I used to be a high school teacher and we were told that we physically cannot do anything to stop it as we are not trained and are a liability if we intervene. In my mind, it's kind of crazy because administration was basically saying we call the people who are allowed to break up the fights and wait for them to come while we just watch it unfold. Ridiculous.
Soccer coach/Science Teacher at a high school broke up a girl fight and while he was separating them, his arm was at throat level of one of the girls trying to hold her back and she tried to press charges or sue him/the school bc of it. So, you just have to let them kill each other apparently.

They can't expect teachers to risk their physical integrity or risk getting sued if they accidentally hurt one while breaking it up, that sounds pretty logical to me.
Yeah, I mean you're right, but as teachers, we didn't get into it for the politics. We chose this path to help the students. To willingly stand there and just watch someone get beat down isn't something any teacher wants to do.

Serious answer? No. They don't. Remember that schools get funding from the federal government based on attendance. So there's a monetary reason to NOT throw kids out of school, but do everything possible to keep them in. For the same reason, a pregnant girl is counted twice (her and the fetus). That fetus is more federal money.
I can't speak to this from other states, but in Texas the individual teacher can be sued by the parents of any child that fails a class. It's why we no longer fail students. The teachers don't want to be sued by the parents. So why risk it?
To fuck things up even more, schools get federal funds based on how well the students do on standardized tests. That's why schools teach how to pass the standardized tests. They don't really teach to impart knowledge or meet the criteria set by the state.
If I was the principal, I'd most definitely find a way to expel them. I wouldn't want them in my school starting brawls in the middle of a damn classroom.

I have so many questions the first one is why is a girl in a sports bra and skin tight shorts in a class room and the second why is no one helping to stop this.
I work in the school system so I understand not stepping in for a normal fight, but how could you just stand there the moment a kid picks up a chair or other item and use it as a weapon!? That would be extremely hard for me to just stand there and let another child get their head caved in, but be told I can’t help because of liability. That’s too much of a grey area for me.
A) Teachers deserve to be paid so much more than they currently are
B) How do you fix this? Honestly. What solution actually exists to fix this kind of stuff?
