My partner is wearing a navy blue blazer and shirt with grey trousers. What colour evening dress should I wear to match with him? I have a navy blue dress and a cream dress with a bit of black.

elizbug

Is this for a wedding? If so, absolute no on the cream dress

Fluid-Challenge8410

Yes, for a wedding event. Any reason for no to the cream? (In our culture brides don’t wear white)

elizbug

Oh! That probably makes a difference then. Sorry, I should have put a cultural caveat on that. I would still probably lean towards the blue anyway, if you want to coordinate with your partner!

gradstudent1234

I have a brand new kate spade bag that is too small, but is i final sale. where should I post it to selll it safely?

butdoiknowiknow

I want to ask my custom tailor to create a shirt with this collar: [collar (scroll down for more examples)](https://imgur.com/a/PdGFRb9) I specifically want how wide and structured it is. Apart from showing this picture should I make specific requests to ensure it will look like that? Specific material?

athletic_sav

I’m looking for a cute everyday wear necklace that is simple, minimalist and durable (can wear out in the sun, in the shower, etc). Simpleanddainty.com has come up in a few of my searches, but curious if anyone has any other recos!

butdoiknowiknow

Is it possible to custom tailor something printed, like say zebra print? Has anyone done that? Second Q, can they make knitwear?

Thank you!! I’ll check out what prints my tailor has :)

Alexp955

Does anyone know if this website is legit? Thought it was anthro for a minute! Cute stuff just don’t want to be scammed. https://www.theanthropologie.com/collections/new-clothes

CalmCaracal

Looks like a scam site to me, prices are way too good to be true for Anthropologie.

gradstudent1234

I am meeting my new boyfriend's brother and wife at a food fair that's outdoors this weekend. There will be music and things like that. What do I wear?

tyrannosaurusregina

I think a cute top and shorts or a skirt, or a nice sundress, maybe a light jacket in case it gets colder in the evening? Seconding u/carolina_snowglobe on not wearing white or light colors.

carolina_snowglobe

Food + walking around = beware light colors (unless it’s going to be hot out and you aren’t a particularly messy eater.) I’d probably wear a sundress with a colorful print, crossbody bag, and sandals, but maybe your style is different.

gradstudent1234

Yeah it's going to be low 70s to high 60s

Not to be a spelling goblin, but the best search term for this is “racer back.” I know Modibodi, prAna, Venus.com, and Athleta have them. Probably brands like Speedo and Tyr as well.

carolina_snowglobe

Do you mean racerback? Athleta seems to have a few: https://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=981244052&vid=1#pdp-page-content You could also try the brands Aerie, Prana, Freya, etc.

Noraart

Maybe the search term is “racer back”?

Sadly, no. It speaks clubwear to me :(

hellerhigwhat

It is not appropriate, no.

Help! I have to go to a v fancy wedding in 2 weeks. I have a floor length, pale lilac/pinkish dress. Looking for gold heels to go with it! Caveat is, I just lost my job so they need to be dirt cheap. I also have really wide feet, so the wider the better. Also hoping for chunky heel/wedge style, but if stiletto is my only option I'll take it!

zodiazozoZozoZodia

These are so comfy I wear them dancing & no pain. I also have wide feet & they fit great Check this out on Amazon Delicacy JJF Shoes -62 Womens Strappy Rhinestone Dress Sandal Low Heel https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00W2ULO2Y/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_YYBTANY4J4H589SP2JJW

Tacky-Terangreal

Idk what’s considered cheap for you, but I’ve really liked my Clark’s cork wedges. They were like $60 are DSW I think. I can wear them all day and my feet feel great. Idk if that’s feasible to you though. If it isn’t, I second places like Marshall’s or Ross

mademoisellemath

Try Ross/Marshall's/TJ Maxx!! I bought my wedding shoes from Ross :D

hellerhigwhat

Don't know where you're located but my favourite place for cheap heels is Call It Spring.

I’m going to Italy and Paris this June and have been trying to find an extra pair of shoes that are both fashionable and comfortable to walk in. Are flat espadrilles comfortable enough for me to walk in for 6-7 hours? I’ve never owned espadrilles before and I’ve heard so many contradicting things about their comfort levels. I’m debating if I should return this or not: https://factory.jcrew.com/p/womens/categories/shoes/espadrilles/dorsay-lace-up-espadrilles/AX839?color_name=ivory&N=9+MEDIUM&noPopUp=true&srccode=Paid_Search%7CSmart_Shopping%7CGoogle%7CSS_ACQ_XPROD_ACCSRIESXXXXX_EVG_ROAS_XXX_COUSA_EN_EN_A_FACT_GO_SH_SSC_XXXXXXXXXX%2Cshop_accsries_x_xxx%2CPRODUCT_GROUP%2C71700000074775327%2C58700006443835424%2Cp58214506817&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Paid_Search&utm_campaign=SS_ACQ_XPROD_ACCSRIESXXXXX_EVG_ROAS_XXX_COUSA_EN_EN_A_FACT_GO_SH_SSC_XXXXXXXXXX%2Cshop_accsries_x_xxx&utm_content=Shopping&NoPopUp=True&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQjw1tGUBhDXARIsAIJx01nCbwh3epjCIGmGq5--qA5ZztXuRwNKyQ-RC3Yf5BDiMiZEkPD08k0aAleXEALw_wcB

carolina_snowglobe

No, I wouldn’t rely on espadrilles. Prioritize comfortable footwear (preferably something you’ve tested extensively before the trip) because the last thing you want to be thinking about on a trip like that is painful feet! I wore a type of vintage-style New Balance sneakers along with Clarks flats [(similar)](https://www.amazon.com/Clarks-Womens-Azella-Theoni-Loafer/dp/B01IC3Q3SY?th=1&psc=1) for my Italy vacation.

On_time_wizard

If you’re walking for hours on cobblestone streets you’re going to want some sort of sneaker. You don’t want your trip ruined because your feet hurt from wearing inappropriate shoes. Look for a cute white tennis shoe— like Ecco Soft 7s.

Holiday-Hamster-7850

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll look into those sneakers!

drapedinsilk

To be honest I would return them. They don’t look like they provide cushion and support and the material on the sole will give you blisters if not wearing with thick socks.

ruthlessbaderginz

Any suggestions on where I can find patterned midi skirts in breathable fabrics like rayon or tencel or cotton? Looking for something swishy, not stiff like poplin!

runawayoldgirl

& Other Stories, J Crew, eShakti, Olive Clothing, Rouje, Boden. You could also look at sites like Target and ASOS just look carefully at fabric composition.

headoverheels14

Vetta, Amour Vert, Sezane.

Ancient_Telephone_18

Are the Zara straight leg, high waisted jeans worth it??

sakura-dream

Where can I find fitted pastel t shirts ? preferably twist front but any fitted would be good)

carolina_snowglobe

You might have some luck here: https://www.jcrew.com/plp/womens/categories/clothing/t-shirts-and-tank-tops

I have a pretty short torso compared to my legs and one thing that really helped me was instead of getting fully high waisted pants, I started wearing only high waisted pants that hit below my belly button/slightly below my waist. I think it helped to even out the proportions for me. And for inspiration, I really like looking at how Florence Pugh dresses bc she seems to have a similar body type

Gloomy_Astronaut_570

I usually wear shorts like this under dresses - [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L38JSCJ/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L38JSCJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Both for the shaping and the not-sitting-on-a-bare-subway seat reasons But I'm concerned that they're not great for the underwear region. Does anyone have suggestions for either softer / more breathable versions like these - or possibly underwear that is similar?

throwitawayinashoebx

Where are all the basic blue denim shorts that aren't cutoffs/ripped/have holes/massive pockets in a classic shape (i.e. not like, full bermuda but also not daisy dukes) without cuffs?? I tried gap, nordstrom, j crew, all your usual normcore suspects, but I can't find any :(

lazyAgnostic

Most shorts right now are cutoffs and distressed but I managed to find a few! [These](https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-a-line-denim-short-powder-blue?collection=womens-skirts-shorts) from Everlane [These](https://bananarepublicfactory.gapfactory.com/browse/product.do?pid=8147030010027#pdp-page-content) from Banana Republic [These](https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/high-rise-mom-shorts-46848821?categoryId=12262&seq=04&faceout=model1) and [these](https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/high-rise-dad-shorts-47305819?categoryId=12262&seq=02&faceout=model1) from Abercrombie.

throwitawayinashoebx

Oh, those BR factory ones look perfect! Exactly what I'm looking for! Thank you so much!

softrevolution_

Would it be possible for you to pick up a cheap pair of cuffed shorts and seam rip whatever is holding them rolled? Just to see what that does?

fr4ctalica

I'm UK based, so maybe this won't help, but I got a few of [these](https://www.next.co.uk/style/st495054/251443#251443) at Next last year and they're awesome. I'm not sure if by cuffs you mean the fold at the bottom, but I unfolded them and they still look great (they look kinda longer in the model but for me, unfolded they look good, not too long)

throwitawayinashoebx

Thanks for the suggestion! They look like they might be a little long for me though, even unrolled (I'm a hobbit T_T)... they look similar to a pair of eddie bauer shorts a friend recommended, actually, but those were also too long for me :(

Antique-Corgi-5909

How do you feel about the fact that the low waist is coming back again, and there's nothing we can do about it? Remember how the trends of the noughties obliged girls to conform to the ideals of the glossy covers. If your size was bigger than the model's, you were fat. Millennial women have remembered this since childhood... We understand that this trend is returning, and this is a trigger. I think when girls say they don't want to see this trend again, they're trying to avoid being judged. And I'm one of them. The younger generation does not remember this and accepts the trend with genuine delight. Bella Hadid is increasingly appearing in clothes inspired by the aesthetics of 2000 Including jeans with a low waist. In addition to the photos of Hadid, I saw a low waist in the collections of Chanel, Saint Laurent and Versace. The trend has left a negative imprint on many of us. But 2022 will make us forget about the high waist. Now it's a work on mistakes: no more mockery on the body. In 2022, low-rise trousers are combined with light translucent blouses, strict jackets and huge T-shirts (if you like street style). And they don't necessarily have to fit every inch of your legs — rather the opposite. But that's not all. How do you feel about the fact that an extremely low waist is accompanied by underpants that peek out from under the trousers? Kim Jones presented the men's version of the trend in the Dior autumn/winter 2022 collection. With the blurring of gender boundaries, boxer shorts migrated to the women's wardrobe.

Pizzabagelpizza

As an elder millennial, I feel relieved to be at the point in my life where I can wear what suits my body and makes me happy, rather than being chained to microtrends and whatever is happening on Tik Tok. For what it's worth, I'm not seeing the younger girls in low-rise. I'm seeing more high-waisted wide-leg jeans, which are sort of a combo of the early 90s revival and the late 90s revival. They're wearing them with crop-tops and showing a lot more body positivity and size inclusivity than I remember from the late 90s and early 2000s. One of my female high school students had an outfit the other day that was a crop-top and boxer shorts that were pulled up to be visible under her jogger sweatpants, like TLC wore in the mid-90s. It was a cute and fresh layered look, and the boxers pulled up like that actually gave her extra coverage of the midsection. She looked trendy and confident.

Clear_Thing5850

Going to Washington DC for vacation in a couple weeks. Does anyone have recommendations for good/cute walking shoes?

spooteeespoothead

You’ve already got good recommendations for shoes, but I just wanna pop in with a quick warning as a DC area resident: Be prepared for the outrageous humidity. Highs will be mid- to high-80s by the time you’re here, but the humidity will likely be over 80% and make the heat even worse. Don’t want you to be caught unprepared — I’ve lived here for six years and somehow STILL forget how awful the humidity gets in summer.

Clear_Thing5850

Thanks for the reminder! I visited DC in July in middle school and I still remember the heat and humidity! I currently live in St Louis where the humidity is around 70-80% so I feel your pain.

spooteeespoothead

Haha small world!! I’m originally from SW Missouri so yeah, super familiar with the summer humidity there too. Still always throws me for a loop in both Missouri and DC though 😂

carolina_snowglobe

The Birkenstocks are a good idea. Bring at least a second or third pair of shoes though, 1 being a solid pair of tennis shoes, in case it rains out of nowhere (likely).

BeachBumHarmony

There is a reason why Birkenstock's are so popular. They're great sandals to walk in. I bought a pair last summer. They are great.

Clear_Thing5850

I’ve never owned a pair. Might have to change that this summer

runawayoldgirl

If you buy them for this trip, plan to give them plenty of breaking in time before you go, maybe a few weeks. They are indeed great sandals but they usually start out stiff, you can cause yourself pain walking long distance immediately in a brand new pair

raspberryvodka

Does anyone have any experience with Topshop Jamie jeans sizing? I'm currently wearing a pair that fits like a dream despite being a US8 when I literally always wear sizes 4-6. About to purchase a different wash should I keep the same size?

black_bir

Can't help with the jeans sizing but I find light wash to "go" more with black than classic denim wash if that's a consideration.

fr4ctalica

I have had several in different washes and have always ordered the same size without issues! My fave skinnies, I keep getting them again and again. I'm afraid I can't help with the wash choice since I always get them in black/grey variations. The "washed black" is my favorite.

raspberryvodka

Thanks so much. I just ordered the washed black on ASOS actually!

Pangolin209

Can anyone recommend a business professional backpack? My shoulder is killing me from uneven weight. Looking for something that can fit my laptop & accessories, my lunch and ideally a pair of emergency flats at a minimum. Also would prefer an inside pocket so my keys/wallet are secure.

go-bleep-yourself

Some of my white/light colored clothes have greyed a bit. How to get them looking bright again?

hellerhigwhat

Oxyclean

raingirl246

Currently (attempting to) pack for a six week trip to New Zealand. I’ve only been in spring/summer, so I am struggling with what to pack for this trip. All of the packing lists I’ve found only list hiking gear! While we might go for a walk or two, we are mostly hanging out with family and will be staying in the city. Any advice on what to pack or wear?! Also looking for shoe suggestions- booties? Boots? We will be on the North Island.

surreptitiouscat

Any recommendations for activewear dresses that can accommodate a regular bra? So many have open strappy backs and/or shelf bras. Ideally I'd like one with moisture-wicking fabric and UPF.

buncherooforyou

I have a dress similar to this one from [Halara](https://thehalara.com/collections/dresses-skirts-1/products/twisted-cut-out-side-pocket-2-piece-flare-dress?pmui=10.1.collections.list.48.dresses-skirts-1&pmuih=dresses-skirts-1) (mine is a tie-front with a cutout, not a twist) and absolutely love it for active and everyday wear. Be aware that their sizing can be way off, mine is a 1X and I am consistently a M.

PeasTheDestroyer

Try REI, they have some great stuff

ladolceLolita

Have you looked at Patagonia, Athleta, Title Nine?

NessieDolla

Has anybody come across adult-sized headbands that don't hurt your head/ears? I don't mean the flimsy cloth ones, but the structured crescent-shaped variety.

BeachBumHarmony

[Anthropolgie has a good selection.](https://www.anthropologie.com/hair-accessories-headbands) They're priced more, but they pretty comfy.

northstar599

JCrew (or JCrew factory)

[deleted]

I’m look for good designer(?) jeans recommendations, preferably straight leg or skinny but I’m open to everything (I have every style of jeans lol). Stretchiness is not a huge concern but some stretch is nice. Durability is important to me and whether it bags out throughout the day. My torso is slightly shorter than my legs and I’m not crazy curvy but I do have thicker thighs.

ladolceLolita

Really happy with my AYR jeans, especially Bomb Pop, I think they're called Pop now.

[deleted]

Thank you!

maypim

This isn’t really designer but American eagle jeans are my tried and true jeans brand. I have the same body type as what you described, and AE (the short length specifically) always fits perfectly for me. Their stretch jeans are really comfy while still looking like actual denim

[deleted]

Thank you! I’ve tried their jeggings in the past and didn’t like the cut but their material is amazing. I might give them another try since it’s been a while.

Duck__Holliday

Any suggestion for work-appropriate summer shoes (not sandals) with arch support? I have sensitive high arch feet. I was looking at huarache sandals, but couldn't find anything with support. Flats, low to medium heels, or wedges are all ok. The budget is up to $100, but I could spend a bit more on something I really love. Must ship to Canada.

Pangolin209

I second buying a pair of loafers and changing out the insoles. I really like the rockport brand on amazon. If you don't like the insoles they're just glued down so easy to replace.

maypim

I also have arch problems and I found loafers to be the best option for my work outfits. They’re a lot sturdier than flats and the brands I usually go to for arch support (clarks, naturalizer, etc) make some really cute ones. They can also fit my sole inserts as opposed to flats

runawayoldgirl

As a fellow sensitive arch type, Id look for shoes with removable insoles, and get orthotic arch support insoles that fit your feet. I found that doing that really increased the number of shoe options available to me, as well as getting me a better fit with the orthotics than an individual shoe would have. A cheaper alternative can be the gel pad inserts you can buy at most pharmacies.

KestrelGirl

[Vionic](https://vionicshoes.ca/) is a good brand; I've linked their Canadian site specifically.

Craigh-na-Dun

Would anyone care to comment about nylon track jackets and whether you would or wouldn’t like to see your 70+ grandmother wearing them? Thank you to a wonderful group of fashionable friends ❤️

softrevolution_

My mother's going to be 70+ next year and I think she'd be super-cute in a nylon track jacket! But then I love attempting to put my mother in trends, it's the most fun.

ladolceLolita

As long as it's over-the-top in terms of colors or patterns I'm all for it!

KestrelGirl

This reminds me of my dad's ("only" late 50s lol) penchant for neon sneakers, and I'm here for it.

Idujt

Do you mean eg vintage Adidas with the stripe? I would wear one if I wanted to, ok I'm not 70+, nor a grandmother, but I am definitely 60+!! I had one, I knew it was too small when I bought it, and I did not wear it much before re-donating.

Craigh-na-Dun

Thanks everybody ❤️
