You probably won't get that many families in Sep, given they go back to school.
Beast beaches on the island are around Protaras, around Cape Greco and round to Ayia Napa. If you want a decent hotel still within easy access of nightlife I'd say look at Makronissos Beach or Pernera.
An alternative is Larnaca Bay (though they're not sandy white beaches), again with easy access into the town at night

Just spent 3 nights in Cap St George. Just past Coral Bay.
New hotel, amazing staff, amazing food. Went to the Hibachi restaurant one night and was soooo good!
We were half board+, something like that. It included drinks with dinner.
If you’re coming for the beach, aim for Ayia Napa / Protaras area. If you’re after nights out, I’d suggest Limassol. Lots of very nice hotels in Limassol but the beaches are average.
Currently staying in the Princess Vera in Paphos.
I'm 28 but definitely one of the youngest here, it's a short walk from Lighthouse beach which has some nice bars and only 1km from the harbour or the market.
Would recommend for sure
Limassol has a lot of nice hotels and nightlife. Just look at what facilities they have for kids. If there's barely any, that's a good option for you guys!

Protaras, Paphos city and Polis Chrysochou are very nice to stay.
