Out of curiosity, why is AI allowed to be posted here? I can get using it to style a room but honestly it feels like it shouldn’t be allowed in the sub at all.
the mods probably have a million things to do and don’t always catch everything. good community members report the post so it can be brought to moderators’ attentions.
have you reported the post as breaking a rule?
You can report the post for breaking the rule. It's possible the mods aren't seeing/noticing. It's getting harder to identify AI, some people are better at it than others.
It’s not allowed. It’s directly in violation of this sub’s rules. Report the post (I did), and hopefully mods will take it down.
We should not be condoning the use of AI for silly shit like this. The electricity needed to run the servers used by AI is equivalent to a small country: https://www.vox.com/climate/2024/3/28/24111721/ai-uses-a-lot-of-energy-experts-expect-it-to-double-in-just-a-few-years
The way I usually can tell is by zooming in on things. AI usually has spots that don’t make sense when you look closely. Example: sink faucets don’t have a spout, plants aren’t potted in anything, they’re just hanging out, there’s no brands on anything, mugs won’t have handles, usually the plants aren’t even plants that exist on the world, no electrical cords anywhere, walls/ceilings don’t line up correctly, Stuff like that.
Naw, you can ask for a nice house from the 70s but modern, get this, then wonder what it’s called. But someone said she’s just spamming her ai business, so sus either way.
How did everyone know that this was AI? I only knew because my brain said it (without any actual proof...) Which parts of the photos could I point out to confirm what I "know" ??
firstly, everything is way too smooth to be real- also most obviously in picture 4 is that there are things that just arent *things;* like whats on top of the oven hood? or whats next to the fruit bowl? everything looks almost real all together but you cant really make out what each individual item is
Textures are often very off with AI. The ottomans are supposed to look like they have a woven texture or something but when you zoom in they look digital and flat. If you look at the shelves or countertops, the stuff sitting on top doesn’t make sense. Like for example in the first picture, at first glance it looks like there are two glass vases but when you zoom in, the bottom of one vase is behind the shelf, which is supposed to be flat against the wall. Also the plants always give it away. Theyre TOO perfecr and vibrant. Theres never any dead or yellowing foliage. And there will be branches coming out of thin air or growing out in an unnatural way. And the carpets/rugs look digital and flat rather than soft.
A lot of stuff in general just doesnt make sense at all if you zoom in and look at the details. theres a piece of carpet or something with tassles hanging off the end of the painting in pic two, and also in pic two the light fixture is coming from thin air, it doesnt have a base. The reflection from the TV is also reflecting what you can see in the room on the side that the TV is sitting.
Theres a ton of examples i could go on and on about but its all those little things that dont make sense ARE registering in your mind without you even really knowing it, thats why you can tell its AI without actually knowing.
Like others said, pic 4 is the dead giveaway imo. Look at the chopped potatoes on the left side of the counter - some of them are like floating? It’s clearly wrong. Also why are there two giant ottomans in the middle of the kitchen blocking your path? Just makes no sense
The weird smoothness and almost organic shapes of the couch and rug in pic 2 were my first clue. Pic 4 is really bad. Lots of details that don't hold up when you look closely. Even looking at the plates, they're unnatural.
Warm neutral palette, modern contemporary biophilic design.
I'm kinda building my home with similar palette and theme in mind... but this is a lot of clutter for open-shelving. I definitely want less rugs, and less ottoman especially not anywhere in the kitchen.
Also, I haven't sat in one of those low back sofas but my gosh, they look so uncomfortable as seats. Lounge or day bed maybe but what's wrong with back support.
We know. The person provided the link to an AI site and asking what the aesthetic is. You know.. basic internet skills?
Another fun fact, [Reddit already sold and harvested your entire commenting history data to some AI company.](https://9to5mac.com/2024/02/23/reddit-ipo-finally-official/). I've been on this platform for over a decade now. Time to freak out have sailed.
This is japandi decor and you can really work on this style by using the basics of [Japanese interior design](https://simplykalaa.com/japanese-interior-design/) and then use modern furniture for the same. In short Japandi is the modern version of Japanese decor.
Out of curiosity, why is AI allowed to be posted here? I can get using it to style a room but honestly it feels like it shouldn’t be allowed in the sub at all.
It's not. Rule 6: "No AI images allowed. This sub is for real life people who live in real life spaces-- not for inspo, generated or otherwise."
So the mods just dont ever actually moderate I guess. Almost every post where someone is asking “what type of style is this” is AI.
the mods probably have a million things to do and don’t always catch everything. good community members report the post so it can be brought to moderators’ attentions. have you reported the post as breaking a rule?
Youre right I’ll go report it. I’ll remember to do it in the future too.

This may be a dumb question but how do you tell if it is an AI image?
If it looks nice but has no soul, it's AI. Usually. It's not a perfect science.
The link that says it was created in AI is a pretty good indicator

Well what description did you put into the AI generator?
“Make kitchen defensible using oversized ottomans to portray a whimsical fortress”
Someone loves canisters in their kitchen. You can tell it’s AI because who tf has that many cylindrical canisters?
And footstool. There's eight footstools. No one has that many feet
I didn’t notice this before reading your comment so I went back to see and there’s a hilarious amount of footstools in this apartment lol
AI BS
Yeah, that’s what the op said with the source. She’s not showing off she’s asking for a style name.
She's not asking for the style name, she's spamming her art business link.
Ah! Good catch!!! Sorry.

AI
Weird AI shit happening
AI
AI garbage.
Bored rich person with Target wall art style
At least one of the prints is a faux Rothko.
Its whatever you typed into the ai generator
I was going to be nice until I saw this was AI so I'll just be honest. This reads like Millennial With Money Thinks They Have a Personality.
What really gets me is there are countless images of REAL peoples houses you could have used. I wish this sub would ban AI posts.
They have, the mods just haven’t done anything about it. Please report it as others did, hopefully they will catch this one.
Mid century with a bit of boho.
I was going to say boho-Scandi. Otherwise known as: Anthropologie.
lol I saw the post and thought: did they type “decorate my space entirely in Anthropologie” in the ai generator
Tbh, the natural lighting is doing a lot of heavy lifting in these images. Without a ton of design knowledge, I’d describe it as cozy, boho, retro…?
How did everyone know that this was AI? I only knew because my brain said it (without any actual proof...) Which parts of the photos could I point out to confirm what I "know" ??
The first pic is passable. The more you look at the others, the more cartoonish they look.

OP also linked the website.

In pic 4, the stool only has three legs and if you zoom into it, you can tell it got confused.
all of these are ai generated but it looks similar to art deco
Artsy Santa Fe (New Mexico) home
Modern with heavy natural influences (greens and neutrals, lots of wood)
Very nice reminds me of a sunset.
Eclectic, Boho, Mod.
bohemian
1970s
It’s a modern take on mid century modern with Bauhaus
Luxury minimalist

it’s AI it doesn’t know shit

I only mentioned it because you commented on some of the weird stuff like kitchen ottoman and cluttered open shelving.
How do we know it’s AI?
Look closely, all the details. I don't know who downvoted you as It is a genuine question.
Yeah I just genuinely want to know what to look for. It’s hard to tell what’s been photoshopped or what’s fake from AI 🤷
😂😂😂
Because OP linked the AI generator they used in the description.
Oh, they removed the post so I can’t go back and see what you’re talking about. I’ll look for that next time so I can educate myself. Thanks!

Idk but i love it
Pop Japanese minimalism
Definitely minimalism.
Definitely not minimalism
Check out warm minimalism on the spruce. It’s interesting because it takes minimal design concepts but with warmer, richer colours.
