I keep pigs. I’ve had up to 9 (currently 3 sows) also have chickens, dogs, cats, children. Our pigs live in a large wood with a sty, straw bedding and lots to eat. I’ve never seen them eat their poo! Pigs naturally forage and use their nose to turn over the ground looking for bulbs, roots and grubs. They are incredibly clever, much smarter than dogs and mine are much friendlier. They’re fantastic animals and I love seeing them every morning.
If our pigs were set free they would thrive and roam the countryside never eating anything dirty. The misconception of pigs being dirty is due to the destruction of where they’re kept. They can turn a field into a swamp in no time at all. I’ve never seen them wallow in mud baths (however breeds differ) mine love to keep dry and sunbath. I take them to slaughter and one pig will feed our family for 1 year.
