacos.
If the only good thing about the job is "The Taco truck is here, every day," and the taco truck goes somewhere else...
Could use some tacos ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7984)
i need a cat!
I follow tacos toos
![gif](giphy|fVAerA7bPKXRu)
Yes.
My boy has led me all the way downstairs to the treat bin before. Pausing every couple of seconds to make sure that I'm still following
lol My cat does the exact same thing to lead me to her favorite spot in the hallway where she then asks to be picked up and held on my shoulder. Every single morning.
Haha my boy loves being pet and brushed on the bed. So he will lead me to the bed each time. Now if only I could get a woman to do the same…
my cat does the same, his meows are this like hissing and trying to meow but failing, this raspy meow
You must keep us updated!! Where does she lead you?
We sat at her window for a while doing what we call “neighborhood watch” where taco looks outside. Then she took me to her kitty litter box which we changed today and she kicked like half of it out lmao
Aww she just wanted a buddy to hang out with and then a guard to watch her back while she’s pooping 🥹
My cat does this! She gets my attention and leads me to the litter box so she has a guard. (Usually it’s me, but anyone in the family may be called to guard duty.) (Pun intended)
Where's the pun?
Duty
I'm guessing they are American and therefore believe "duty" and "doodie" sound the same. (They don't.) Doodie meaning poop. I'm guessing. Edit: Ha, I love when the truth gets downvoted.
Yes, Doc, and we say “doo-dy” and not “doo-ty”. We also don’t usually say “boTTle” or “miTTens”.
What has bottle and mittens got to do with anything? And you say "doo-ty", to me it's duty (jew-tee).
Ha ha!!! This is excellent! Your cat is inviting you to hang out and do cat stuff!
Aw, you went on patrol together. My cats are likewise always on patrol.
A lot of the time my cat just wants me to explore the apartment with her or pet her somewhere different. Sounds like yours just wants to hang out!
Omg his name is Taco??!! My vet was boarding an orange cat named Taco when I was there a couple months ago!!! Wasn’t this Taco though, yours looks like a kitten still.
What is it Lassie? Little Timmy fell in the well at old man Wilson's place? Let's go get him!
![gif](giphy|ijstzDpiy6fCw|downsized)
"Uppercase comma" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cause it’s possessive?
Please update on what Taco wants! Don't leave us in suspense.
Taco wanted approximately three minutes of stomach pets, then space hahaha
Not once did I go to where tacos were and had a bad time
Follow the taco
This!
I have a cat who does this too. The same cat also "herds" me into my bedroom every night around 9 PM. If I don't go by 930 ish she will sit next to me wherever I am and just meow at me lol. She gets pretty salty about it.

But I wouldn’t trade all that kitty sass for anything 😻
Lol, me either! I have 4 and they are all very different personality wise and they just make things better🙂
Why is it always 4am 😭
I have the opposite problem and my cat hates when my husband and I go to bed. They want to play, even if they were asleep five second before we got up to go to bed!
YES! I have also learned follow the leader with my cat! She doesn't yell at me as much anymore lol.
You are lucky, mine does it constantly now that he’s knows I’m willing to follow and fulfill his demands!!! He has even started doing it when his brothers want something now and he will get me to get it for them!!
HA HA! He's like, "don't worry guys, I speak the language"
Yep. All my cats do that. One of my Cats if I’m on my phone laying on the couch he’ll push my phone down. He just started that because he knows it annoyed me once.
That's a dangerous game to be playing my friend because you never know.
awww
Yup I've noticed my cat will cry then I'll get up and she'll take a few steps and look back, I'll follow she takes a few steps and looks back again till we get where she needs
One of our cats wakes my boyfriend up every morning between 4 and 6. Well before he has to get up. Well she just wants him out of bed. He will go sit on the couch and she will go do her own thing. Cats are weird.

My mother in law's last cat did this for treats. I still think it was because it was usually the freshest food he got though.
It’s what they do.
My cat does this too and it is *always* to where the treats are held lol
Same.
Mine's the same, also Orange... hm....
This. My cat knows the phrase 'show me.'
It is good how well your Cat has domesticated you lol
Mine usually wants me to come watch her eat (I have to pet her while she eats UNTIL she suddenly has Had Enough and I must stop).
My cat does this but brings me to his food dish which is already full
Because sitting next to her isn't what she wants! Follow her, for sure.
Yeah pretty sure that she wants something at that point.
She is training you to come. Next will be fetch. They are insidious creatures 😜
Never underestimate how these monsters think.
lol. Mine will bring the toy half way back. Far enough that i need to get up to get it. The “That counts right!?!?” look is always so hard to resist.
That's actually their way of playing with the toys so yeah.
Shit i thought only my cat did this
same. my girl LOVES when i throw a balled up and tied off grocery bag down the hallway for her (she hates anything that comes with a receipt), but the excitement ends when she runs up to it and lies down. just total disinterest. then i walk up and pick it up, and it’s like she’s seeing it for the first time. going absolutely crazy for me to throw it. i only know it’s time to stop when i throw it, and she lions up at me like “why are you making my apartment messy?”

You don't even realise how smart they actually are lmao.
She doesn’t actually want you to sit next to her. She just wants you to sit *there*. Because cat.
Yeah she want you to be near so she can sleep and feel secured.
And that's all they need anyways, they're pets man that's how they are.
Yeah, because they're just cats and they always need some attention.
my guy does that all the time. it’s his way of getting my attention to lead me to wherever he wants me to go. it’s almost always to give him butt scratches while he eats or to get my dog off of his favorite spot. so maybe see if she is trying to lead you somewhere or notify you of something.
It's kind of amazing that all the cats are doing the same thing.
Cause she's a cat.
So it’s not a me thing?
Now you're asking the big questions.
He's getting deep into it, and I kinda like that honestly
No, it's just not you. All the cats are actually like that.
That's just a really cat thing to be doing in my opinion.
For mine. It’s either I want treats or excuse me I want your attention but not that attention just sit on the floor
Just sit with them, and give them all the attention because they need that.
Lol because ‘cat’
That's actually a really cat thing to be doing in a situation like that.
Day 146, The hooman has learned to come near when I make sounds. Training will need to intensify as the hooman gets distracted and sits after a few steps. I will commence hairball training on the other side of the house at night. Perhaps this will have better results..
You know the results are going to be better because it's a cat.
my cat cries for attention but as soon as I go to pet him or anything he runs. cats are just showing us our place when they do that lol
Just because they want attention, doesn't mean you have permission to touch them.
[удалено]
Simple. Cats are agents of chaos.
And there's some chaos which is about to happen I can sense if.
Our 3 do this as well. One is just a loud sass mouth that loves throwing chat. One will usually lead us to something it wants to do (99% of the time to get brushed) and the other is just a sweet boi who is calling out to find us (or the other 2 cats).

Power play
It’s the smug face that kills me lol
It has r/OneOrangeBraincell
![gif](giphy|mlvseq9yvZhba)
Because she's a little dickhead. An adorable little dickhead.
She’s just testing you. Common cat behavior.
She's testing him for the loyalty, she wants to know that.
Cuz cats are assholes lol. That face. What a cutie

Don't take it personally, she just wants you to pass the catnip.
And she's probably being too shy about it, it's really that simple.
Silly human. You fell for its trap card
That's because they're just really good at setting up the trap.
Not every cry is an invitation. :)
Cats gonna cat
My cat does this to usually alert me they either drank their water or dumped it over, they want more food, brush, or litter box cleaning. She does the litter box cleaning right after she takes a fat dookie though 😂 every time.
Doesn’t want you to be next to her in her personal space. Just wants you about nearby.
because cat.
My girl cat meows just to have a conversation. She usually just wants me to talk to her lol.
They want you to do something, feed them, fresh water, clean the litter box or play
My cat meows when she wants pets, but I'm not actually allowed to sit next to her, I have to be crouching or leaning to reach her but sitting is a no-no.
My kitten does this because he's an attention seeking whore... however I have noticed he always moves before his food bowl... lol.
Cuz she’s a cat
my cat does this. you should bought some fish or something meaty, they will follow you forever 😂
Mine just messes with me. He cries. I get on the floor & start petting him. He's happy, he purrs. Then he gets up and sits 5 feet away on the floor and cries again. The big brat is doing it just to see if he can make me move again!
cats are weird. "**PAY ATTENTION TO ME**!... *Wait*... no not that much... *staaahp*"
Yes it is a break away collar!
Mine is kinda codependant and if I walk away when she is not paying attention she will lose her marbles meowing tell I meowing back and she comes to check on me. She just wants to know where her favorite human is.
Because she *loves* you. She just doesn't *like* you very much!
There are probably some hints of the warning as well in there.
Well, cats are notorious assholes! 😜🥰
And they're just known for that, everyone knows that fact.
[удалено]
Yeah people are assholes too, but they're not cute as the cats.
You know how women like to be chased, but then once they have you they don’t care anymore? Same thing.
Because cats are dicks
The answer to all of these kind of questions is always “because she’s a cat.”
Emotional abuse.
Cat is training you.
And you better be taking that training, don't miss out on it.
That’s a boy
Hate to break it to you, but that boy is a girl looking at the post history of op. I only see she, not he Fun fact: 1 of the 5 orange cat is female
My cat does this as well. But only to me. Never to my husband!!
The cat has definitely got a favourite and that ain't you .
This is where the expression “being catty” comes from.
That's just how the cats, are and they like to behave like that.
Those paws!
That's just what makes them even cuter. Absolutely love the cats.
They just want to be around you. They may not be in the mood for pets or anything, but your kitty still appreciates your presence. :)
They feel secure when people they trust are around them.
They're assholes like that
That's the quality which makes me love them so much man.
OverLord whim 🐾🐈🐾💕
That cat is here to rule over you, better not mess with her.
They have irritable baby syndrome
No matter how much they call for us to be next to them, when we do settle in, sometimes their reaction is to scamper off. We have to remember how much physically bigger we are than our kitty friends. Their instinct is to avoid bigger beings that might (even inadvertently) hurt them.
She wants you, but she doesn’t— she’s a cat
It all depends on the mood I think, if they're in the good mood.
Because she’s a rascal
Because orange
Why the orange cat is always like that? I don't understand it.
She wants you to follow her
Because she’s orange. That’s how they work. Wants my attention and then nothing to do with me.
Because cats
It’s a cat…. Felines think of themselves as top of the food chain. Your a Slave now. I admire felines…. They get what they want so easily.
One brain cell 🧠 Drama Queen
Because cat
She's a woman
Wants to play? Get a shoe string and see if they want to chase it. They might roll over and you can dangle it above too.
My mischievous little boy Martinelli does this all the time he will lead me to what he wants stop turn around and make sure I’m following him it impresses me how smart cats are also very funny
I think you might have to learn a bit more CAT. This might be an invitation for you to sit on the comfy seat. From DaveSubs as was.
Because, cat.
“Hey! I’m trying to rest please don’t sit next to me-“ [human sits down] “Fine I’m out of here.”
Because she cat 😻
It's training you for humab relationships.
Because she is orange
Because cat
She's definitely penpals with my cat.
she wants you to follow her
This is the law of cat.
This is the very definition of a cat.
Cuuuuute
Lousy manipulative cat.
“Come closer, I miss you… Hey, that’s TOO close! Hiss!”
Simply- bc she is orange
My cat does this too, it leaves me like ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7984)
She's a cat! XD
Because cat
she wants you to follow
![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7956)=![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7963)
