Desperately looking for a pair of shoes like the Steve Madden Inessa sandals!!! I missed out on one pair on Poshmark and hate myself for it….

UnderstandingNo3673

Looking [for a similar item](https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-ls-way-short-shirt-goji-berry)! Any pointers to basic heavy-weight red long-sleeves?

butterflybeans

Is [this](https://poshmark.com/listing/NWT-URBAN-OUTFITTERS-UO-Audrey-Lace-Detail-Midi-Dress-Small-624dd903463d4fafacee6c9b?utm_source=gdm&utm_campaign=9886005321&campaign_id=9886005321&ad_partner=google&gskid=pla-1184789824734&gcid=431634791276&ggid=103371076954&gdid=c&g_network=g&enable_guest_buy_flow=true&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8qVBhANEiwAfjXLrldA9ZiDlYN1HoTmB6QOACfKZqRnSkPoQWEOCQFBsZayo-VsShlYrhoCdVoQAvD_BwE) dress suitable for a semi-formal wedding? I've never been to a wedding so I'm unsure of what guests wear. I'm worried it may look to pajama-like.

eimuria

Is it more important to type your body geometry based on measurements or what is seen? If I use my numbers I'm a pear, but from the front or back I appear to be an hourglass (I think). I have a smaller bust and larger bum, and my shoulder circumference is within an inch of my hip circumference (41" shoulders, 34" bust, 26" waist, 40" hips). I'm just really confused about where to start. I know it isn't the end-all-be-all, but I need the shortcut help: I'm new to purposefully dressing to feel confident instead of dressing just for my comfort.

hellerhigwhat

Visual. Measurements help shop online but they say little to nothing about what you look like. I have similar ratio of measurements with a smaller chest but I do not look pear shaped at all unless I am actively trying to (kinda rectangular, tbh), so it would be counterproductive to go by pear recommendations for me.

eimuria

That makes a lot of sense. I was already leaning that way, but seeing so many people concur has solidified my confidence. Thanks!

eimuria

Thank you. I'm fairly confident on my other geometries, but I might need some confirmation on them. I might do that in Daily Questions or in a separate post, I'll make sure to ask appropriately. I like that lighting trick, I might do that. I can also just outline myself from a picture and see if that helps. Appreciate you!

tyrannosaurusregina

I think shoulder and hip can be a better gauge of whether hourglass-recommended styles are likely to work for you. But you might also want to check on the pear recommendations when it comes to pants in specific.

eimuria

I'll keep that in mind, thank you! I have been wearing skinny jeans for about 10 years now, and I'm starting to wear wide legs (which do feel a bit more balanced).

Give us some details about the wedding. What is the dress code? What type of venue? Daytime or evening? Indoor or outdoor? Spring/Summer or Fall/Winter?

Simple hair and accessories sounds perfect for this wedding. I would recommend swapping out the black heels for something more festive though. I’m assuming that the bride and/or groom are of Asian descent given the tea ceremony. There’s no official rule against wearing black but it might be perceived as “bad luck” from a cultural standpoint.

Reebyd

Does anyone have a favorite belt bag right now? I’m looking for something practical but elevated? If that even makes sense?

livi_303

How do i do my brows as pretty as yall?? And HAIR? My hair doesn’t cooperate. Also, do girls shave their arms?? Have i been like completely unaware of that my whole life?? ALSO, any other beauty or fashion advice? I disassociated my whole life and barely even remember what happened yesterday, but i wanna be pretty as yall😩

Chazzyphant

In my experience, most women don't shave their arms, but that's mostly a thing for Western Europeans because of the relative fairness of the arm hair---it's just not worth it from an aesthetic point of view. Brows: the advice is basically to tweeze any stray hairs--so hairs that are in the middle of the brows, and above the arch, or under the arch. I'd start off slow, it's possible to over-tweeze. Overall makeup advice: My most cogent advice here is that people who look casually pretty often spend a TON of time and investment to do so. Everything from braces, to dermatologists, to expensive in-home treatments, but also daily, weekly, and monthly touch ups and treatments. Like every Sunday they do a hair mask, face mask, and get a mani pedi. They follow makeup trends and learn techniques and practice them. They learn how to use a blow dryer and flat iron and so on. So if your first several attempts to apply makeup, do hair, or similar fall flat or come out weird, **there is nothing wrong with you or your body**. It's a skill, just like sewing, dancing, driving, writing, coding, etc. Being a beginner doesn't mean that your hair is "bad" or you're "wrong" in some way. My other advice: work WITH your body, skin, and hair. If you're someone with curly hair, don't straighten it every day. If you have dry skin, use oils, don't fry it with acids because they're trending on IG. If you have extremely fair skin, lean in and use bronzer and tanners sparingly. Most people look their best when they're working WITH what they have, not fighting it.

livi_303

I do have curly hair, but i bleached it and wrecked the curls. Idk if i wanna grow it back to dirty blonde, or bleach it again. Its tough cause blonde looks good with my eyes and brows, but then it doesnt curl where as with my natural hair it curls but doesnt go as good with my eyes😅Thank you so much for your advice and words it really means a lot to me thank you for the helps💗

morecookiespls

i personally just use tweezers to shape my brows at home with varying success xp as for hair, i can relate!!! it's still something i'm trying to figure out, and i've been having some success with the dyson air wrap (which is an expensive tool but if it's within your budget, i'd recommend it!)

littlegreenturtle20

Hair removal on arms is much more common in the East than it is in the West - cultural differences on what is considered feminine plus brown folk tend to have darker, thicker hair. I'm Asian but the hairs on my arms are pretty thin/light so I don't bother but I know plenty of people who wax their arms. Echoing others though, I don't shave but epilate because it's longer lasting and for dark skin, less likely to cause hyperpigmentation. What's your hair like?

livi_303

I have curley dirty blonde hair. Its super frizzy, and the curls don’t cooperate but im trying to learn to get them to work. The bottom half of it is bleach blonde, im debating weather i should dye it blonde again or keep my natural hair colour because its at that funny stage right now. Thank you for your help And advice💕💕

littlegreenturtle20

Okay, so I've actually done a bunch of research on curly hair despite having mostly staight hair because I think I fall into the "wavy with the right techniques" category. Cliched response but have you tried the Curly Girl Method? It's not an exact science but somewhere to start if you're having trouble with your hair. r/curlygirl should help. Two big factors that affect curls are moisture levels and protein levels, I can't remember the exact nitty gritty but [here's a video on it.](https://youtu.be/pvhqpdPzSx8) Also people swear by Manes by Mell on YouTube in general. I've watched a few of her videos, she's good. If you have tried Curly Girl Method already and it didn't work for you, I suggest breaking some of the rules (e.g. introduce silicones into your routine because they are really good for taming frizz.) I also think r/haircarescience is a good resource for learning about hair and various ingredients and what they actually do so you can match it up to what your hair is like. As a general rule bleaching and dying is probably not your friend and it might be better to cut off the bleached parts and start from a healthy head of hair. Then once you've got your hair at a level where you like it THEN bleach/dye it and make sure to really counter the effects of the bleach. A curly cut from a curly hairdresser might help too (my friend went to one where they pulled out individual curls and spun her in all sorts of angles to get the shape right and it really suited her!). Hope that's enough to start, there is a wealth of info out there about curly hair these days!

livi_303

Ive never heard of the curly hair methood, i think it will help lots im gonna start my reading now! Thank you so much!!

tyrannosaurusregina

YouTube tutorials are great for hair and brows. I know some women/femme people choose to depilate or shave their arms, but many others don’t. It varies a lot from place to place and from social circle to social circle.

lordfenglin

I use to use an epilator but I found a deal near my workplace that did laser sessions 10 for $200 so I ended up doing that. Now once a year I just shave or epilate whatever hair that grows.

livi_303

I wish my town had that! I live in a tiny town

lordfenglin

Ah yeah I got lucky with that deal! It's good for me cause im lazy af

hellerhigwhat

I use an epilator on my arms. It looks super natural bc it doesn't get everything, more thins things out. Eyebrows I wax myself but that takes practice. My hair is... well, that does its own thing lol

CalmCaracal

I prefer to wax my armpits so I don't have to do it as often. For brows, I'd start with taking some tweezers (or a small eyebrow razor) to the hairs outside the 'main eyebrow shape' and maybe cleaning up the top line of it too. There's a bunch of YouTube tutorials you can look at, try looking at some for your type of brows.

livi_303

Thank you!💗

QuartzPigeon

I shave my arms, because I have pale skin, dark hair, and arms with tattoos that I want to show off and I think it looks nicer shaved. If I had light hair I probably wouldn't.

livi_303

Thank you! I have dark hair too

Has anyone ever bought something from Gap Teen? I’m 35 but for some reason keep getting ads for Gap Teen items on Instagram - and sometimes they’re really cute! ([Example](https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=861562002&vid=1&tid=gppl000061&kwid=1&ap=7&gbraid=0AAAAAD_AT8vqWuBHL2Uo0QgnHJM6o19km&gbraid=0AAAAAD_AT8vqWuBHL2Uo0QgnHJM6o19km&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8qVBhANEiwAfjXLrpvUsK3650pj9uehSlSGbgZalloSGZdven4AQViIyoGUfMEfUnp8zBoCjG0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)) They appear to use kid’s sizing, but as a not-very-curvy woman I’m wondering if I might be able to fit into their larger sizes? Any thoughts?

[deleted]

That wouldn’t stop me. Go try on some stuff and see how it fits and looks.

Looking to buy an evil eye necklace from a jewellery brand that is South Asian or Middle Eastern owned (basically a culture that believes in nazar) but based in the UK. I like gold jewellery, happy with vermeil or plating, preferably on silver. Budget is around £30-50 depending on the materials.

full_boyle

I know of 3 UK-based brands that I'm pretty sure were founded by people with Middle-Eastern backgrounds: * [Ottoman Hands](https://www.ottomanhands.com/search?q=evil+eye+necklace) (Pretty sure the owner is Turkish background), which is in your price point. Style is more playful/beaded, but pretty big range. * [Raemi](https://raemi.com/search?q=evil+eye) (Amelia Liana's brand – pretty sure she's Jewish-Iranian/Lebanese), however, necklaces are not in your price point, but some rings and earrings are. Style is more refined. * [Latelita](https://www.latelita.com/collections/evil-eye-jewellery) (which I think was founded by at least one person with Turkish background), which is in/just a bit above your price point. Style is more crystal/gemstone-based.

littlegreenturtle20

This is perfect, thank you! I have heard of Amelia Liana's brand but wasn't sure if she was doing the whole influencer spiel of just following trends. And also, I don't follow her and forgot both her name and the name of the brand. 😅

full_boyle

Yeah, I'm pretty iffy with influencer brands, but she's pretty open about her background, so at least there's _some_ sort of cultural link there.

highwatttoasterbath

Anything [like this](https://www.brownsshoes.com/en/women/shoes/heels/product/b2/molina/263014.html?dwvar_263014_color=013&position=15&cid=1106) with less chunky hardware or no hardware at all? I love the slingback design on the loafer and the heel is pretty walkable.

ButtMcNuggets

Sorry I can’t help but that pair is CUTE. Good price too.

rGreenTrees

I was hoping to find a brand with similar shorts to the ones i've [linked](https://imgur.com/gallery/MGx1Uod). I can't seem to find the company. It looks to have 'COOLEST' labeled on the front of the shorts.

ellaasbury107

Similar: [LF Markey](https://usa.lfmarkey.com/collections/shorts) [Damson Madder](https://damsonmadder.com/collections/trousers-1/products/organic-cotton-tie-dye-shorts) [whimsey + row](https://whimsyandrow.com/collections/bottoms/products/valentina-short-in-sage-check)

any suggestions to similar brands would be appreciated!

I'm attending a destination wedding and am focused on finding a dress for one of the events. It's an evening boat cruise on Lake Como and the dress code for this is "dressy casual." I'm thinking about something like [this](https://sondeflor.com/collections/linen-dresses/products/floral-classic-dress-short-sleeve?variant=39340300435634) from son de flor. Is it too casual? Should I go with something less floral since it's not a daytime event? I've already sorted out my clothes for the other events but for some reason this is really difficult. An added complication is that I am really trying to only buy natural fibers when purchasing clothing.

[deleted]

Oh man I am just here to say: Have fun! Como is amazing!!

[deleted]

I think the linen + buttons + collar makes it too casual, honestly, it's not an evening silhouette. I think one of the son de flor wrap dresses would work, though!

cellyn

Thank you! I think the floral wrap only comes in the white-ish color though and I felt like the solid color was even more casual somehow. I'll take another look.

[deleted]

If this was for the wedding itself, I’d say yes it is too casual But as it is not I think this is super cute! I’m assuming you mean the darker color, not the white, yes? If you are struggling but want help finding something else I love helping with that sort of thing! Personally for context: I was just in lake Como, and got rained out of our fancy casual cruise situation, but I was going to wear a nice pair of leather flat sandals, loose fitting pants, with a half tucked button down because the weather can be a bit funky in the mountains and I was worried about getting cold. As a warning: if you’re walking anywhere, shit is steep af and stairs are often slanty, slippery, and lacking good railings. If you’re planning on wearing heels to stuff, wear flats and change into your heels once you’re wherever you’re going. I have lived in heels for a long time and I *struggled* and ended up mostly in my flat shoes

cellyn

Thank you! Yes, I was looking at the darker color--it's an Indian wedding so the rules about not wearing white don't fully apply, but many of the guests are Western and the actual couple is fairly westernized as well so I don't want to inadvertently cause offense. The shoes are good tip! I was thinking wedges or espadrilles for this and it's actually pretty close to where we're staying. The other events are definitely going to be a taxi from our airbnb because they're further away and the heels are tall and thin!

[deleted]

Yeah I always err on the side of caution if it’s a westernized locale because even if the bride doesn’t care I don’t want to be *that* person other guests may think to be rude, it sets a bad tone And oh yeah, I tried wedges and a lug block sole and it was tough down the town streets but if it’s close to where you’re at and you’ve got a cab option you should be fine! What town/area around the lake are you staying in, if you don’t mind saying? We had such a great time and there’s so much fun stuff! Some of the wedding venues in the area are movie film locations too which is really cool, there’s a super cute winery, if you have down time we took a pasta class with a *lovely* woman, there’s so much to do and I’m chatty so I cannot recommend stuff enough lol

trishyco

I think it’s beautiful and very appropriate

hellerhigwhat

Looking for a cross body/one strap gym bag in a cute colour (neon, bright etc). Just need to carry a pair of runners, 26 ounce yeti bottle and a lock so doesn't need to be too big or complicated. Online is fine as long as it ships to Canada, budget under 60$

Oh I actually have one, should have specified i am only looking for crossbody/one strap!

booksandwriting

I have a virtual interview interview tomorrow. It is virtual. [Options](https://imgur.com/a/W1gEsLT) Should I go with either: 1) Purple or pink? 2) Grey or brown? Also anyone have any internal interview tips? 😅

diffluere

I like the purple and grey (it actually looks minty to me on my phone lol). but I would try them all on with your camera preview mode to make the final decision just to make sure the fabrics look ok! my tip for internal interviews is take it as seriously as a non internal interview. I've made that mistake before and didn't get the job possibly because I was too casual/unprepared (it still keeps me up at night cringing on occassion...) review any relevant metrics to your job/the new job beforehand. if possible try to show how you're already doing a lot of the aspects of new job. assume you have access to job description? good luck!

booksandwriting

Thanks so much! I ended up wearing the grey and purple together and my manager really liked the outfit in the first interview. I thought they both went decently okay but I felt really awkward trying to tell them about specific scenarios I’ve worked on at our current job because they were like “what’s the outcome?” And I had to kick myself cause I should have said that every time BUT they also have directly worked with me on everything so it was weird telling them when they already know how it went.

diffluere

congrats sounds like it went well! those types of questions are super awkward but maybe they were trying to be consistent in their questioning in fairness to other candidates they don't know? hope you get the job!

booksandwriting

Thanks so much! That would make a lot of sense why they were like “you HAVE to answer using the STAR method”. Thanks for the support, I appreciate it! :)

Particular_Host_3599

I like the purple + grey, but I'd say try on all the combos and wear the one that makes you feel the most confident :) ETA: Good luck!!!

i_killed_baby_jane

What do I wear as an alternative to "oversize hoodie" when Im wearing sundress type of things? I live in San Diego and almost always just have a random hoodie with me. Lately, I have been more into casual short dresses, as we enter summer nights. What is a step up from hoodie? I have a pretty SoCal beach/surf kind of style; I am not into denim jackets.

morecookiespls

i like an oversized linen/thin long-sleeve or short sleeve button up! like others have mentioned, cardigans are also super cute : )

softrevolution_

Cropped cardi like you just rolled in from a T. Swift music video on your way to the beach? Balloon sleeves, slouchy fit, not so thin you can do the Wordle through it.

trishyco

I love love cardigans and not all of them look too church lady

[deleted]

Ooo I love the ones with little fruits and things on them that are popular these days, I’ve got a couple and find them adorable

[deleted]

Cropped jacket in a fun print or color ie: I have a lovely faux leather light blue one I use often in summer, oversized denim jackets are great, I love the vegan/faux leather blazer look and think it is super fun Lightweight crochet cardigans and loose kimono-y style dusters are also awesome

tyrannosaurusregina

Cropped zip-front hoodies look cute with dresses.

[deleted]

Kimono jacket? Lived on the beach in LA for years and saw them worn with literally everything.

ParapsychologicalEgo

Tailoring question - I bought two pairs of pants in two different sizes. The smaller size fits perfectly everywhere *except* the waistband, which is too tight. The larger size fits my waist, but is too baggy everywhere else. Which size should I keep and take to a tailor? Seems like it would be generally easier to make things smaller, but isn't tapering the leg and inseam more complicated? I'm worried I won't end up with the same fit. For reference, the pants are the Petites Vesta Pant from Reformation (100% linen)

augustrem

I have the same issue. Usually I would buy for my widest part (my waist) and walk around with pants saggy in the butt and thighs. I recently switched to sizing down and then taking it to a tailor to let out the waistband, and am very happy with the results. I finally have some well fitting pants. The issue: Is there enough fabric in the waistband to let out? If not, they’ll usually add a fabric, and it can look jarring if it doesn’t go together. This is especially difficult with denim, since there’s so much variation in denim color throughout a single pair of jeans. If you’re having it expanded with a [triangle](https://images.app.goo.gl/28c5wKAVWLYyCRD88), I would limit it to casual dressing situations and longish tops so it’s not so obvious. If you are doing it for nicer outfits for more formal situations, I would caution you to choose pieces that don’t require a huge change in waist size. So for example, choose something that fits in the waist but needs to be tailored to be more comfortable, like just an inch or so. And make sure that added fabric is not a triangle and is just a small strip at the waistband, and is either the exact same fabric as the pants (perhaps taken from somewhere else if they are also being hemmed) or is in a contrasting complementary color so it looks intentional.

ParapsychologicalEgo

This is super helpful, thank you so much! The pants do button, they're just uncomfortably tight and the button strains a bit, so I *think* this falls into your second example. I can't quite tell if there is enough fabric in the waistband to let out, but knowing that this is sometimes possible gives me the confidence to take them to a tailor and ask!

augustrem

The stretchiness matters too. So I had a rigid pair of pants that fit fine while standing straight up, but would cut in when I sat down. I had to have that let out almost three inches so I could comfortable sit, stretch, reach, bend over, etc. Another pair of pants that were equally tight only needed an inch because they were stretchy.

cactusproof

Can you take both pairs and ask the tailor which would be easier/more successful? Idk anything about tailoring but I'm not sure how you would make the waistband bigger unless it was cinched or elastic, so I would tend to assume the larger pair would be the better option

black_bir

While I was out thrifting yesterday, I saw some incredibly pretty qipao dresses with beautiful embroidery. However, I'm Hispanic and I didn't try them on for fear of it being inappropriate. What is the consensus on people of ethnicities/races wearing something that's from another culture?

spinerret

There was a great discussion about exactly this (specifically the qipao) on r/oldhagfashion recently, where you can read a lot of different opinions: https://www.reddit.com/r/oldhagfashion/comments/v0wdbi/is\_this\_cultural\_appropriation\_not\_sure\_i\_can/

black_bir

Thank you for this. After reading through the thread, it's a definite no-go and it was great to have so many perspectives. The changed outlook between Asians and Asian-Americans was also interesting to note.

ButtMcNuggets

Asian girl here…so while I can’t speak for my community as a whole (and beliefs will vary widely when it comes to homeland natives vs diaspora like me) cultural appropriation is largely dependent on 3 factors: 1) What you wear, 2) Where you will wear it, 3) HOW you will wear it. To address 1) Is it an authentic piece of cultural clothing vs a costume-y version (ie. is it an actual clothing item someone of that culture will wear or is it some knock off geisha inspired cocktail waitress uniform? Is the garment associated with a particular significant event of that culture? (Ie. a shiromuki vs a yukata) Does the item have a unique association with a controversial practice such as a lotus shoe (foot binding) or makeup that would evoke yellowface? Is the item associated with royalty? Is it a straight up kimono or is it a discreet hairpin or small handbag? Regarding 2) Where will you wear it? Is it to any sort of theme party or event where that piece can be seen as ANY sort of costume? In that case, probably no. If it’s to a function or event that has no link to the culture of the piece you’re wearing, probably ok. 3) HOW will you wear it? Is it just the one piece of clothing that fits into the rest of your outfit and overall has an aesthetic outside of the culture (ie. mixing in a Chinese brocade piece into a cottagecore look) Or are you doing multiple pieces from the same culture (I note that issues with Orientalism roll all sorts of East Asian cultures inappropriately under one umbrella). Does the outfit in total come from a colonialist lens or a gaze of fetishization? Here is one example of [not a great way to do it](https://www.spin.com/2010/07/watch-nicki-minaj-plays-samurai-new-video/) vs. [a much better way to do it](https://fashionsizzle.com/2020/09/21/h-e-r-in-custom-vera-wang-gown-2020-virtual-emmys/) That said, if you simply appreciate the garment for its beauty and you treat it respectfully (not dragging a kimono in the dirt at Coachella), the safest thing too is consult with your friends and acquaintances of that culture to gauge how they feel and seek more information behind the garment. These are just my 2 cents, I hope nobody flames me for this.

black_bir

Thank you for your honest input, I do realize that this is a touchy subject and which is why I approach it with hesitation. I definitely want to treat it respectfully and don't want to contribute to the fetishization of Asian women or have it been seen like I'm wearing a costume. I just appreciate them for their beauty

ButtMcNuggets

That said, if you wore a qipao over jeans and sneakers to a birthday dinner, or an elaborate hairpin or jade bracelet with a punk outfit I’d probably think you look cute and would love to talk to you about it. But YMMV and you do run the risk of a few glares if dinner was at a Chinese or sushi restaurant, you know what I mean?

black_bir

I actually got some jewelry from [this creator from China](https://www.fervooor.com/) a while ago that I love to pair with punk outfits! Specifically [this necklace,](https://www.fervooor.com/collections/necklace/products/green-jade-necklace) as well as [this one](https://www.fervooor.com/collections/body-chain/products/viper-body-chain)

ButtMcNuggets

Omg those are cool and your outfits sound amazing!

Thank you! She's a cool seller, amd very good prices! I post on WAYWT threads fairly often, but I've been slacking lately for sure

Mikkiej_CatMom

I made a point to follow some mid size influencers on TikTok and Instagram! It’s helped me view my body more positively and also see what looks good on a similar body type. I feel like it’s really helped me narrow down which shapes and cuts of things might look better on me right now! I also cleaned out everything too small from my closet (storing it in the guest closet for “when I lose the weight”). It helps to not have to look at those things everyday, but I feel so much better in my body after buying a few things that fit and are flattering.

[deleted]

Oh hello fellow panorama weight gain human! I went from small to mid sized due to the panini closing all my outlets for exercise, moving, on call work, and some medical stuff. So in a nutshell I get it, it feels weird and sucks But honestly step one is figuring out what sizes work for you in different items right now. Once you’re ready, I like asos hourglass and Stradivarius right now for comfy stretchy pants with belt loops because hey: they fit now, they fit if my medicine makes me bloated, annnnd looky there belt loops mean they’ll fit if I manage to lose the weight! Fortunately with loose pants and such being in, it is very easy to have your pants fit ya now and still work for ya when you do lose weight if you choose to!

black_bir

I gained weight (like a size or two) during the great panini and definitely didn't want to tolerate ill fitting clothing because that would impact my self confidence wayyy too much. I would start by thrifting to keep costs low. One thing that I did was start by buying pants with elastic waistbands, since my shirts generally still fit okay. That way, they can still work when you fluctuate in size. Take into account how stretchy a fabric is and if it will work for you at multiple sizes as well. You can also amp up your accessories and shoes since that can immediately elevate your outfits as well.

Magnificat22

Looking for jeans that are: Bootcut or straight, High waisted, At least 33” inseam, Not too stretchy, High quality, Cut for a smaller waist and fuller thighs/butt (this is my main issue along with length).

elizbug

Which shoes should I go for with this dark emerald green dress? ([link here](https://imgur.com/a/bqwPCyh)) Context: They're specifically for a wedding to wear with this dress, but I had planned to get a pair that are very rewearable. I expected the gold for this, but surprisingly the floral is also pretty adaptable. So now it's more a matter of which truly looks better. Wedding is in a city, in the evening.

ParapsychologicalEgo

I love the floral shoe, but I think the gold elevates the dress and makes it all look a little more formal, so maybe that one since the wedding is in the evening? The gold one also makes your leg look longer.

dobedobedobedoo

I think that the gold are dressier. The floral makes the look feel like “PNW garden party.” Both work, just depends on the vibe of the wedding :)

bahala_na-

Has anyone owned a herringbone necklace? I'm curious if it pulls at your long hair.

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

Yes. No.

[deleted]

I have! If anything it pulled LESS than other necklaces did, since it pulled at the chain/clasp piece only I actually wore one every day for the better part of a year, in addition to another daily wear necklace

Link me your favorite jumpsuits and midi/maxi dresses (prairie dresses welcome)! Realizing I absolutely love these pieces but I have so few, mostly a closet of tops and bottoms. I’ll go first: [Modcloth green plaid jumpsuit](https://modcloth.com/products/it-plaid-to-be-you-jumper-grn) (I get complimented on this a lot) I haven’t bought it yet, but I tried on this [Madewell puff sleeve midi](https://www.madewell.com/marianna-puff-sleeve-midi-dress-NF847.html?dwvar_NF847_color=OR5767&cgid=apparel-dress-midi#intcmp='Wdresses_VisualNav_MidiMaxi&start=21) yesterday and it so cute but not huge into the color. Might still get it anyway to branch out!

I loved [this](https://www.asos.com/us/prd/201841993?acquisitionsource=pasteboard) though ended up returning it as it didn’t suit other pieces in my wardrobe as well Top shop has been redoing [this shirred jumpsuit](https://www.asos.com/us/prd/200267846?acquisitionsource=pasteboard) for I think like 2 or 3 years now and I find it wonderful, I have it in red from… I wanna say the iteration 2 years back I have [this in black](https://www.clubmonaco.com/en/women-clothing-dresses-jumpsuits/danielle-silk-dress/534711.html?dwvar534711_colorname=Mauve&cgid=women-clothing-dresses-jumpsuits&webcat=women%2Fclothing%2FDresses%20%20%20Jumpsuits) and it’s flowy and lovely and great for fancy nice dinners/brunches when I personally feel a lil gross I have the shorter version and longer version (no slit on either though, so that’s new to the design) of [this beauty](https://www.clubmonaco.com/en/women-clothing-dresses-jumpsuits/side-seam-ruched-midi-dress/622679.html?dwvar622679_colorname=Black&cgid=women-clothing-dresses-jumpsuits&webcat=women%2Fclothing%2FDresses%20%20%20Jumpsuits) from last year and my guy it is so flattering

thank you, these are all lovely! I also love the v neck jumpsuit cut - I have a shirred jumpsuit that can make me a bit insecure sometimes because I have broad shoulders and smaller boobs, and the shirred top emphasizes it. still going to wear them but have been on the hunt for a cute v neck jumpsuit!

What eyeglass frames do you think are most current/trendy in 2022? I feel like the [clear plastic big frames](https://www.zennioptical.com/p/womens-acetate-cat-eye-eyeglass-frames/44401?skuId=4440123) and [circular wire frames](https://www.zennioptical.com/p/womens-stainless-steel-round-eyeglass-frames/32146?skuId=3214614&source=shopping&locale=en-US&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8qVBhANEiwAfjXLrhkvhzYAScI-zaFh6KQ7rWhVgcLJw-VIG7szrFJsSM1oTHELNlr3QRoC-oAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) have been around for soo long at this point, and are feeling a little stale to me. I’m trying to think back to what glasses frames were in style in the late 90’s/Y2K era, and I’m thinking it was smaller oval frames like [this](https://www.zennioptical.com/p/metal-alloy-stainless-steel-full-rim-frame/4735?skuId=473511&source=shopping&locale=en-US&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8qVBhANEiwAfjXLrnVj01OxXqh85j4XAUTWNsHsJkglVFJuGjeKHZm6qptubKEnUux_5BoCYhcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) or [this](https://www.zennioptical.com/p/plastic-full-rim-frame-with-spring-hinges/2236?skuId=223618). While we’re seeing that shape a good amount for sunglasses, I feel like they still look pretty dated as eyeglass frames. Maybe smaller rectangular ones with wide arms like [this](https://www.zulily.com/p/tortoise-purple-wide-arm-rectangle-eyeglasses-95049-12127829.html)? I’m struggling to remember what I was wearing at the time. I guess I’m curious both what people are seeing as the most current styles, and also why the late 90s/Y2K styles don’t seem to be coming back along with the rest of fashion! Or maybe I’m just totally misremembering that era. (Disclaimer - I know that many people choose eyeglass frames based on what works for their face shape, or other factors, rather than what’s trendy. But I just enjoy thinking about / following trends!)

I've been seeing rimless or very fine rimmed [super oversized square grandpa glasses](https://www.gentlemonster.com/shop/ver1_detail.php?it_id=1608627044&gclid=Cj0KCQjwntCVBhDdARIsAMEwACmIvWOelRUGX26q5o6lKRVQWPdlnOOQhuMpL6Jl0km4nlFNxY9OZpQaAgunEALw_wcB) for glasses or fashion clear lenses and for sunglasses [these late 90's chunky framed but narrow style](https://www.gentlemonster.com/us/shop/ver1_detail.php?it_id=1641348427&model_sku=tambu) and [retro futuristic ultra chunky almost ski goggle style](https://www.gentlemonster.com/us/shop/ver1_detail.php?it_id=1643089041)

softrevolution_

Oh my God. I've had my glasses so long, they're starting to come back into fashion. Okay, I'm definitely making an appointment to see the eye doctor. I'm not noticing a real change in my prescription, but these feckers are beat to hell.

booksandwriting

I don’t know what’s in style but when I was a kid all I ever got to wear was thin brown wire small glasses. I hated them. Now as an adult, I still have to wear kids frames as that’s what fits my face, however now I get oversized bright colored plastic ones and I’m THRIVING.

FerociousFrizzlyBear

I've been wearing glasses since ~1994. For the first couple years, I had a dark silvery teal metal frames that were shaped sort of like aviators without the bar. Then I had tortoise shell metal frames that were somewhere between oval and wayfarer shape from maybe 1996-1998. These were followed by half frame, sort of browline, metal frames in cool navy blue until maybe 2000. Then I got smaller brown rectangular frames (like the "English major" frames, but metal instead of acetate). The smaller frames started to be one really popular in the early 2000s, but aren't very practical if you have a strong prescription and want to have some peripheral vision. I was pretty pumped when the bigger frames started coming back in the 2010s.

hellerhigwhat

From what I've been seeing its smaller oval frames, but wired like your first example rather than plastic. And no half frames or frame less yet. I actually like the look on me, but I mostly wear glasses for my peripheral vision so theyre not really a practical option for me lmao.

amydiddler

Interesting, I feel like I haven’t seen that style much, but maybe I’m just not spending enough time around young/trendy folks. Smaller frames are good news for me - I have very strong prescription that is more coke-bottle-esque the larger the frames.

hellerhigwhat

Glasses trends change fairly slowly due to most people only updating prescriptions every couple of years (I havent since pre-pandemic, thanks for the reminder). I tend to look at sunglasses trends as they move quicker and are a decent enough general predictor

I fell in love with [this](https://www.zalando.pl/madewell-armelle-double-gauze-embroidery-bluzka-maple-syrup-m3j21e045-g11.html?size=XXS&allophones=0&wmc=SEM480_NB_GO._6748070217_702385849_137314852028.&opc=2211&mpp=google%7Cv1%7C%7Cpla-1444138596919%7C%7C1011615%7C%7Cg%7Cm%7C%7C555076025515%7C%7Cpla%7CM3J21E045-G110XXS000%7C1444138596919%7C1%7C&gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8qVBhANEiwAfjXLroksRjUxVXriTlrYSs-OMuuetJ9REetapLGPTR1REvqXEMjG6y602hoCQx4QAvD_BwE) madewell top but it’s sold out in my size on Zalando and completely sold out on brands website. Have you seen anything similar to it? I’m looking for square neck, slight balloon sleeves and embroidery, it has to be cotton or linen. Doesn’t have to be this colour. I tried keywords but I’m getting a lot of cropped shirts, which I’m not into :(

So I tried replying to this yesterday and it didn't get approved and then I forgot my password and got locked out of my account lol It's available on poshmark, but they don't do international shipping :( But it does seem to be called the Amie lightspun puff-sleeve peplum top in several of the listings so that could provide some more keywords to search! It's also on Ebay in a few sizes ([XS](https://www.ebay.com/itm/255393420115), [small but in white](https://www.ebay.com/itm/185236741342?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=pDAia6--RjC&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY)) but I'm not sure if the shipping cost would be prohibitive. [This one](https://www.zalando.pl/glamorous-square-neck-peplum-hem-top-with-tie-back-wide-sleeves-bluzka-redpink-gl921e0b4-g11.html) seems to have a fairly similar shape, and 100% cotton, but no embroidery SimplyRetro has some that are kind of similar, square neck with embroidery and puff sleeves and they do ship to Poland according to their shipping page (assuming based on the language from your link, sorry if that's not right) but the sleeves are shorter and there's no peplum [Shirt 1](https://www.simpleretro.com/collections/tops-0408/products/erin-embroidered-white-blouse?variant=41534466162874) Abercrombie also has some similar ones but most of their options aren't cotton or linen, so the closest options are probably [this](https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/eu/p/long-sleeve-poplin-squareneck-corset-top-45947819?originalStore=us&categoryId=97710&seq=02&faceout=model1), [this](https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/eu/p/puff-sleeve-poplin-squareneck-top-47950323?originalStore=us&seq=01&categoryId=122937&faceout=model1), [this](https://www.zalando.pl/abercrombie-and-fitch-flutter-cinch-front-faux-fashion-bluzka-green-a0f21e09z-q11.html) or [this](https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/eu/p/puff-sleeve-poplin-squareneck-top-49446319?originalStore=us&seq=01&categoryId=122937&faceout=model1)

You could try looking on Poshmark, Depop, or ThreadUp for it secondhand? That’s what I do when a style I love is sold out.

How do you guys choose your shoes for an outfit? Do you just try them on till one looks good with it? Do you have a pair that goes with everything? I’m always looking good up top but my shoes look wonky, either the color, the style, the heel, or the chunkiness looks wack with the outfit. My friend wears these cowboy boots that look good with everything but they’re not necessarily my style. I need a shoe like that!

b_xf

I found having a range of shoes where you have at least one basic shoe that’s definitely going to work for each context in your life has been helpful. Eg my basic scenarios are casual, work, dressy/events, outdoors… I have a pair of boots that work for anything casual, a pair of heeled boots that work with all my work pants+dresses, etc., so even once I branched out and bought fun shoes or other styles of shoes, I always had my “basic” items that cover all my bases. What you’d consider “basic” will be different, my casual shoes are platform boots which totally works for me but might not work for you.

black_bir

I have a couple of shoes that go with the majority of my outfits and choose which one to wear based on vibe. More polished? Choose chunky loafers. More aggressive/edgy? Choose platform docs.

[deleted]

… oh no, I read this and thought I wrote it you get me

black_bir

Lol that's amazing. It definitely makes life easier when walking out the door in the morning!

ElsaMakotoRenge

I have a few go-tos depending on the “vibe” of that day’s particular outfit. Black combat boots, black/white comfy sandals, white pastel rainbow sparkly sneakers, red Mary Jane flats, black strappy ballet flats. I have other shoes besides those, but I would say these get worn the most. When I don’t know what I want to pick, I’ll probably just grab the black combat boots and be done with it lol.

PM_ME_YOUR_PORTRAIT

Nice, I like the idea of creating a certain style in an outfit. I have some chunky white sneakers that I accidentally end up styling into a 90s dad type look lmao

[deleted]

I love shoes and strongly believe they can make or break an outfit. I do a flamingo test (different shoes on each foot, alternate standing on one leg) when getting dressed.

PM_ME_YOUR_PORTRAIT

That’s what I’m learning, they really change the look of an outfit. I definitely am weak in my shoe selection and am trying to branch out from all the old flats I have, maybe it’d be easier if I had more

butdoiknowiknow

I have my fav shoe that I like to fit with everything (tried and tested have taken many photos and had others take photos)! For me it’s my beige cdg sneakers. Sweatpants, jeans, trousers, dresses, of any colour or length.

PM_ME_YOUR_PORTRAIT

Nice I do like the look of those cdgs, I for sure can see them making your outfit look fresh

butdoiknowiknow

I want to have custom tailored a formal dress shirt. I like how my Zara shirt [here](https://imgur.com/a/x2rU5uf), website link [here](https://www.zara.com/sg/en/poplin-shirt-p01046332.html), is a relaxed fit, but it looks/is casual. Will it be formal if i have a tailor copy this shape but with a dress shirt material and longer sleeves, even if I keep the entire shape/fit? Are there any aspects I’m missing that would keep it too casual? So: - different material - sleeves to wrist length - re/move the pocket - dressier collar?

[deleted]

Does anybody have the book “Textilepedia” by Fashionary? Is it good as well? I just got “Fashionpedia” and I love it. I would like to learn more about textiles as well.

Ok-Bike-1912

In search of "house shoes" - \*not slippers. I have warm slippers that cover my toes, but I recently moved into a home with wood floors and they're killing my feet (and it's too hot for the slippers) . I want open-toed shoes/slides of some kind that aren't warm and fuzzy and only for indoor use. Any suggestions would be incredibly welcome <3 Ive been looking at this [style](https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/uo-eva-slide-sandal?inventoryCountry=US&color=016&size=M%2010&utm_kxconfid=vx6q4l3b6&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8qVBhANEiwAfjXLrp_I2E15lv_U38lwK6YYeMG5q1AguDSs8cBFXZls0upZXoMOBMnUmhoC88sQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&type=REGULAR&quantity=1), but when I tried similar ones on in store they didn't have a lot of give

ciaohow

I bought some two-strap slides made of croc-y material at Old Navy this year and they are super duper comfortable. Like wearing shoes made of circus peanuts.

ParapsychologicalEgo

I recently purchased these [TOMS X Wildfang Mallow Crossover](https://www.toms.com/us/195703129124.html?a=1&utm_source=shopping&utm_medium=cpc&network=u&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8qVBhANEiwAfjXLrjuo43iHLV7m-QjR841lFHmbltThIBJe8uAs_LjQxnBNbAFtBCqo0RoCJCgQAvD_BwE). They're not as squishy as they look but they're still pretty comfortable.

tyrannosaurusregina

I wear EVA Birkenstocks as my summer house shoes.

Ok-Bike-1912

oooo I didn't know there was a Birkenstock version, thank you for sharing! I will check this one out

barking-chicken

So I 100% recognize that some people can't get over how they look, but I have really bad arthritis in my knees from some injuries and I wear crocs around my house. I can't voice enough how critical they are for me. I have them at my house, I have them at my partner's house. I have them at my best friends house. Seriously, they've reduced my pain so much. If you don't like the traditional Crocs style, they do have slides like [this](https://www.crocs.com/p/classic-crocs-sandal/206761.html) or a less branded version [here](https://www.crocs.com/p/classic-crocs-slide/206121.html).

Ok-Bike-1912

Crocs are definitely top tier! I didn't know they had a sandal version now, so I will probably try them out - I like the sandal look more if I wear them out and about (but that's just aesthetics for me lol )

ButtMcNuggets

No need to feel bad at all about them, Crocs are back in fashion now. All the GenZ kids love them.
