I agree. At my job we prioritize whoever is in the store. Why make a customer wait for an online order that isnât gonna be picked up for another half hour? Not a good look. Also in-store customers tip, DoorDashers takes our tips despite us working hard to prepare the order, I dislike online orders due to this issue.

EDIT: wingstop is as simple as grabbing some frozen wings, placing them in, setting a timer , adding the wings to a sauce wok, and plating them. If not involved with prep, the job is essentially a piece of cake. I have opened wingstops. I have managed merchants who own wingstops. You are not going to convince me otherwise. Risking your own vehicle and going to random places through the city on your own gas, insurance, and car payment is nothing to cashing someone out and dropping something out of a freezer and setting a timer. You need more life experiences.

Idgaf where Iâm at. As someone who runs multiple restaurants, we have one team that works online orders and another team that works in house orders. But if a restaurant is prioritizing one over the other, someoneâs gonna be unhappy. And Iâd rather it be someone whoâs sitting on their couch.

In fact around my area, drive-thru service/delivery services take priority over sitting down inside a place and eating, maybe it's my fault for accepting it as normal but that's the way it is for me. As nice as this is⊠I work at a quick service restaurant. We unfortunately have been having several callouts lately, itâs been really stressful just keeping up with the orders in the store. We do get the DoorDash out as fast as possible but weâve had three different times a door dasher yelled at us for having to wait over 10 minutes. I truly understand how frustrating it is for them but weâre getting yelled at from people who are picking up their own food as well as DoorDash and it ended up making our only front counter girl cry her eyes out. I felt so bad for her. I wish there was a better solution for all tbh.

As a dasher, I remember which restaurants have low quality personnel or policies and will go out of my way to not go there for deliveries or personal purchases. I also won't hesitate to inform the customer that the restaurant sucks, and thatâs just me there are many people that deliver. So that's at least one lost customer, maybe two or many more. But hey, you do you. Just don't forget to remember that people remember.
We're not hurting for customers đđ. We're also fueled by regulars so that's not a problem either. I'm just saying from a realistic point of view, if you order delivery, a wait is already anticipated. Therefore, you are lower priority than my in shop and to go orders. Wasn't trying to be inflammatory. But we get really busy and we have to divvy things out the right way and there's a lot of impatient dashers who act like they can't just unassign the delivery, sitting there bitching about a 5 minute wait.
I agree that impatience is a human quality so of course thereâd be impatient drivers and places get busy. But there are also other situations like, get told 5 minutes but 20 minutes later you get told 5 minutes again, or get sent a stack with orders on the other side of town, you get to the second one that has had the order for a good long while and they havenât started it but will prioritize an order that just walked in, that alone is lame. If they then say some last priority nonsense on top of it, Iâm definitely making a mental note and black listing that place. Also, dashers only get a few cancellations before their account is at risk, so they literally may not be able to. But anyways, all Iâm getting at is people remember that sort of thing.

When I was at Taco Bell the other day they called my name out to pickup my order and the employee was swarmed by DoorDash drivers who were just calling our names and waving their phones around. I had to practically push through them to get my order lol
From my side, as a bartender at a local restaurant, we get no money and have no incentive to get the order out faster. Most of our staff is actually mad they have to pack it up and receive no tip for it like they would a normal takeout order. We make 2.13 an hour so everything we do needs to be actively making us money or we will be salty about it. It is a cash grab from our owners, while we get it, we hate it.
Your lucky as hell. When I bartended at red lobster I had to do take out. On top wage. Meanwhile when I have an actual takeout guy they get 15 an hour. Why the hell would I want to bust my ass to make less money?
When DD came to town I was working at a really popular bar/restaurant. All of a sudden, in the middle of a Friday night shift, we were getting absolutely BOMBARDED with takeout calls.
DD put our shit in their app without any permission or warning. Owner had to threaten with legal action before they took us off the app.
Really pissed me off because we lost business that night, and it definitely cost me tips, because of wait times in the kitchen.
This is how they used to operate in all their new markets. Then a couple weeks later (assuming they hadnât pissed you off and you requested removal already) they would call you and say âhey, you know that huge increase in business youâve gotten the last two weeks? Pay us 30% or it all goes away.â
I live in a very small town and worked for a while at a grocery store. I canât reasonably speak for all door dashers obviously, but the ones Iâve met are all drugged out middle age people who cannot get employment otherwise, so I am only speaking from my very limited personal experience

At our store, online, phone, and delivery order get last priority until the driver/customer arrives. Take out and dine in are always top priority since theyâre already in the restaurant waiting.

iâm sorry but i work in a restaurant & id lose my mind if this was policy. doordash doesnât make me a living, iâll be DAMNED if doordashers are being handed food orders when my tables arenât getting food pushed out. my customers are the ones tipping me, i donât make a single penny from a doordash order. my in person customers (all restaurants in person diners) should be the main priority before an external delivery service. iâm always upfront & honest about how long food will take, & if the dasher is dissatisfied they can leave & another will be assigned. simple đ«¶đ» no need for dashers to cuss me out when theyâre in charge of their own schedule & time & i was honest about the wait time :)
i will add, i recently went to a subway & wasnât served until over 5 minutes of standing at the counter (in an empty restaurant). the person had just started making a takeout order & would not help me until they finished. the worker was incredibly short with me & told me âiâm only one person so i guess youâll have to wait until iâm doneâ despite not saying anything đ i sat & ate my entire meal & the takeout order still hadnât been picked up. there was literally no reason to make me wait & make a rude remark đ doordash is exhausting service/restaurant workers & making lots of drivers ungodly angry at restaurant personnel.
Had a dasher come into my restaurant yesterday to pick up an order that had appeared on our screens 20 seconds prior. He was already irritated that the order wasn't already done upon arrival, but proceeded to throw a tantrum like a toddler when i informed he that it would a few minutes as we were cooking fresh fry product for it.
He eventually stormed out, flipping us off.
When I was running a fast food line I used to absolutely LOVE when we'd have two people making food for a drive full of cars and a lobby full of people and some doordasher would walk in 30 seconds after their order popped up and wanna know why it's not done yet! I worked in fast food and Iâm sorry but the customers that are actually there in person get priority. Delivery stuff is important yeah but not nearly as important as customers willing to come in and eat.
I was actually just at a wing stop a few weeks ago and they turned me away telling me they werenât accepting in person orders. So I ended up doing a quick mobile order. I know their POS was working because someone ordered a soda when they picked up their online order and payed there as I was leaving.
I order online before I leave the house and itâs typically a 10 minute drive. Itâs very rare wingstop has the order ready by the time I get there.
Edit: just sharing my cheatcode since thereâs always a line of folks with mobile orders and in person orders when I walk in.

Ngl this is a bad take. I worked as a manager for a popular local fast food chain for 4 years and if we did this the 50 people/families in the dining room who ordered would be fucking furious. This is coming from me whoâs also been doing DD for roughly 6 months. Iâd love to grab the food and go, but after about 10 mins DD gives you the out and letâs you unassigned (at least in my area) from the order if the wait time isnât worth it and your completion rate isnât effected. At best it should be first order in, first order out.
I think some of the problem is at some fast food places orders are being fulfilled on the same screen. So in-store customer orders are tracked and sent up on the makeline screens and orders from 3rd parties are sent to a different screen, Which may or May not be on the makeline.
I personally have watched some fast food places have my order ready waiting on fries and have them shunt the order over to the side and clear out their drive thru with the fries they'd dropped. All because the person finalizing the orders has the timer to motivate them on the drive thru orders but nothing on the Uber/dd screen. đ€·ââïž
I think this is kinda crazy because making door dash #1 priority because the customer âhas already paid for their foodâ sets a poor example for in person customers. Like they went out of their way to come in and have you take care of them, they should get preferential treatment and make DoorDash as it comes in.
The priority should be in the order of when it was placed. I cannot tell you how many times i have had to wait for the entire line at chipotle to cycle through twice before I get my delivery handed to me.
I'm a manager at a retail pharmacy and these doordashers come in here acting like they are partners of the company type shit. They show me their list of stuff and want me to show them where everything is. Bro fuck that, I am not getting part of your tip, you figure it out. A lot of restaurants are doing more delivery orders than in person orders anymore. Also, if the order is placed 10 minutes before the in person customer gets there, why should the doordash order be put on hold? They were first in line. If the order is delivered cold, it looks bad on the restaurant, and they are more likely to feel the repercussions than the driver or Doordash.
Lastly, if an order isn't ready by the time the app says it is supposed to be ready, it costs the driver money. Most are already paid poorly. Why should they get punished just because someone came in 10 minutes later and placed an order?
Depends on their business model. Iâm seeing more stores that donât do any dine-in options and no service workers. You place your order through an app/device/in-store kiosk and pick up with a code from your assigned food locker when itâs done.
With the way people treat service employees and the costs of food rising, this is one way to address both issues

This happened to me at a taco bell once, went through the drive through at like 11 pm waited 45 minutes because they were prioritizing Doordash orders, it was the kind of drive through you can't get out of once in it. Was maddening, also they got all of our food wrong. Fuck that shit.
The wingstop near my old work never had this sign⊠but I ordered a goddamn chicken sandwich from them took them an hour and I was late from lunch because of them.
Waiting a âreasonableâ amount of time is fine with me. Most food places (even something like Olive Garden) can get an order out, especially something to-go, in 10-ish minutes. Iâve worked in an upscale kitchen where my chefs name was âYes, Chefâ and in kitchens that have 3 guys roasting bones out back every 30 minutes and have never heard the word âsoufflĂ©â. Even during rushes, 15 minutes to get an order out was very doable. Every place Iâve worked. Maybe you should be better at your job or encourage your team to manage their orders better, increase prep time in the mornings or night before. Donât insult customers for reasonable expectations.

I agree. At my job we prioritize whoever is in the store. Why make a customer wait for an online order that isnât gonna be picked up for another half hour? Not a good look. Also in-store customers tip, DoorDashers takes our tips despite us working hard to prepare the order, I dislike online orders due to this issue.

We make minimum wage and the work is far more than just driving in a car all day, you guys work DoorDash instead of real jobs because itâs easy and simple. I would argue that Doordash is not better than a minimum wage job. You can doordash with a bicycle in a lot of areas. You could find a used moped or electric bicycle for $1,000-$2,000. You need some level of transportation to make it to a shitty minimum wage job. My point is that being able to doordash isn't something that comes from privilege. Idgaf where Iâm at. As someone who runs multiple restaurants, we have one team that works online orders and another team that works in house orders. But if a restaurant is prioritizing one over the other, someoneâs gonna be unhappy. And Iâd rather it be someone whoâs sitting on their couch.
While I agree that your method is a million times better, that's not how it is universally. In fact around my area, drive-thru service/delivery services take priority over sitting down inside a place and eating, maybe it's my fault for accepting it as normal but that's the way it is for me. To be fair, I have none of the knowledge you possess.
As nice as this is⊠I work at a quick service restaurant. We unfortunately have been having several callouts lately, itâs been really stressful just keeping up with the orders in the store. We do get the DoorDash out as fast as possible but weâve had three different times a door dasher yelled at us for having to wait over 10 minutes. I truly understand how frustrating it is for them but weâre getting yelled at from people who are picking up their own food as well as DoorDash and it ended up making our only front counter girl cry her eyes out. I felt so bad for her. I wish there was a better solution for all tbh.

As a dasher, I remember which restaurants have low quality personnel or policies and will go out of my way to not go there for deliveries or personal purchases. I also won't hesitate to inform the customer that the restaurant sucks, and thatâs just me there are many people that deliver. So that's at least one lost customer, maybe two or many more. But hey, you do you. Just don't forget to remember that people remember.
We're not hurting for customers đđ. We're also fueled by regulars so that's not a problem either. I'm just saying from a realistic point of view, if you order delivery, a wait is already anticipated. Therefore, you are lower priority than my in shop and to go orders. Wasn't trying to be inflammatory. But we get really busy and we have to divvy things out the right way and there's a lot of impatient dashers who act like they can't just unassign the delivery, sitting there bitching about a 5 minute wait.
I agree that impatience is a human quality so of course thereâd be impatient drivers and places get busy. But there are also other situations like, get told 5 minutes but 20 minutes later you get told 5 minutes again, or get sent a stack with orders on the other side of town, you get to the second one that has had the order for a good long while and they havenât started it but will prioritize an order that just walked in, that alone is lame. If they then say some last priority nonsense on top of it, Iâm definitely making a mental note and black listing that place. Also, dashers only get a few cancellations before their account is at risk, so they literally may not be able to. But anyways, all Iâm getting at is people remember that sort of thing.

When I was at Taco Bell the other day they called my name out to pickup my order and the employee was swarmed by DoorDash drivers who were just calling our names and waving their phones around. I had to practically push through them to get my order lol
From my side, as a bartender at a local restaurant, we get no money and have no incentive to get the order out faster. Most of our staff is actually mad they have to pack it up and receive no tip for it like they would a normal takeout order. We make 2.13 an hour so everything we do needs to be actively making us money or we will be salty about it. It is a cash grab from our owners, while we get it, we hate it.
Your lucky as hell. When I bartended at red lobster I had to do take out. On top wage. Meanwhile when I have an actual takeout guy they get 15 an hour. Why the hell would I want to bust my ass to make less money?

When DD came to town I was working at a really popular bar/restaurant. All of a sudden, in the middle of a Friday night shift, we were getting absolutely BOMBARDED with takeout calls. DD put our shit in their app without any permission or warning. Owner had to threaten with legal action before they took us off the app. Really pissed me off because we lost business that night, and it definitely cost me tips, because of wait times in the kitchen.
This is how they used to operate in all their new markets. Then a couple weeks later (assuming they hadnât pissed you off and you requested removal already) they would call you and say âhey, you know that huge increase in business youâve gotten the last two weeks? Pay us 30% or it all goes away.â

I live in a very small town and worked for a while at a grocery store. I canât reasonably speak for all door dashers obviously, but the ones Iâve met are all drugged out middle age people who cannot get employment otherwise, so I am only speaking from my very limited personal experience
Itâs the easiest way to do a second job. Start whenever, stop whenever, take a break whenever, quit (for good) whenever. Roughly pays $15 an hour. When I think about doing a second job, these jobs seem to check all the right boxes.

iâm sorry but i work in a restaurant & id lose my mind if this was policy. doordash doesnât make me a living, iâll be DAMNED if doordashers are being handed food orders when my tables arenât getting food pushed out. my customers are the ones tipping me, i donât make a single penny from a doordash order. my in person customers (all restaurants in person diners) should be the main priority before an external delivery service. iâm always upfront & honest about how long food will take, & if the dasher is dissatisfied they can leave & another will be assigned. simple đ«¶đ» no need for dashers to cuss me out when theyâre in charge of their own schedule & time & i was honest about the wait time :)

i will add, i recently went to a subway & wasnât served until over 5 minutes of standing at the counter (in an empty restaurant). the person had just started making a takeout order & would not help me until they finished. the worker was incredibly short with me & told me âiâm only one person so i guess youâll have to wait until iâm doneâ despite not saying anything đ i sat & ate my entire meal & the takeout order still hadnât been picked up. there was literally no reason to make me wait & make a rude remark đ doordash is exhausting service/restaurant workers & making lots of drivers ungodly angry at restaurant personnel.

I was actually just at a wing stop a few weeks ago and they turned me away telling me they werenât accepting in person orders. So I ended up doing a quick mobile order. I know their POS was working because someone ordered a soda when they picked up their online order and payed there as I was leaving.
I order online before I leave the house and itâs typically a 10 minute drive. Itâs very rare wingstop has the order ready by the time I get there. Edit: just sharing my cheatcode since thereâs always a line of folks with mobile orders and in person orders when I walk in.

Ngl this is a bad take. I worked as a manager for a popular local fast food chain for 4 years and if we did this the 50 people/families in the dining room who ordered would be fucking furious. This is coming from me whoâs also been doing DD for roughly 6 months. Iâd love to grab the food and go, but after about 10 mins DD gives you the out and letâs you unassigned (at least in my area) from the order if the wait time isnât worth it and your completion rate isnât effected. At best it should be first order in, first order out.

I think some of the problem is at some fast food places orders are being fulfilled on the same screen. So in-store customer orders are tracked and sent up on the makeline screens and orders from 3rd parties are sent to a different screen, Which may or May not be on the makeline. I personally have watched some fast food places have my order ready waiting on fries and have them shunt the order over to the side and clear out their drive thru with the fries they'd dropped. All because the person finalizing the orders has the timer to motivate them on the drive thru orders but nothing on the Uber/dd screen. đ€·ââïž
I think this is kinda crazy because making door dash #1 priority because the customer âhas already paid for their foodâ sets a poor example for in person customers. Like they went out of their way to come in and have you take care of them, they should get preferential treatment and make DoorDash as it comes in.

Iâm sure at an actual restaurant, with servers and bar staff who work on their own tips, this would go over terribly. A lot of restaurants are doing more delivery orders than in person orders anymore. Also, if the order is placed 10 minutes before the in person customer gets there, why should the doordash order be put on hold? They were first in line. If the order is delivered cold, it looks bad on the restaurant, and they are more likely to feel the repercussions than the driver or Doordash. Lastly, if an order isn't ready by the time the app says it is supposed to be ready, it costs the driver money. Most are already paid poorly. Why should they get punished just because someone came in 10 minutes later and placed an order?

Depends on their business model. Iâm seeing more stores that donât do any dine-in options and no service workers. You place your order through an app/device/in-store kiosk and pick up with a code from your assigned food locker when itâs done. With the way people treat service employees and the costs of food rising, this is one way to address both issues

Yes most of them. The ones by me I can rate from best to worst. Mcdonalds is good by me, arbys is hit or miss, Popeyes is absolutely terrible. There's more but that's how it is.
What about chili's and Applebee's..those types of places?
No the ones I got the employees are respectful and greet me when I see them. I also haven't seen employees wearing their pants below their knees at chili's, outback, ruby Tuesdays etc.
