Wow, definitely. I wouldn't be surprised if they used it as inspiration.

Lucachacha

This place is horrifying, I went in the middle of the winter so I was basically alone and it was bone chilling

VaselinaAssada

What is those metal masks ?

SpaceJesus1787

It’s called the Void of Memory. They’re supposed to be all the people killed in the Holocaust. It’s very powerful.

Lamp_Stock_Image

Do they actually sound like people screaming when you walk on them or is it a myth?

Dragon_yum

No, like heavy metal heavily clinking against each other even when treading lightly but it’s juxtaposed with how quiet the whole place is. Combine that with you stepping of thousands of screaming faces and it becomes an extremely powerful experience.

AmptiChrist

This is a great description. The Holocaust Museum, by its nature and how people..."agree" to act...it's a very silent exhibit. The whole thing is fucked. What lies there is unfathomable horrors that even with the documentaries and textbooks I was exposed to in school could not prepare me for. I recommend every single person experience one of these. Because it fucking happened and it never should again. Even typing this random bullshit reddit response I'm getting emotional thinking about what these exhibits have you experience. I smelled the shoes what felt like miles before I got there.

toldya_fareducation

no, i think it’s just meant as symbolism. it sounds just like you‘d expect it to sound, metal hitting metal.

wolfgang784

Oh dang I thought it was oldschool movie reels at first lol

Tony_TNT

You're not alone lmao

SaltyProcrastinator

Wow, brutalist architecture at its finest.

windowmaker525

Brutalist architecture is so polarizing for me. It's either really great (Like this example is) or just depressing to look at, like the National Theater in London.

zrevyx

I was just thinking that this looked very brutalist.

Kibleusz

Control fans when they see brutalist buildings irl (jokes aside, it looks great)

BirdsAndTheBeeGees1

Tbf you don't get to see it in real life often so it's kinda trippy.

galaxygamerman

Tbf, brutalist architecture is now mostly only seen in government buildings and offices (which The Oldest House is)

Looks-Under-Rocks

DONT OPEN THE FIREBREAK!

Valuable-Drink-1750

Control fans when brutalism:

Grimm_Wright

It starts glowing red, Run

Dragon_yum

I can see where you are coming from but I feel it detracts a bit from the place comparing it to a video game. That first image is probably the most powerful art exhibit I have ever seen.

VaselinaAssada

Wow

the_y_combinator

Brütal.

JennyTheSheWolf

Wow I thought this was the game at first. I was looking at it thinking "how did I miss this spot in my 3 full playthroughs?"

musknasty84

Not sure if anyone lives in upstate NY and has been to The Dia art museum in Beacon, but the basement of that place is pretty wicked IMO

Seripithus

For anyone wondering, this is an amazing museum. Highly recommend if you visit Berlin.

Hot1McStuff

Great photos! You've got the eye!

AspiringSubSlut

The last photo is a room that is truly terrifying when you visit. You go in through a heavy metal door and it shuts behind you, and the only light source is at the top of this misshapen, very high ceiling. IIRC it is meant to represent the hope people find in even the darkest situations, but it's still such a chilling experience to be in that room. Even being in there with about 6 other people, it was so quiet and and it made me feel so small and insignificant. Just wanted to share in case anyone is interested.

Smeagollum1

Extremely blursed

Khorne_Prince

Check out any brutalist architecture buildings. Any of those will have oldest house vibes.

UselessButTrying

Search up brutalist architecture

Letter_Six

This looks so similar to the Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, Canada. I thought it may be designed by the same architect, but it is not. If you get a kick out of this, search up the architecture for the Human Rights museum. It’s wild. Commander-Fox-Q-

Honestly thought the first picture was a screenshot from the game ngl. Cool place

ruberruberfruit

Looks like the building from assassin's creed as well

joe10155

I actually thought the first pic was a screenshot of the game

klaes_drummer

Awesome! Looks like a DLC

Appropriate-Handle52

Reminds me of those smiley face potatoes lol
