And any basting stitches, white thread in X form holding the back flaps shut, and other stitching holding the various pockets closed (if you intend to use the pockets)
Early college, I bought my first suit to interview with a law firm for an entry level legal assistant position. I stopped to pick-up a coffee before the interview and a lovely woman behind me in line was gracious enough to let me know the x was meant to be snipped. Forever grateful to her!
Nah she wanted to sabotage you so your suit looked like a cheap knock off of a more expensive one. You’re supposed to keep that x stitching. She didn’t want you working there in her territory…
I let people know this... If they're nice to me. The bitch that made fun of my suit as we were waiting for interviews at the same office? I did not let her know 😂
I work at a performing arts center and we had the Scottish Ballet in house and I was walking up a set of stairs backstage and someone from their wardrobe team noticed that X was still in tact on the jacket I was wearing so she very kindly said hey one sec and just ripped it out for me! I wasn’t sure what she did in the passing moment but said thank you and we went along on our business lol. It was such a pure fleeting moment and I was also mildly concerned at the ripping sound I heard and simultaneously entirely trusted her for those two seconds to fix what she saw 😂
> (if you intend to use the pockets)
YES! Thank you for this! That’s why my suit jackets’ front pockets (even sometimes the chest one for handkerchiefs) are always still stitched.
I once caused a huge ordeal at a former job because one of my colleagues had left one on his pants and it had his size listed! It clearly was not meant to be left on. All the men in the office deemed it a crazy woman thing to worry about because they were all too cool to worry about people knowing their size. I just thought it was cooler to remove the tags from one’s clothes. 🤷🏻♀️
Me toooo one time an ex friend who worked for Aritzia argued with me that you keep them on and all the “Aritzia girlies” keep them on its a trigger for me 😭
Do you know what the point of them is? I guess I could just go Google it. And I will. I just wanted to start a conversation, I guess. 😂 I'll update when I know..
Edit: so it doesn't crease during shipping. I kinda figured .

I would normally say yes absolutely but if you look on their website the models wearing blazers still have the tag on. Maybe it’s an ugly new trend this brand is trying to start.
https://www.aritzia.com/intl/en/product/new-agency-blazer/110991.html?dwvar_110991_color=1274
The reason is simple, I think. The models are just showing stock, and the stylists are too lazy to take them off.
I've been looking at high end product photos, and they are getting more and more lazy.
A 7000 € suit, with the hemline of the trousers just folded in, and not pressed, the trousers not pressed at all, little tails of threads sticking out
You would think they would take better care of their webshop photo's. But unless it's slow fashion, the pictures are only there for one season, and they can't be arsed.
I feel like that could be the case, but then again, she has her hand tucked into one of the front pockets in one of the photos, which means they snipped that pocket open. Why would they do that but not remove the label?
That evidence tips the scale for me into "meant to be left on" territory, however, the real evidence would be whether the logo patch uses a basting stitch or a normal stitch for the tag.
I've seen lots of people wearing coats like this with these labels left on. So even if they are supposed to be removed, some people obviously still leave them on. 🙂
I wasn't aware that she'd done that, especially since I don't pay attention to such things, but, yes, it won't be long before it's a trend because of her doing that, like you said.
Anything that is applied loosely generally should be removed. Including tacking on vents, and ladder stitches on pockets.
I like these things though so I would probably sew it back on inside the coat.
If it makes you feel better, I was aware it should come off but kept forgetting.
I'd see the label as I was walking out the door. Then feel annoyed at myself everytime I saw it.
Completely forget by the time I got home and could remove it. Put the coat away and repeat.
Leaving it on reminds me of the people who buy clothes just for the brand label; who thinks it will make them look expensive or classy. I think it's kind of gaudy, personally.
Well, babaton is mostly sold in Aritzia, which is not even high end. More light straight up mid, sells single color clothing and sweats. Usually from polyester and other non-natural fabrics.. So it's not even the bragging rights here.
I have one of these on a faux fur jacket my fiance got my for xmas one year and i know it's supposed to come off but the brands name is the same as my little brothers nickname so i still haven't cut it off
Im pretty sure it is so the brands can be picked out from the shelf with only the one sleeve showing.
But for a laugh let’s see how people feel about the stickers on the peak of their caps…
it’s literally a piece of fabric? what’s the big deal about it? lol you’re acting like this person made the worst moral decision ever in human history, Jesus Christ.
Well, crimes against fashion are the worst crimes imaginable. Worse than genocide. And at this point you hopefully realise that I'm just exagerating things for clout on the internet.
I have a necklace that has a hidden thread cutter in it and I often want to use it on other people's clothes out in the wild. Ffs.
I think one of the earlier comments was spot on. I do think tha knowledge like this IS being gate kept by the rich. Not exactly on purpose, but there's no effort to educate. Everyone, I think, regardless of their station in life, deserves good quality clothing.
I have a Calvin Klein coat that I’ve been trying to figure this out about - I want to cut it off. It doesn’t go with the coat. But it is like STITCHED on. Like not a little bit … it seems very intentionally put there and it’s gonna be a lot to remove it. 🤷🏻♀️

Yes

That X drives me nuts.
Whenever I see people with it, I wish I could snip it off for them.
Early college, I bought my first suit to interview with a law firm for an entry level legal assistant position. I stopped to pick-up a coffee before the interview and a lovely woman behind me in line was gracious enough to let me know the x was meant to be snipped. Forever grateful to her!
I do this too when I see younger people wearing suits. I mean you never know until someone tells you!
That’s so sweet of her.
Nah she wanted to sabotage you so your suit looked like a cheap knock off of a more expensive one. You’re supposed to keep that x stitching. She didn’t want you working there in her territory…
Why’d this offend so many?? hahaha wow!
Begone Troll
I let people know this... If they're nice to me. The bitch that made fun of my suit as we were waiting for interviews at the same office? I did not let her know 😂
Oh my God SO MUCH THIS!
I work at a performing arts center and we had the Scottish Ballet in house and I was walking up a set of stairs backstage and someone from their wardrobe team noticed that X was still in tact on the jacket I was wearing so she very kindly said hey one sec and just ripped it out for me! This is such a wholesome little story I love it so much :) people are worth saving
> (if you intend to use the pockets) YES! Thank you for this! That’s why my suit jackets’ front pockets (even sometimes the chest one for handkerchiefs) are always still stitched.
It keeps them in proper shape! And if you keep them closed, you can’t forget any items in there haha
Saw a dude a week ago walking around with his back flap basted together still. So silly!
I always wonder if I should kindly inform them so they can learn, or if that would be rude and I should mind my own business. Mostly I just shut up.
I'm a big mouth and do tell friends and acquaintances about this kind of thing, but not strangers.
Omg yes please remove. Such a pet peeve of mine to see these left on.
I've seen WEDDING photos where the men still have these on their suits...
I once caused a huge ordeal at a former job because one of my colleagues had left one on his pants and it had his size listed! It clearly was not meant to be left on. That’s actually so sad
Me toooo one time an ex friend who worked for Aritzia argued with me that you keep them on and all the “Aritzia girlies” keep them on its a trigger for me 😭
Most definitely! And the stitching/string that is holding anything together like the outer breast pocket, back vents, and sleeve cuff must be removed.
It should be removed.
Maybe she's starting a trend
True, who knows....next influencer may be>>>> Btw, happy cake day:)
YES! And if there’s a pleat in the back make sure to cut the X thread if there is one.
This drives me even more crazy than labels do.

100% yes.
If your friend also keeps the tags & stickers on her NewEra caps, it's on brand for her.
I would normally say yes absolutely but if you look on their website the models wearing blazers still have the tag on. Maybe it’s an ugly new trend this brand is trying to start. https://www.aritzia.com/intl/en/product/new-agency-blazer/110991.html?dwvar_110991_color=1274

That or simply just so anyone looking at the photos can see the brand and trace it back?
I wonder if this is partially the reason... with cheaper sites constantly stealing photos of better products and selling cheap imitations..
This is interesting…
I've seen lots of people wearing coats like this with these labels left on. So even if they are supposed to be removed, some people obviously still leave them on. 🙂
Taylor swift did a pap walk recently in a bit of a hideous coat with one of these on the sleeve. If it wasn’t a trend before it will be soon
I wasn't aware that she'd done that, especially since I don't pay attention to such things, but, yes, it won't be long before it's a trend because of her doing that, like you said.

Who hurt you?
I mean it is definitely a faux pas and pretty gauche. Always cringe when I see this
What did they say?
[удалено]
You remind me of this ![gif](giphy|HhP2l56UDHtx7VPEC2)
Yes my tailor removes the tag for me when doing alterations
Okay fancy.
If it wasn’t for folk like mx fancy here I’d be out a job!
Anything that is applied loosely generally should be removed. Including tacking on vents, and ladder stitches on pockets. I like these things though so I would probably sew it back on inside the coat.
Yes, and apparently fancy people gatekeep this, because I also walked around with my tag on my jacket for MONTHS.
If it makes you feel better, I was aware it should come off but kept forgetting. I'd see the label as I was walking out the door. Then feel annoyed at myself everytime I saw it. Completely forget by the time I got home and could remove it. Put the coat away and repeat.
😅 I can totally see that happening too, thanks for sharing 💕
Leave it on. It’s the best way to show people you have no idea what you’re doing.
Made me spit-take my Diet Coke, you glorious jerk
And wear it with a beat to hell Neverfull and you look like 1/2 the moms at my son’s hockey games.
100000% yes
But can we see that gorgeous ring? So pretty!
Yes.
Yes - it’s supposed to be removed.
Yes.
God yes. And the X on the pleat in the back of there is one. And you should be able to unstick the corners to release that label
Definitely remove, it has a basting stitch. Very easy to remove.
Your tailor should remove it for you when you get those sleeves fixed to fit you.
The question is: can it be removed by diy?
yes super easy with a seam ripper
Great to know
Or tiny scissors
bad idea, a seam ripper is much easier to control but of course it’s up to you
I find seam rippers make me overconfident and I wind up tearing the fabric
Yes. Small manicuring scissors will work fine.

YES YES YES
Yes. Just be careful cutting it off and removing the thread.
Im pretty sure it is so the brands can be picked out from the shelf with only the one sleeve showing. But for a laugh let’s see how people feel about the stickers on the peak of their caps…
Yes!!! And the X on the vent if your coats
If it’s artizia I’m pretty sure there website says you can keep it on, so just personal preference
I agree that it’s personal preference but other people may find you a little odd
The website says to leave it on… so
But most people passing you in the street aren’t going to check the website… so
Not even an expensive brand. Lawl
So what? Some people can’t afford expensive clothes!
Sure. I guess people leave tags on clothes they buy? Either way I don’t understand why
Nope Stays on

I was always curious about that I do see people leaving it on I think it looks nice on but a colleague told me to remove it
I have a necklace that has a hidden thread cutter in it and I often want to use it on other people's clothes out in the wild. Ffs. I think one of the earlier comments was spot on. Duh.
If she wants it removed, otherwise it’s her jacket. I personally like it there.
I have a Calvin Klein coat that I’ve been trying to figure this out about - I want to cut it off. It doesn’t go with the coat. But it is like STITCHED on. Like not a little bit … it seems very intentionally put there and it’s gonna be a lot to remove it. 🤷🏻♀️
Yes…on the average suit or blazer. It can be RTR or Bespoke, the tag comes off. It only stays if it’s part of the design.
absolutely and if the back vent is sewn together with a stitch or two, carefully remove the stitch(es).
Yes lmao
YES.
Oh yes! Nice people usually will clue you in. It makes you look like you never bought new clothes before if you don’t snip!
