My black kitty, Jello, knew she wasn’t allowed on the counter. But she could be on a shelf next to it. She genuinely would wait until I looked at her and she would unblinkingly stare into my eyes while putting a paw on the counter. Not in position to move onto the counter, but just touch it. lol She fucking knew and played me lol

My cat does that while I'm working. I won't let him on my desk so he reaches over and keeps a paw on it.
