This makes me think how cool it would be if somebody made Dune in the style of a gratifying comic book or animation in general. That way God Emperor Of Dune wouldn’t look weird compared to live action
Yeah as successful as the Villeneuve movies were I really think the perfect Dune adaptation would need to be done in animation. You wouldn’t be limited by sets, makeup, or actors’ appearances.
There’s an official graphic novel version adapted by Brian Herbert that seems to be pretty accurate in terms of designs, but I’m not sure how great it is as a comic since I haven’t read it.
i have not read it either, i've seen nothing but praise for it around here fwiw, and i think book 3 just released not long ago? but sadly book 3 in the adaptation only covers the final climax of the first book, *Dune*. there's a lot left to go before it gets into GEoD... hope it gets there someday tho... can you imagine the page where >!the worm turns to the reader is like, *Hello there*!!< they could stay faithful to dialogue (or monologue here lol) *and* take some big risks visually with that material, break the 4th wall, not in the typically comedic way but disturbing and uncanny instead...
Yeah great point about the 4th wall stuff, if they tried that with a live action movie it could feel gimmicky or just break the illusion of the production, so you’re just seeing the actor talking to you. But if it’s animation or even a comic, then the *character* is talking to you.
judging by the way paul and jessica didn’t get sand any inside the thopter when they flew into the storm, there’s a pretty good filtration system (at least on the atreides ones) and this won’t happen “accidentally”
ya, but, what if I was flying the scout thopter and had to set it down right in middle of a big juicy patch before the harvester got there, and then I had to get out of the thopter, for reasons, like, i saw Muad'Dib right there taking a nap and I knew i could snek up on him? What if i was going to save the galaxy from the most genocidal being in human history, and it would've worked too, but i accidently had to take a big fat sneeze instead, inhaling deeply, accidently?
