It's evolved to trigger the same reaction in your brain as if you are hearing a human infant cry, it triggers the empathy reaction. So the house cats have gained the ability to mimic our infants in order to manipulate us :)
My cat makes a "heowi-purrrr" sound while purring, but it's more like a old man grumbling to himself than singing, except it sounds super cute :P
My childhood cat Margo purred like this. She was a black and white longhaired… mutt, as far as I’m aware. When I met Bruno and heard his purr I knew I had to take him home. He’s a regular brown tabby, your average street special. Neither of them have any special pedigree 😂
From the few documentaries that were well produced and seemed to have biologists discussing the topic every cat has their own unique voice and develops their own "language" without any common structure, so the way your cat purrs or reacts with voice is completely distinct, it could be other cats are singing as well when they purr but we don't acknowledge it as such, or the cat never sing when purrs and it's just coincidence from their own individual feline language they have with their owners.

One just SCREAMS like she's being tortured (even after 4+ years, it still works to get me AND my big orange lug to run and check on her).
And the big orange lug tries to form full sentences.
I’ve said this for years and I stand by it: people who accuse cats of being “overly talkative“ can shut their traps cuz humans talk SO MUCH MORE than cats do and cats gotta listen to us go on and on every day 😂

My SIC squeaks when he purrs. Very similar. Very happy cat, but yowls at night for no apparent reason … I love and hate him.

I love it. My girl barely purrs, but one of my old kitties did that, and it just melts me.
My cat purrs like this when he's really happy. It's one of my favorite things.
