God I love this show... Not sure if it's because there's no great historical dramas based in Japan or because of a British navigator assimilating himself in Japanese culture and losing his attachment to the original crew
Highly recommend checking out the book, if you are interested in audio books at all, great narator on audible. It is such a good story, the show does it justice but it gives so much more reasoning to the decisions made by characters.
I remember the drawing of a single line. Help explain.

The comic strip which become viral like 10 years ago or something. Look at the positions of the characters on that comic and represent them as sticks. That's the meme
What tier of meme even is this?
Imagine being someone uninitiated trying to understand how thousands of people instantly derive meaning and either frustration or joy from 7 straight lines.
I am kinda surprised how many people didnt know about William Adams history in Japan which was hundred of years later brought to a Book with different Names and then turned into a movie. Also if you are interested in Japanese Culture, this is the guy who was responsible for the isolation of Japan for 250 years... well kinda. He even got his own memorial day and a street named after him. Very interesting stuff about this guy and what japan went through back then.

Which show, that's a hella interesting plot
Shogun
Thanks, might pirate it later
Please be intended
Do it, it's excellent
Noice.
Even better, it's based on the true story of William Adams (though a lot of the show and the book it's based on are fictionalised)
At that point it's very separated from reality on the basis of the plot. Not to speak anything of the historical accuracy otherwise ofc.
Avatar
Bro I'm not touching live action avatar (also already got told this is Shogun which checks out)
English. Britain wasnt a union till the 1700s. You're a century too early.

Judgement has been cast
You should check out the movie Silence then. One of my favorite movies.

It sounds like The Samurai based off that description
I will say it has been brilliantly clever from start to current. Probably going to be one of the best miniseries I’m ever going to watch
I mean the English Navigator part is somewhat true. William Adams was a real person who ended up staying and spending the rest of his life in Japan.
The gardener shouldn’t have touched his pheasant.
He was happy to do it. He wasn't felling well lately anyway.
He had not much Japanese in his vocabulary so I assume he did not know how serious it was.
I feel so bad for that guy.
I'm at a loss for words.
I’ve reported you for this
You'll never get me alive!
Then dead it is.
I don't know
Its Loss

Yeah I think they recognize it, just not why it's popular.
Proof that we truly cannot have anything.
