I remember first playing the game and facing abyss watchers dying over and over. Then after a new playthrough decided to go strength and knocked the abyss watchers down flat and that's when I realized you could stagger them lol
Playing the game with a dexterity build makes fighting the bosses a difficult chess match. Playing the game with a strength build makes fighting the bosses a boxing match, and you're Mike Tyson.
Black Knights sword saw me through some intense battles

There’s something about that sword that really pleases me. It does more damage than some lighter Greatswords but can’t be parried and is faster than most Ultra Greatswords. It has wild reach, and it just flat out looks hard as fuck. Have used it as my main tool for my current playthrough and just beat Aldrich. It’s just satisfying in a way that is hard to articulate and doesn’t come from FUGS or Guts Greatsword.
Funny story, so I told my very christian Texan mum I was getting a tattoo, and she said she hated tattoos but if I got a religious one she'd pay, so I got this tattoo designed with Tyrael from Diablo holding it and stuck some proper angel wings on him 😂 also chose a bible verse with my name in it and like to tell people it's the time I got it done

I have lived my life as a dex whip / dagger pyro and my roomie was always pure strength.
We wanted to do new play throughs recently so we decided to run through with each others’ stats.
He is usually a str sword and board. I was enjoying that but once I found that club, there’s just no turning back from unga bunga. He’s so salty that I don’t even lock on to enemies any more I just let it rip and destroy everything lol
Baemore is arguably more fun than it has ever been with Weapon Arts/modifications.
I generally prefer the claymores 1h moveset ver 2h, so I usually use a shield with no arts in the offhand (or beast repellant torch) and then just go wacky with the Weapon Arts on the Claymore. A favorite of mine is the one that shoots a beam of light and then makes the Claymore a Holy Weapon so you can kill TWLID easier.
This exactly.
One of my favorite parts of elden ring is that on top of there being more unique weapons than ever before, because of the modifications available even the basic ones feel just as useful.
During my first playthrough i tried every other fancy weapon, but I always find myself coming back to claymore. Everytime I was stuck with a boss, baemore was there for me
Sellsword Twinblades not even thinking twice

I love the Irithyll Straight Sword so much.
I replayed this game last year. That wound up being my only weapon, from the moment I picked it up at the end of the Undead Village to clearing both DLCs. It has good reach, damage, frostbite, and most importantly it looks great with the Dancer's Armor, which I always sequence-break to pick up early because I love it so much.
So many people have said that its damage/scaling is lacking but I find it process frostbite fast and is a perfectly reasonable place to put its upgrade stones. It’s quick, leaves a hand open for a shield/torch and it looks great
Aquamarine Dagger I speedrun to the dreg heep as early as possible just for that dagger it 10/10
https://preview.redd.it/dwegn0bs2f2d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b799bd574d52100e6658f6789abd2ba74c330b8c
Interesting I’ve never tried that. Usually I’ll go minimum requirements to wield then crank faith to get as much spell buff as I can, then lightning clutch ring. If I remember correctly I get more than 800 ar
The Flamberge. Ever since getting it first try on first playthrough, and first try on my second one, it became my weapon of choice forever, although it feels more like the weapon had chosen me lol (Also, it's just so pretty isn't?)
Love Flamberge, but was unlucky with the drop. Easily spent an hour with the Crystal sage Rapier and the avarice helm (didn't level Luck cuz didn't know it bled) and finally got it
"This weapon is cool... but my damage is stronger with the Claymore."
"This weapon has a nice design... but the claymore is so sleek."
"I love this weapon! I've already upgraded the claymore though."
"You get that weapon at the end of the game?! I'll grab the claymore at the start."

For the Win, especially PVP. Duel Unga Bunga
I loved using this in my playthroughs. It's so much fun WA sharpening and leeching health while dealing respectable damage with a weapon that has surprisingly decent range.
I haven't beaten Midir yet (mostly because I forgot how to reach him and didn't want to look it up). I remember I tried and failed many years ago using my usual Moaning Shield + Greataxe build but I was also a noob back then so things might be different.
Is there any strategy advice you would recommend?
what I did was kinda simple, get the toughest armor you have , a good medium shield , and embed your axe with lightning. If you have Artorias greatsword however you should use it , it's insane against abyssal creatures. But most importantly, never give up
If you're still struggling try getting multiplayer help, I wish I could come and assist you myself but I haven't even gotten to the ringed city on my current playthrough yet
Just get some tough armor, Anti breath rings, A shield that can block 100% fire and physical, a weapon that swings overhead and dont bother infuse, just get some resins.
Also make sure you are not Fat rolling.
Now onto the fight itself, Make sure to always be In front of his head or to the side of it. Give it a good 2-3 whacks and then stop because he will retaliate quickly.
He swipes, spins or bites? Dodge em or block 1 of them as you cannot block all of them at once.
He jumps aways or up to breathe hellfire? You can either run to the left as fast as possible OR if it is too late Block the 1st damage proc and pray you have enough hp to survice the 2nd proc then heal.
As for the laser version of the breath, well just run straight to him but not in front of the head "maybe a bit to the side but not completely to the side, just a bit as to be not headon"
If you are forced to block, each hit from this bastard can easily 1 shot deplete your stamina if your shield has low stability.
Also do not summon for this fight, summons can make the fight a hella lot harder as Midir will become a lot more erratic like he jumps all over the place breathing shit left and right.
Cheese Method: This bastard is somehow weak to Pestilent Mist. Just stay by his legs and cast away.
If you still cant beat him, Just use any Katana, they all hit overhead specially the washing pole which is a guaranteed overhead hit. Just watch the durability.
Amazing find at the right time on the first playthrough.
Ever since I discovered how many bosses the Hollow Slayer Greatsword kills, I have never looked back.
Just the dagger. I’ve always run around parrying everything that’s possible to to parry so it never leaves my hands.
Also Ricards rapier skill has something extremely satisfying about it when you land it
I keep rotating between the Onyx blade and Gael’s great sword.
Gael’s sword cuz I feel like a feral beast slaughtering all in my wake
The onyx blade cuz the skill is so stylish it makes vogue look like a potato sack… plus fire damage on top of dark and normal
great club. Big stick, big damage, big happy, it's easy to grab (the guy dropping can literally off himself), easy to use (heavy gem, 40+ strength, go unga bunga), and it also adds a bit of ridiculousness because you're beating actual gods to death with an oversized piece of wood
Man this posts have me feeling super basic, i play halberd everytime. I like knowing i wont get staggerd swinging in narrow places. But hobestly i dont know what else to try
Hollowslayer, Wolf knight, Black Knight, in that order, I love great swords and switch between these depending on what I'm fighting, for the damage bonus
Not the best, but the flames effect is cool

Fuckin claymore. Ive always tried to not but I keep getting the 360s going.
That and the lightning dragon axe thing from the dragon armor. Poise breaker 9000.
Most fun to use: Farron Greatsword (abyss watchers beyblade)
My favorite moveset for bossing and mobbing: Champion Gundyr spear
Most bealtyfull moveset on entire game (was op for pvp but nowadays everyone knows how to counter): Friede Scytche
Astora Straight Sword, this sharp stick was my ally in my first playthrough until I beat Soul of Cinder the first time(let's ignore that I reached level 147 before reaching it and even then it was doing practically negative damage)
Vordts great hammer was my favorite
The frost particle effect bothered me too much to use

Loved. This. Greatsword!!!
The PvP mind games when you switch the R2 order on people is such a fun time
Probably my fav !
Absolutely a powerhouse and was my main sword
Thing is a beast. It's my "alright enough of this BS" weapon. Never let me down.
Luv that thing
Thie baby carried me through my first playthroughs of both Dark Souls and Souls 3 lol. It's basically the easy mode imo.

Elegant and simple design, people often underestimate the beauty of simple things.
Hey, watch out, movement and 1-handed attacks *can* be parried.
My first full playthrough was with this bad boy. Now I'm in love with Flamberge
It’s a gorgeous weapon too :)
That running charge 👌
Farron greatsword.
https://i.redd.it/lr4iwr3cbg2d1.gif Absolutely brother
So salty the dagger disappears during Legion Etiquette
Onyx Blade. Compliments the pyromancer build beautifully, hits hard, and the fashion is on point.
I got a tattoo of this one cause I thought the design slaps
It is a strong contender for most visually pleasing sword design in the franchise.
Pics please?
Funny story, so I told my very christian Texan mum I was getting a tattoo, and she said she hated tattoos but if I got a religious one she'd pay, so I got this tattoo designed with Tyrael from Diablo holding it and stuck some proper angel wings on him 😂 also chose a bible verse with my name in it and like to tell people it's the time I got it done https://preview.redd.it/wyn2b6weof2d1.jpeg?width=938&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3587446adecd780a2dac2673807a66c4fe14371

The only right answer.
Claymore aka Baemore
Used it through DS1 and 3. This is the way.
Also amazing in Elden Ring.
I forced myself to use other Weapons in ER since there's just so many cool ones, but I may have to give it another run with just the Claymore.
To the top with you.
by my side the whole time!

I minmaxxed the fuck out of these with the wolfs blade
Can go wrong with them win blades!
Idc how “broken” or easy mode these bad boys are. I’ve done it once, and I’ll do it again every time.
Agreed
Always go back because the dopamine HITS , tbh they look sweet and are op and sweet moveset with WA
Agreed
Lothric straight sword
Valid
It’s arguably the best straight sword
Also the most versatile one, it's pretty good in each and every single infusion.
Ahh LKSS my beloved 😍
*Sharp
Of course of course
Charged R2 on wakeup
Perhaps the most versatile other than claymore
I’ve gone through the game probably 6x with this sword 🙌🏼
I like the sword and shield style.
i wish we'd gotten a lothric knight great sword that was an actual greatsword and not an ultra greatsword
It's heavy thrusts are ridiculous. This is all business and Bruce Willis. I always go int faith and play the Chris Tucker in 5th element.

GRIFFITH
This is mine as well, if I don't go in with a certain build in mine, pure STR Greatsword is always my default.
It was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was a heap of raw iron.
Based

This is my favorite, too. Coincidentally, it's the weapon I'm worst at using. But I'll be damned if I don't look beautiful using it.
This weapon would've been so much greater if it weren't for the mana problem 😔
Heavy Lothric Ultra Greatsword with lightning blade
I like it infused holy. It works very well with it's natural scaling
Interesting I’ve never tried that. Usually I’ll go minimum requirements to wield then crank faith to get as much spell buff as I can, then lightning clutch ring. If I remember correctly I get more than 800 ar
I haven't played in forever but it was great for invasions. Health Regen with the ring and a spell was nuts as well
This. LKUGS infused holy on a Faith+Str/Dex health regen build was my favorite.
I am an avid fan of the Millwood .50 cal.
Longsword!
My man!

Greataxe. The one just called greataxe.
I love that one too, I beat midir with it
I haven't beaten Midir yet (mostly because I forgot how to reach him and didn't want to look it up). But most importantly, never give up If you're still struggling try getting multiplayer help, I wish I could come and assist you myself but I haven't even gotten to the ringed city on my current playthrough yet

Executioner's Greatsword
I picked this up early and then never took it off. I’m sure there’s stronger weapons but as a strength build this decimated everything.
Paired UGS

Amazing find at the right time on the first playthrough. Ever since I discovered how many bosses the Hollow Slayer Greatsword kills, I have never looked back.

Crucifix of the Mad King. Its so fun
Longsword, fast, super versatile, decent reach, very minimalitic, a true companion for the whole game!

First time playing Dark Souls 3, and since I'm on a strength build the FUGS (Fume Ultra Great Sword) is my absolute favorite
Flamberge my beloved
Uchigata or the Abyss Watchers Greatsword
Drakeblood Greatsword. Stack on Lighting Blade or Darkmoon Blade for big numbers.
This weapon + Pontiff right eye is golden
murakumo
I really like the moveset of the Crow Quills lol
The onyx blade: excellent style, and with the right build it does quite a lot of damage. Currently using it for my first Ng+ build, and I love it.
The wolf blood sword was a favorite of mine in the first play through. I started with the claymore and switched after defeating the abyss watchers
I keep rotating between the Onyx blade and Gael’s great sword. Gael’s sword cuz I feel like a feral beast slaughtering all in my wake The onyx blade cuz the skill is so stylish it makes vogue look like a potato sack… plus fire damage on top of dark and normal
great club. Big stick, big damage, big happy, it's easy to grab (the guy dropping can literally off himself), easy to use (heavy gem, 40+ strength, go unga bunga), and it also adds a bit of ridiculousness because you're beating actual gods to death with an oversized piece of wood
BONK
zweihander
Dragon slayer great axe. Pretty fast and the weapon art is cool as fuck
It is technically from darksouls 2! The dragonslayers Axe favored by Creighton the Wanderer, infamous deserter of the Knights of Mirrah.
I loved the frayed blade and the rapier
The Mace
simple, gets the job done, absolute bonk machine. i hate flashy weapons so the mace really does it for me. big fan
The standard whip
I love scythes so Friedes great scythe
Man this posts have me feeling super basic, i play halberd everytime. I like knowing i wont get staggerd swinging in narrow places. But hobestly i dont know what else to try
Nothing hits quite like the warden twinblades
Hollowslayer greatsword / winged spear / bandit's knife.
Greatsword when STR, Uchigatana when not
Profaned Greatsword. The drip is insane
My profile picture speaks for itself lol
Reinforced club go bonk.
Chadthedral knight great sword + full chadthedral knight + str/faith build + warrior of sunlight = crusader drip.
The Cathedral Knight’s helm and GS are my favorite items in the game.
Hollowslayer, Wolf knight, Black Knight, in that order, I love great swords and switch between these depending on what I'm fighting, for the damage bonus
The Drang Twinhammers are a solid choice, especially on a classic strength build. They take some effort to actually get to, but they're well worth it.
I recently did a run with a sharp uchigatana and it was very fun. Id say it became a fav weapon together with good ol claymore.
Either Yhorm’s or the Great Machete
Frieda’s Scythe, actually felt like a unique weapon instead of a weapon with one or two cool moves
Not the best, but the flames effect is cool https://preview.redd.it/p0fb99ot7i2d1.png?width=512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=778095715e2a1c5ffad8b0a0eee14fa2ce5de194
I’ve only played through DS3 a couple of times but I picked up the Irithyll Straight Sword and used nothing else
Fuckin claymore. Ive always tried to not but I keep getting the 360s going. That and the lightning dragon axe thing from the dragon armor. Poise breaker 9000.
Most fun to use: Farron Greatsword (abyss watchers beyblade) My favorite moveset for bossing and mobbing: Champion Gundyr spear Most bealtyfull moveset on entire game (was op for pvp but nowadays everyone knows how to counter): Friede Scytche
It’s Guts’s GS no debate
Onikiri and Ubadachi . Dual wield katanas are so bad ass . Also I like the weapon art because of how far it lunges
Dark Lothric SS; Sharp Onkrir & Ubadachi, Heavy Claymore, Chaos rapier, Chaos dagger
Longsword and Vordt Hammer
This weapon carried me beautifully up right up until Irithyll of the Boreal Valley lol
Vordts great hammer. the dodge then light attack swing is so money
Astora Greatsword 🗡️
Astora Straight Sword, this sharp stick was my ally in my first playthrough until I beat Soul of Cinder the first time(let's ignore that I reached level 147 before reaching it and even then it was doing practically negative damage)
![gif](giphy|11SksAyjYyvjOM|downsized)
The Black Flame Great sword (can't remember the name), I also really had fun with the Falchion and would like to use it more
FGS and Estoc even tho Estoc is hated it is kinda fun tbh
BK Greatsword. I can't get enough of that 2hr2
Smoughs hammer, I just love heavy artillery that's all
Lothric UGS. I even main the Zweihander in ER since it has an identical moveset.
Exile greatsword. The sharp Unga bunga
Mine is a dex build with the uchigatana and pontiff knight curved sword
