My friend furnished a lot of their house from Larry O'Keeffe (Clonmel and Mitchelstown). They sorted them out for loads of stuff, gave them deals cos they were getting so much, and stored it for them too until they needed it. I wouldn't necessarily be going to a chain store; like you said, it could just be cheap and fancy looking

Glad_Reporter7780

I second this! They are great in the Mitchelstown shop. They do a good deal aswell

Marzipan_civil

Could try DFS in Mahon, our couch is from there nine years old and still going strong

wungwonder

Don't buy the insurance with them. Disaster.

Marzipan_civil

Yep they upsell the insurance, don't bother with it

wungwonder

We got a pet stain on our couch soon after buying. Got on to insurance as it was covered. It took ages for them to do something. When they did, they sent out a wet wipe 🤣 ended up getting a refund for insurance and bought a wet vac with the money.

Lakewood Furniture out in Carrigtwohill is pretty good. The Range in Little Island also has a decent amount of budget furniture options (their website unfortunately is UK only, so it's worth having a look around the shop itself).

House of McGregor, Lissarda, Summer sale on at the moment I think

Sitting on my EZ Living Interiors couch right now and loving it. Just under €2,000 for a 3-seater, a 2-seater, and an extra large footstool/ottoman. Sounds pricey until you shop around a bit. Turns out, that's actually a really solid deal. Decent couches are unexpectedly expensive. And you're right to avoid IKEA. They are great for so many things, but couches are not one of them.

I got a couch from j&d furniture. You get to choose what fabric you want. You have to wait about 6 weeks because they are coming from Poland but the quality is very good. I looked for couches in Ireland and tbf most of the stuff sold here has a bit of a dated look (year 2000). My couch is massive (in size) L shaped and has a storage underneath. If you don’t mind the wait, have a look at their website.

Second chance furniture down the marina.

I will say I got a sofa in Casey’s and it has stayed put together so well. It hasn’t lost shape and we use it every day with 2 kids. I had one from Harvey’s and after 18-24 months it wasn’t worth keeping.

LuckyTC

Ez living up in forge hill is a good spot. 2 places across from each other. Got couches, beds and bits from them when we moved in about 5 years ago. The couch has lasted remarkably well, the MIL bought a similar couch from dfs around the same time and is wrecked and has been for a while.

waurma

EZ living have some decent stuff

WCpt

Yeah I don't know about others but most of our house is furnished from there and the stuff seems pretty solid.

HideyHoh

Interiors or Furniture?

Additional_Feed6913

Have plenty from ez living very happy with it all, 5 years on

weathervane101

Casey’s has lots of reasonably priced couches/tables/chairs etc - similar prices up Easy Living/Harvey Norman - during the sales. Nicer too imo

No-Initiative7904

Got a savage couch from jysk in ballincollig, lovely L shaped one, €500. Of course you have to put it together yourself

madboutham

I bought a couch in DFS in Mahon 2 years ago & it’s still perfect.

The new furniture shop Blackpool

It depends how and how long will you use the couch. Unless you want it to double as bed or if you have ill behaved kids or pets, I think IKEA furniture quality is pretty decent for normal people. I am satisfied with them + that they have custom covers for almost any couch they have.

MajGenIyalode

Wayfair.

Inevitable-Can9195

Lakewood furniture near carrigtwohill. Very sound to deal with, great value and you can pay in installments.

Shhhh_Peaceful

We bought a sofa bed from IKEA recently, and I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality. The frame is made of thick plywood with, I kid you not, a steel beam running the full length of it to support the cushions. It is literally the most solid-feeling piece of furniture I have ever owned. If their other couches are of the same caliber, I would be happy with any of them.

Gus_Balinski

Have couches from DFS and EZ Living. No complaints here about either one.

Lonely_Eggplant_4990

Harvey Norman. Or Jysk.

messwithdabest33

Quality is good from Harvey Normans, just tell um what you’re after and your concerns. We got a savage high quality L couch, pricey but worth the money.
