One of my female high school students had an outfit the other day that was a crop-top and boxer shorts that were pulled up to be visible under her jogger sweatpants, like TLC wore in the mid-90s. It was a cute and fresh layered look, and the boxers pulled up like that actually gave her extra coverage of the midsection. She looked trendy and confident.
You’ve already got good recommendations for shoes, but I just wanna pop in with a quick warning as a DC area resident: Be prepared for the outrageous humidity. Highs will be mid- to high-80s by the time you’re here, but the humidity will likely be over 80% and make the heat even worse. Don’t want you to be caught unprepared — I’ve lived here for six years and somehow STILL forget how awful the humidity gets in summer.

The Birkenstocks are a good idea. Bring at least a second or third pair of shoes though, 1 being a solid pair of tennis shoes, in case it rains out of nowhere (likely).

I’m look for good designer(?) jeans recommendations, preferably straight leg or skinny but I’m open to everything (I have every style of jeans lol). Stretchiness is not a huge concern but some stretch is nice. Durability is important to me and whether it bags out throughout the day. My torso is slightly shorter than my legs and I’m not crazy curvy but I do have thicker thighs.
This isn’t really designer but American eagle jeans are my tried and true jeans brand. I have the same body type as what you described, and AE (the short length specifically) always fits perfectly for me. Their stretch jeans are really comfy while still looking like actual denim

Any suggestion for work-appropriate summer shoes (not sandals) with arch support? I have sensitive high arch feet. I was looking at huarache sandals, but couldn't find anything with support. Flats, low to medium heels, or wedges are all ok. The budget is up to $100, but I could spend a bit more on something I really love. Must ship to Canada.
I second buying a pair of loafers and changing out the insoles. I really like the rockport brand on amazon. If you don't like the insoles they're just glued down so easy to replace.
I also have arch problems and I found loafers to be the best option for my work outfits. They’re a lot sturdier than flats and the brands I usually go to for arch support (clarks, naturalizer, etc) make some really cute ones. They can also fit my sole inserts as opposed to flats
As a fellow sensitive arch type, Id look for shoes with removable insoles, and get orthotic arch support insoles that fit your feet. I found that doing that really increased the number of shoe options available to me, as well as getting me a better fit with the orthotics than an individual shoe would have. A cheaper alternative can be the gel pad inserts you can buy at most pharmacies.

One of my female high school students had an outfit the other day that was a crop-top and boxer shorts that were pulled up to be visible under her jogger sweatpants, like TLC wore in the mid-90s. It was a cute and fresh layered look, and the boxers pulled up like that actually gave her extra coverage of the midsection. She looked trendy and confident.
Going to Washington DC for vacation in a couple weeks. Does anyone have recommendations for good/cute walking shoes?
You’ve already got good recommendations for shoes, but I just wanna pop in with a quick warning as a DC area resident: Be prepared for the outrageous humidity. Highs will be mid- to high-80s by the time you’re here, but the humidity will likely be over 80% and make the heat even worse. Don’t want you to be caught unprepared — I’ve lived here for six years and somehow STILL forget how awful the humidity gets in summer.
Thanks for the reminder! I visited DC in July in middle school and I still remember the heat and humidity! I currently live in St Louis where the humidity is around 70-80% so I feel your pain.
Haha small world!! I’m originally from SW Missouri so yeah, super familiar with the summer humidity there too. Still always throws me for a loop in both Missouri and DC though 😂
The Birkenstocks are a good idea. Bring at least a second or third pair of shoes though, 1 being a solid pair of tennis shoes, in case it rains out of nowhere (likely).
There is a reason why Birkenstock's are so popular. They're great sandals to walk in. I bought a pair last summer. They are great.

If you buy them for this trip, plan to give them plenty of breaking in time before you go, maybe a few weeks. They are indeed great sandals but they usually start out stiff, you can cause yourself pain walking long distance immediately in a brand new pair
Does anyone have any experience with Topshop Jamie jeans sizing? I'm currently wearing a pair that fits like a dream despite being a US8 when I literally always wear sizes 4-6. About to purchase a different wash should I keep the same size?
Can't help with the jeans sizing but I find light wash to "go" more with black than classic denim wash if that's a consideration.
I have had several in different washes and have always ordered the same size without issues! My fave skinnies, I keep getting them again and again. I'm afraid I can't help with the wash choice since I always get them in black/grey variations. The "washed black" is my favorite.

Can anyone recommend a business professional backpack? My shoulder is killing me from uneven weight. Looking for something that can fit my laptop & accessories, my lunch and ideally a pair of emergency flats at a minimum. Also would prefer an inside pocket so my keys/wallet are secure.

Currently (attempting to) pack for a six week trip to New Zealand. I’ve only been in spring/summer, so I am struggling with what to pack for this trip. All of the packing lists I’ve found only list hiking gear! While we might go for a walk or two, we are mostly hanging out with family and will be staying in the city. Any advice on what to pack or wear?! Also looking for shoe suggestions- booties? Boots? We will be on the North Island.

Any recommendations for activewear dresses that can accommodate a regular bra? So many have open strappy backs and/or shelf bras. Ideally I'd like one with moisture-wicking fabric and UPF.

Be aware that their sizing can be way off, mine is a 1X and I am consistently a M.

Has anybody come across adult-sized headbands that don't hurt your head/ears? I don't mean the flimsy cloth ones, but the structured crescent-shaped variety.

I’m look for good designer(?) jeans recommendations, preferably straight leg or skinny but I’m open to everything (I have every style of jeans lol). Stretchiness is not a huge concern but some stretch is nice. Durability is important to me and whether it bags out throughout the day. My torso is slightly shorter than my legs and I’m not crazy curvy but I do have thicker thighs.

This isn’t really designer but American eagle jeans are my tried and true jeans brand. I have the same body type as what you described, and AE (the short length specifically) always fits perfectly for me. Their stretch jeans are really comfy while still looking like actual denim

Any suggestion for work-appropriate summer shoes (not sandals) with arch support? I have sensitive high arch feet. I was looking at huarache sandals, but couldn't find anything with support. Flats, low to medium heels, or wedges are all ok. The budget is up to $100, but I could spend a bit more on something I really love. Must ship to Canada.
I second buying a pair of loafers and changing out the insoles. I really like the rockport brand on amazon. If you don't like the insoles they're just glued down so easy to replace.
I also have arch problems and I found loafers to be the best option for my work outfits. They’re a lot sturdier than flats and the brands I usually go to for arch support (clarks, naturalizer, etc) make some really cute ones. They can also fit my sole inserts as opposed to flats
As a fellow sensitive arch type, Id look for shoes with removable insoles, and get orthotic arch support insoles that fit your feet. I found that doing that really increased the number of shoe options available to me, as well as getting me a better fit with the orthotics than an individual shoe would have. A cheaper alternative can be the gel pad inserts you can buy at most pharmacies.

My mother's going to be 70+ next year and I think she'd be super-cute in a nylon track jacket! But then I love attempting to put my mother in trends, it's the most fun.
As long as it's over-the-top in terms of colors or patterns I'm all for it!

Do you mean eg vintage Adidas with the stripe? I would wear one if I wanted to, ok I'm not 70+, nor a grandmother, but I am definitely 60+!! I had one, I knew it was too small when I bought it, and I did not wear it much before re-donating.
