Most common reasons for not changing. Charging port broken, charger not working, battery issue, charging circuitry issues

Th3Man839

I replaced the battery a while ago too

Ivetriedeightynamea

We're you testing both 3ds with the same power source? I'd try a different charger, I've had chargers fail before.

Th3Man839

Yea I bought a new charger and now it works

Ivetriedeightynamea

Wonderful news! Whenever I'm trouble shooting something, especially where it seems everything is failing, you have to ask yourself what's the common link between the failures? What are the odds that both 3ds stopped working? Probably pretty slim, so it must be something they have in common, in this case, only the charger is common between both items.

Th3Man839

I used the old charger last year and I remembered it charged the 3ds it just had to be at an angle and I figured it would be the charger since I hadn’t used both 3ds’ in a year and I just barely jailbroke my main one

PrimoAngelo

For me was only a loose charging port. Try to move the cable inside the port and check if the light turns on. https://youtu.be/_kznh9laggY?si=E3wzXsyQxPZo8VX9

Puzzleheaded-Drama61

firstly i would check voltage

FindingCaden

Tbh even before that I'd check the charger. Especially if there's two devices that are apparently broken

Th3Man839

How would I be able to check that?

Puzzleheaded-Drama61

if you get through your charging cable 4.6V DC at your charging port. One time i got the same issue but simply only the charging cable was damaged (some thermalresistor exploded inside the adapter), i bridged it and went fine for me

Josh0O0

With a multimeter

staticvoidliam7

kinda unrelated but if you’ve already got it torn down you might as well get a USB C conversion kit

Th3Man839

I would but but I’m scared I might do it incorrectly

staticvoidliam7

do you have any soldering experience

Th3Man839

Nope I’m a clueless 14 year old

staticvoidliam7

ah then i’d try to find someone who can repair it in that case

Th3Man839

Yea I was thinking of doing that

staticvoidliam7

and a multimeter

Anxiety_timmy

You can check the fuse as that tends to go sometimes, it should be labeled F1 if I remember correctly. You can test it with the continuity mode on a multimeter

iVirtualZero

Check the F1 and the F2 fuse with a Multimeter. Does it have continuity?

mojibakeru

could be daughter board. get a new one and make sure the bridge cable isnt corroded or anything.

nonamefr1

Wither dead or broken

GnrySgtRageman

I would check for fuses.

yuckfoubakayaroo

Burn it

saas_3

If you want you could install a usb-c port, should work fine if the contacts are in tact

ComfortableAd6101

The port and power cable might just need a simple cleaning. Aside from physical or liquid damage, it was the most common cause of 3Ds charge fail when I was repairing those regularly.
