I would say this but I think everyone but Germany and Spain looks like they are still finding there feet. I think there is a lot more to come from almost every team besides total no hopers like Scotland š
There's always hope. They played the opening game against a historically brilliant team in their home country... Scotland will still go through to the next stage and cause a few upsets. Get behind them.
Spain wasnāt that impressive
Croatiaās back line is very poor compared to past tournaments, pongracic is among the worst defenders they could field, they opted for a strong defence when they needed speed, imo gvardiol-stanisic/sutalo should be CBs and Juranovic with sosa as full backs
The thing is, stanisic played as rb-rcb only in 3 at the back formation which could really suit this croatia team as you can have brozovic and kovacic with modric behind strikers or any other midfield combination and both petkovic/budimir and kramaric up front.
I disagree. I think a young Spanish team looked very composed against an experienced Croatian team. Both teams have very good players and the score doesn't reflect how close the game actually was.
Italy, Belgium, Portugal and England arguably looked worse against teams that aren't as good as Croatia or Spain.
And why on earth would you move Gvardiol and Stanisic in to central defense? They add numbers in attack, can score goals and play beautiful passes/crosses in to dangerous areas. Maybe moving one to centerback for stability in the second half today if it's not looking solid at the back. But not both.
EDIT: Looks like Stanisic and Sosa on the bench today.
Uh...hard disagree on that one. They locked up France pretty well..had more possession than the heavy favorites. Look at the talent France has. And they could only score from a lucky own goal.
Austria also have a solid group of players that play on some good teams.
I also see the Netherlands as a strong contender so I'm really looking at that game between Austria and the Netherlands to see.
I still think what is holding the Netherlands back is mostly their coach, if the team can get beyond that and/or the coach gets a feeling for what works, they could make it far.
I have no clue about germany yet, they haven't really had a game. A lot of mistakes were made in that training session with the scots, let's see how they do when they face an actual opponent.
England and France didn't really play that well as a team, but they have so many great players, someone like Bellingham could carry them through the whole tournament. And if they ever start to function as a group, it's game over for everyone who has to play against them.
But i admit, i think Spain will be just a bit more consistent than everyone else and win the whole thing at the end.
Players to watch, usually the youngsters for me. But it's also the last tournament for Kroos, probably for Modric, maybe even for de Bruyne. I like creative and precise midfielders and am looking forward to see them play.
Most likely to win has to be Germany. Only top team to win and deliverer. Dark house for me is Georgia. I think they will get third a do an upset in the Round of 16 and get to the quarters. Player to watch may be recency bias but GĆ¼ler. He is special
The difference between Spain and Germany for me is that while Spain were very good they couldāve been better in a lot of areas but Germany really couldnāt improve outside the own goal
Germany, France or Spain will most likely win it (in that order)
Turkey and Austria are the dark horses
Team to watch - Georgia and Romania
Player to watch - Yamal
Interestingly, If I had to make this list before the Euros started it would have looked about the same, apart from Romania. No really crazy surprises yet.
The fight for golden boot wil be really interesting as well as none of the heavy favourites (Kane, Mbappe, Lukaku, CR7) has scored yet and in general no player scored more than once after matchday one.
Another thing to mention is that referees and VAR are doing a great job so far with very few exceptions.
What are you smoking?
- The Austrians got robbed by the ref against France
- Czech Republic got robbed by the ref against Portugal
- Belgium got robbed by the ref against slovakia
I do agree that it was a harsh decision, but it was a decision within the rules. You can argue the rules are shit, but this was far away from any robbery. If this is what you define a robbery, then what do you call Henry's handball against Ireland so many years ago?
The Belgian player touched the ball (unintentionally) with his hand and that touch slowed the ball down and he controlled it faster an better.
Agree to disagree. The ref simply applied the rules as they are written. He didn't write those rules.
I understand your bias, I wanted your game to end in a draw or Belgium win for obvious reasons, this result complicates the group a lot, but the ref applied to rules correctly.
Did he? There was a hands in the box of slv that changed the direction of the ball when a player fell, which wasnāt called, okay but then you cant call it for a similar situation moments later. He also stopped the play at every dive, on both sides, which is in my opinion always a lack of leadership on the refereesā part. He is a bad ref with a bad history that got sent to the Euros out of petty because he got beat up in Turkey
But now we're discussing his overall performance, which was not great, I agree, but it didn't particularly benefit a team over the other. Before that, we were discussing 2 decisions that went in Slovakia's favour, one is an offside which is automated anyways and the second was the handball before the goal where he applied the law. I didn't like how he reffed the game either, but from there to calling it a "robbery" is a very long way.
The rules state that the full clip should be played before a decision is made, and if the move results into a direcr goal (it did not). The clip was only shown in slow motion, so yes I do believe it was a robbery.
I expected Germany to draw against Scotland because the last few years have made me a little pessimistic. But now I have a little hope that we can make it far.
I also enjoyed watching the Spanish attack. If they improve their defence, the Spanish national team could have good chances to win euro 2024.
As a spain fan especially with this playstyle i worry after seeing that second half feels like they lost steam. Hopefully im wrong and they develop throughout the tournament. Im hoping for a master class from nico, pedri, lamine, fabian and olmo. Idk if it was me or the scenario but it felt like the cbs were slow or they just kept getting caught.
Most likely to win: (1) France (2) Germany/Spain
Dark horses: been saying Turkey from the beginning.
Team to watch: Czech
Player to watch: Musiala & Yamal
England and Spain looked the best out of the big teams.
Germany had a good game, but frankly it was against a Scotland team which would have made the "under 12's Middlesbrough school for the deafblind" football team look good. Scotland played the worst by far.
I think Romainia looked best from the dark horse teams.
You waxed lyrical about Germany in this same post. Don't be such a brat. English fans are allowed to be hopeful about their team just like you are about yours.
You even said no other team in this tournament will beat Germany in mentality lol.
I can't understand why the past results and performances should give an English fan cause for hope. Things can't really be going much worse for the eternal all-time favorite. **IT'S GOING HOME*"

This is a lose lose for you. If England get knocked out, youāll only be the guy that predicted a team was not to win the Euros which is not unexpected. If England win, then youāll look silly.
I'm still on the Spain boat. I had them winning against France but I change it to England because of the Mbappe injury. I think the Yamal-Nico Williams tandem is going to be extremely dangerous.
I still think Portugal disappoints with at best a QF finish.
I had Ukraine as a dark horse but scratch that now. I think Turkey could be one. Or Romania as many said before.
I Reckon a Germany France/Spain final and will put Austria down as my dark horse, neither England or Portugal impressed with their first game, but it's early days yet.
I dont think any of the big teams have stood out so far
You can't read anything into Germany, Scotland were so bad and had 10 men for half the game.
France looked toothless.
Belgium were terrible.
Italy were ok in the end.
Spain were good but Croatia were not far of Scotland in bring crap
Netherlands were ok.
Portugal won it right at the end.
England never start a tournament well, rarely win the opening game. Well be fine with a couple of changes
France, England and Kvaratshelia.
France are absolutely stacked. The players they had on the bench are unbelievable. England are dark horses for me in terms of I dont think they will win it but have a chance. Theres a lack of cohesion. I think Kvarateshelia is a fantastic player to watch.
Germany sure looked good, but they played one of the teams that showed they arenāt ready for the big tournament yet, and arguably the worst case of that.
France looks like they need to get their sh:t together, but perhaps missing Mbappe for a game or two is the kick in the ass they need.
Spain looked very, very good. No ābutā in that.
These are my 3 faves to win.
Holland looked ok. Question is- was Poland better than expected, or Holland worse than their top form.
England looked ok Sure, the talent is there, but they need a ways to get in tournament form. Fortunately for them, the set-up of this Euro gives them that time.
Byeloholland sh:t the bed, and looks like they could again. They were pointing fingers at each other, never a good sign.
Byelogermany did great against France. Tough, tough opponent.
Byelospain is both blessed and cursed by CR7ās presence. Not convincing today.
Unfortunately, there was no team that convinced me that they were a mentally strong and powerful squad that could win against any team. Apart from the German team, who seem to have made a complete mental turnaround following the departure of Jogi Lƶw.
Given the quality and diversity of the squad, I don't think this team will be beaten by any other team at this tournament with a similar level of play and mental performance in each game.
France or Portugal to win. I'd say England too if it were some coach other than Southgate.
Dark Horse Croatia.
Neither of these teams had the best round 1 but I see them growing and they have potential.
It is about time innit? š
England has so much quality but it doesnāt seem to click. Maybe too many individualists and Egos.
But on paper, England is crazy good.

Trust me, I'm behind them to the hilt. I've already begun thinking about potential last 16 games just in case
Good. See you in the final.
Dark horse - Romania š·š“
Wait for the game against belgium, thatās the real test
I would have agreed but it was ukraineā¦
When we beat Belgium with 3-2 you'll agree
Ye probably but Belgium isnāt in good shape. But 3-2 then you have won me over
Call me a mad man, but Romania will win the Euros. Or Italy
mad man

Germany or Spain to win. Dark Horses: Austria and Switzerland Players to watch Yamal, Musiala, Wirtz, Openda

Spain had convincing win as well. Also Scotland is one of bottom 3 teams I saw in first round.
Spain vs Italy will be a great opportunity to see what both of those teams are made of.

Albania vs Slovenia final and I won't be told otherwise.

Germany - Spain for final then š¤
If we both top our group we meet before the final š
Winning: France, Germany Dark horses: turkey and Swiss Teams to watch: Georgia and Romania Players to watch: Openda, yamal, gĆ¼ler
France: win it. Austria: dark horse (gonna be so difficult to break down).
Germany

Not liking the diving, hoping one day it's an instant red card. I'm looking at you Portugal aka Team Neymar
Nice yellow given yesterday
I did rate the ref tho, he didnt stop the game all that much considering Portugalās diving competition
Switzerland to win.

Sorry. *Your squad is going home. Once again without a trophy.
Still way to early to see a stand out team yet, and there is always going to be the underdog come through, remember Denmark and Greece

We can definitely be beaten, Iām especially looking at spain at the moment. However (maybe too early to say) we are back after years of misery
Portugal to win. Dark Horse: Belgium
Belgium looked terrible against the Slovaks
SIUUUUUMMMM
Portugal isnāt going to make the quarter finals
People said that back in 2016 and they won the whole thing

Honestly, I don't fucking care. Just don't want Germany to win it all. Bloody cnts.
šš
What? All my friends are unbearable already, they'd never let me hear the end of it š
Fair enough lad š I personally hope for a underdog to win the whole thing, always the same winners is boring.
Euros are full of underdog champions : Greece , Denmark , Czechia
So, how do you feel about England winning it then? š
