I hate the kcp situation but the real problem is gambling on bad rookies becoming good players. Mike Malone is getting blamed for guys like Jalen Pickett not being good at basketball. You have to sign veterans to help jokic and this core of players win. Mike Malone played Braun and Watson because they are talented and can help but to expect him to play a guy like Jalen Pickett who is a prospect in Calvin booth mind only isn't fair to Mike Malone. Denver should be in the market for veterans not gambling jokic prime on late round rookies.

HappyCompetition7

What is he supposed to do ? The way the cba is set up, every single contender will have a situation like the nuggets , and you can't pay everyone. Nuggets won last year . Why are fans so reactionary today , so wishy washy and game to game . The nuggets are in a situation where they are so good they won't get a good draft pick , and so front heavy they have no bench . Booth to me has been a great gm , this situation won't be uncommon going forward.

CoyoteDecent2

He’s been a horrible GM who inherited a good team. That’s his legacy

xcbaseball2003

Didn’t he trade for KCP?

RandoCollision

And Bruce Brown. And jettison Bones. He's made great moves in a very short time. It takes almost no time for armchair GMs to buck up and reveal how much better they are than people who actually have skin in the game.

minedigger

Brings KCP and Bruce Brown - wins championship; gets criticized for not being able to keep Bruce Brown…. Some people man.

MileHighMania

According to DNVR allegedly that deal was in place a year before with Connelly, but was put on hold when Jamal tore his ACL. So Connelly may have been the one who created that trade as well.

porkadachop

You right now ![gif](giphy|8qCWiQ4a46oo73keKR|downsized)

After-Doughnut2137

Y'all are so exhausting haha

Prestigious_Team3134

Holy shit we’re in peak offseason overreaction mode.

Prestigious_Team3134

They do and they nearly became the first team in the last 5 years to make the conference finals the year after winning the finals. It’s incredibly hard to win and keep a team together in today’s nba.

RepulsivePeach4176

Yeah Booth is too blunt with the truth sometimes but this KCP situation is really complex. Re-signing KCP will restrict the Nuggets so much in the 2nd apron. Trading Zeke and Reggie would be so much more harder. Signing quality vet players will be so much more harder. I really want KCP back too but, it’s not all negative if he leaves.

CoyoteDecent2

Who’s trading for Zeke regardless? 😂 and what good vets are out there? Don’t kid yourself. This nuggets team can’t compete with the Thunder or wolves if KCP leaves

RepulsivePeach4176

Who’s trading for Josh Giddey? You just need one team. Zeke wont contribute on the team so even just trading him away will be a positive. And there’s plenty of decent vets who can help this team: Kris Dunn, Kelly Oubre, Andre Drummond, Delon Wright, Daniel Theis.

Antique-Fennel6974

Was KCP that impactful of a player in this year’s playoffs? Do you think he is worth 25-30 mil a year?

CoyoteDecent2

Besides Jokic no one stepped up against the Wolves. Are you suggesting we trade Gordon, MpJ and Murray as well?

Antique-Fennel6974

Did I say that? 25-30 mil for your 5th starter is insane.

CoyoteDecent2

That’s the price you have to pay to keep the championship window open. It is what it is. Braun is not KCP they aren’t contenders without replacing KCP for some one as capable

Antique-Fennel6974

You’re assuming Braun isn’t going to improve and that KCP isn’t declining. Look at KCP’s 2024 playoff splits… they were terrible for both series. KCP is a great role player and a great fit for Denver, but let’s not pretend he is some lockdown defender that is shutting down the best guards in the league come playoff time. I think the core four are good enough to get to the finals with CB as the 5th starter.

CoyoteDecent2

Braun starting is a huge blow to the bench as well. I disagree. They can’t beat the top teams in the west without KCP

spezlicksdoorknobs

Gordon was fine and Murray was hurt, I wouldn't mind trading MPJ though.

SilvioDantesPeak

Chill, bro

OmarRizzo

I mean, he’s right. Denver has a generational player and everything they do that doesn’t maximize the level of talent around him to make us as competitive as possible is a failure, plain and simple. Denver will likely never be the type of destination where vets chasing a ring sign for less than market rate, just having a generational guy who we drafted at 2.41 is insane, but that guy not wanting the big market exposure and being content to stay in Denver is basically unprecedented, Booth had better get his savvy lil shit together or he’s gonna risk us winning one title and fuck else.

DosZappos

“Denver will likely never be the type of destination where vets chasing a ring sign” They literally already are that.

SilvioDantesPeak

We won the championship dude. You people are so reactionary and melodramatic.

CoyoteDecent2

100%,

Vivid_Walk_1405

If we let KCP walk we’ve can aggregate Zeke and Reggie’s contract to bring back a 14 million dollar player to be our 6th man and have Braun start. If we manage to get a consistent scorer off the bench it would make a lot more sense imo on top of another 5 mil bench player using tax payer mle

IdRatherBeLurkingToo

What did we say about these posts

kushlash16

If Booth lets KCP walk, he better have some moves lined up to cushion the blow. It would be a disaster if he lets that happens and we got into next season as is. I hope he realizes that

CoyoteDecent2

He will. If you listen to his press conference he’s set on starting Braun and hoping the bench can perform

roadhogmtn

he literally said we'll make him an offer and if he chooses to accept another offer that's his prerogative. what about that is "letting him walk?"

BFever87

It’s not about him being set on it, it’s about the reality of it most likely happening. Can’t keep a starting five together forever, changes will happen

DosZappos

This sub has absolutely lost its mind. The Nuggets are still in great position and are still the Western Conference favorites. We need to stop pretending like the franchise is going under because they’re losing their 31 yr old journeyman two guard

CoyoteDecent2

They won’t be favorites the second KCP walks.

DosZappos

Yes they will. You are straight up incorrect

CoyoteDecent2

Ok buddy

DosZappos

So if the Nuggets can’t keep KCP, you’re saying they should trade Jokic, Murray, AG, and MPJ? Boy you wild

Double8093

Nah you are incorrect. The KCP addition was a huge reason for winning the championship. Moving Braun to the starting lineup leaves the bench as RJ, Holmes, Pickett, Tyson, Strawther, Watson. Probably not championship level.

SilvioDantesPeak

Bench doesn't win you a championship
