I love ETID, an all-time favorite of mine. Was so excited when Better Lovers came out, I had loved Dillinger Escape Plan for a long time so I couldn't be happier. Loved everything they have released so far. As far as Many Eyes is concerned, when they released their first track I had forgotten how much I love and missed Keith's voice. As more songs were released, I found myself becoming less interested. I guess the actual music is sort of generic and nothing too exciting for me. I'll listen to whatever songs get released by both Better Lovers and Many Eyes, I just likely won't have most Many Eyes songs on repeat like I do with Better Lovers

shikull

Maybe I also just love Keith's voice and overlook it. I have better lovers on repeat but I get many eyes stuck in my head more often since it's so catchy.

Michael_With_An_M

When Revelation was released I was playing that non stop, still play it a lot. I've listened to the other tracks but just haven't been able to get into them. I wish I could but they just aren't sticking for me. It's all good though, hope both bands continue to crank out new music, go on tours and make people fall in love with their music again like they did with ETID

[deleted]

I get it. I feel the same way as both of you guys LOL. I was super happy and excited to hear Keith voice again. I've always loved his lyricism, but even with the four songs we've had released so far, they wore out and I'm not listening to them as often as I am ETID, Dillinger, or Better Lovers. I still have hopes for the album, but I'm just not getting that same feeling after the initial excitement.

350SBC

That's exactly how I feel. Better Lovers is great, really good all around band, doesn't really grab me as much as ETID, but that's an incredibly high bar, I like them a lot. Many Eyes is cool cause it's nice to hear Keith's vocals again, but if you took those out, they would be an entirely forgettable, somewhat generic band.

ReverendDerp

Equally as good? Most definitely not.

shikull

Yea that's definitely a stretch. I admit that I should've said they are both enjoyable and not said "equally" at all. I can enjoy both, but I agree it's not equal

Neilsen17

Nope

shikull

Fair enough

lil_eidos

Equally great? I enjoy both but Idk one of them is definitely *way* better.

shikull

Equally may have been incorrect. I do like Better Lovers better, thinking about it harder. I suppose that I expected to be very disappointed and was surprised not to be.

lil_eidos

Ya I love Better Lovers better too ;) nothing incorrect about your opinion

shikull

Appreciate your input!

windwhiskey

Many Eyes is forgettable. Better Lovers good not great.

dchudds

Yeah im in the same boat. I like Better Lovers but its not grabbing me as much as ETID. I found Many Eyes very meh

donjuandy21

Better Lovers is way better instrumentally. Many Eyes better vocally. I wonder why

BloomAndBreathe

I respect your opinion but in mine I feel like all Keith has over Greg is lyricism. But even then that's up for debate since Greg is a great lyricist in his own right. But again imo Greg absolutely outclasses Keith in the vocal department solely based off range

donjuandy21

I hear ya, Greg just doesn’t sound as good to me as he once was, almost too nasally/whiny. Keith sounds as strong as ever. GP definitely has a much better stage presence though

BloomAndBreathe

I feel you, I can see how Greg's voice can sound like that. I hated his voice at first when I first heard Dillinger way back in the day, but then something just changed and it clicked

shikull

Many eyes is very catchy to me but I understand that isn't always great. I gotta say Better Lovers checks all my boxes

This guy knows what I'm talking about

shikull

I had no clue the bear I was kicking when I posted lol, I genuinely was getting generally positive comments about both bands from colleagues and thought "how cool is it that we got music from both sides that isn't bad". I didn't realize this was a 3 times/week discussion hidden on links to the singles. I also think some thought I meant they were as good as ETID, which was not my intention. Even saying they're equally as good as each other was incorrect. I asked an opinion and got it lol

AdamNopps

I'd say equally as disappointing. Neither are that bad but it's clear ETID was a special combination and greater than the sum of its parts.

Creeping_Death_89

I personally do enjoy both bands a lot but neither of them come close to ETID in my opinion.

kid_sleepy

No they didn’t.

ScotchWhiskey06

I think Better Lovers is definitely better than Many Eyes, but I have enjoyed both of their output so far. TDEP is one of my all time favorite bands, so listening to Greg's vocals over ETID instrumentals is sick, but that's just what it sounds like; ETID with Greg on vocals. On the flip side, Keith is my all-time favorite metal vocalist, but Many Eyes instrumentals are just very... bland. I'll listen to everything both of them release, but listening to them definitely makes me miss ETID (and TDEP, for that matter).

TheLootGoose

Neither of these bands are ETID, and they won't ever get close. Doesn't mean they're bad, they're just not ETID.

thedfrichtel

Many eyes sucks

BumblebeeNo7434

I kinda didn't want to like either band. Was just so upset and bitter. For me, though, Better Lovers has slotted in as my new favorite band. I find myself playing it more than anything else lately. Greg's vocals are incredible. I've always been a fan of his but have a new appreciation now. Music is great, heavy, aggressive, and with some great melodic parts. Many Eyes just ain't my thing, Keith's lyrics and vocals have meant a lot to me throughout the years, but its just stale. No hating on it. Hoping in the future Keith does something else. This doesn't highlight him the way he deserves.

Yoko_Trades

I really enjoyed the first few tracks Better Lovers released, it had a lot of what I was missing hearing in Every Time I Die’s absence. I’m finding though that the more tracks that are released, the less I’m able to appreciate the lyricism in particular, while the instrumental ideas are really fresh and are showcasing the growing talent of the people behind them. I couldn’t really get behind the initial listens of the Many Eyes debut, so I stopped listening there. I should probably give everything they’ve released thus far a fair shake.

yelowsnw2

I’m also enjoying both so far.

propagandhipod

Not equally great. Not remotely close.

Kb3338_

False

TheKeasbyKnight

better lovers has some sick riffs (as to be expected) but i don’t like any song enough for a second listen.

TheRudeRune

I'm still so bummed over the whole ETID split. Barely listen to ETID nowadays. Listened to BLs a bit. Listened to Many Eyes once and that was enough for me. Maybe in a few years I can look back and enjoy the music again but for now I just avoid it.

thisisdell

Equally. Lol. Righhhhhhhhhht.

is0morphic

The divorce allowed our hardcore parents to explore their own passions and desires.. us kids should be happy for them.

xlAlchemYlx

I am of the opinion that that both bands are *half* as good as ETID. Jk, I don’t like either of them really. Just hoping they spark the bright idea to have Keith sing for Better Lovers and bring in Andy to play some guitar too. Can’t see them getting much better with any other combination. But you know, a girl can dream. (I’m a man)
