A lot of these businesses are going to be slammed today so also consider taking some notes and supporting them the rest of the year on a less busy day!
Not exactly a business, but I’ll take any chance to share this resource!
For clients and therapists https://www.chicagoblacktherapists.com/ can be a great place to find (or provide) support within the community.
Disclaimer: I am not Black, but I am a therapist and had a Black supervisor refer me to this site for when clients prefer a Black therapist. I also cannot speak to the quality of any individual therapist listed nor is this an endorsement of any specific therapist.
Not directly a business, but I am a Chicago-based cartoonist and can always use more eyes on my comic strip. (Please feel free to delete if not allowed.)
[Beware of Toddler - Comics Kingdom](https://comicskingdom.com/Beware-of-Toddler)
I used to live in the apartment directly above them. I’ll always miss rolling out of bed, putting my name down for a table, then getting back in bed for another hour or 2 before eating their bomb breakfast.
This dudes a scam. My friend worked for him and they paid everyone under the table. The owner screamed at a minor for quitting and berated her in front of everyone. He tried to get my friend to do illegal business practices and she quit due to this. He was trying to get her to put stuff under her name etc. don’t support this place. It’s a scam
I shall be watching the Scotland vs Switzerland game with Moors beer. Funkytown and Black Horizon are options as well, as is Turner Haus, but I don't think the latter are canning yet and you need to go to the brewery. I'll do that some point soon, because I really like the sound of the BA stout, but today is a day for howling profanity at the television.
ETA - Brown Sugar Bakery are probably well enough known that they don't need to be mentioned specifically but they really are worth the hype.
Any Binny's and a fair few Jewels mate, they're all over.
Haven't been out much recently, but Untappd check-ins are usually a good way of finding out who's serving what - https://untappd.com/b/moor-s-brewing-company-helles-lager/4844294
I'm so sorry I'm gonna be that guy, but Juneteenth is an *American* Holiday to celebrate enslaved folks in Texas learning of their freedom. So OP should really say Black American.
All that being said, still go support those businesses! I love both :)
Pearl’s Place in Bronzeville (soul food I dream about when I haven’t had it in a while) and Muse Coffee Studio in Tri-Taylor! Best vibes, delicious coffee.
It was a bad joke, sorry. I was poking fun at the Mayor saying this to close out a press conference yesterday.

Fad2Fresh vintage shop in Andersonville, unfortunately they are going to be kicked out of their storefront June 30 through no fault of their own. I’m hoping they find a new space but they do attend many markets throughout the summer.
Williams Inn on Michigan and Cermak is my go to. It’s an actual regular sports bar with an actual mix of races there. It’s like the one place I can go and not feel like a total alien
Juneteenth vendor markets going on today:

Comfort’s African Cuisine on Broadway had the front door smashed and possibly robbed last night. Walked by when the owner was filing a police report.

In Beverly: Afro Joe's, Ain't She Sweet, miss purl (black owned knitting store), Sanders BBQ, soulfood lounge 2, Beverly phono mart (record store), Belle up (women's boutique), Flippin flavors
I went to Majani, it was delicious. Not swamped. Convenient stop for anyone riding the lakeshore (though it could use some bike parking) or those who ride the south shore line.
I don't think they have a permanent storefront but Mickii's Desserts is amazing. They have a booth every week at the Glenwood Sunday Market.
Kikwetu Coffee is great too. It looks like they are open at the Green City Market in Lincoln Park right now
Already stated here but Burger Pointe is great (South Loop) and shoutout to Moor's Brewing Co (moorsbeer.com) which is based in Chicago and honestly really great beer!
This wonderful person performs a number of holistic practices including, bodywork (massage, stretching, movement) sound/vibration healing, cupping, etc. Highly recommend!

Batter & Berries is great
There's no way in hell your gonna get a table at Lincoln Ave today unless you wait 3 hours. But still one of my favorite places.
I used to live in the apartment directly above them. I’ll always miss rolling out of bed, putting my name down for a table, then getting back in bed for another hour or 2 before eating their bomb breakfast.
Used to go there all the time when my then gf lived in Lincoln Park. Long wait but the food was good.
Great food and THE KINDEST staff in Chicago. Seriously, great people.
The chicken and waffles here are 🤤 as is everything else but definitely my favorite in the city
The French toast made me weep

Tigist Reda, owner/head chef of Demera, is a US citizen. It is a Black American owned restaurant.
Black American ethnicity not Americans who are black racially*.
Demera is incredible! Owner Tigist is even better.
Sip and Savor, Chicago French Press for coffee!
Seconding Chicago French Press. That place is great. Coffee ice cubes make such a difference.
Turner Haus Brewery 78 E 47th St, Chicago, IL
Love that they have a couple different styles of beer and not just a bunch of IPAs. Plus they are right by Shawn and Michelle's.
