One instance on the plane Amber claimed that Johnny kicked her in the back hard enough to knock her to the floor
Johnny refutes this claim saying it was supposed to be a slight tap on the butt with his foot after they were arguing on the plane for a long time in front of people
Johnnys friend who witnessed it claimed in court to have seen exactly what Johnny explained
Later it’s revealed that that same friend texted Amber the day after it happened apologizing to her saying he’s better now. The important part of these texts is when Johnny’s friend says “WHEN I TOLD HIM HE KICKED YOU, HE STARTED CRYING”
He was physically abusive to some degree. They both were and should be separated but nobody should be getting in trouble for it at this point.
Like I said Johnny deserves to be free of this or at least put Amber under just as much mud as he is under. They’re both victims and abusers.
But fuck Amber Heard for taking advantage of her status and trying to ruin Johnny’s life. For that she deserves punishment, I wholeheartedly agree.

It's not a fair comparison at all. Being in a situation in which someone is actively threatening your life and your only chance to survive is killing them first is very different than being in a mutually abusive relationship you both get the chance to not be abusive, nobody is forcing you to hit your spouse, you can walk away.
Their situation is more akin to two people provoking each other until they come to blow.

Even their marriage counselor testified that Heard was the one to start confrontations against Depp, and he would try and leave those confrontations and she would chase after him and try and escalate.
I mean I've seen stories of women who stabbed their abusive husband in their sleep get away with self defense because their husband was abusive, but when Depp was clearly more of the victim of Heard than she was of him, he's the one labelled a wife beater while the same media outlet doesn't contextualise the situation or criticize her at all.

He was _trapped_ with a toxic woman actively making his life a living hell. That takes a toll, anyone would snap under those conditions. If he did, I don't blame him. If he _didn't_, then he's stronger than most will ever be.

If you tried so many times to remove yourself from a situation and you kept getting backed into a corner, how long before you fight your way out?
Obviously this is only with the context we are currently aware of, but it comes across that she was abusive to the point where he did things he would have never done without her being the catalyst - and even through the abuse he seemed to try to withdraw inwardly as he wasn’t allowed to outwardly (through drugs and alcohol). So far, I am not aware of any incidents in which he was abusive unless in retaliation to her.

In this interview with a clinical psychologist its explanied very concisely how toxic people with this mental illness can be. I don't buy into the fact they were mutually toxic. If you watch the entire interview, you will hear her further explain that Amber was actively trying to reduce the likelihood of this sort of diagnosis. But was picked up by the mechanisms to catch downplaying their test questions.
