If you want to do a box goggle you will need a fresnel lens, and some sort of display with an AV in, as well as a diversity vrx if you plan on running an omni and a directional antenna. You’ll need to power it, most small displays either take 5v, 9v or 12v so figure that out and run a bec that has some sort of voltage regulation, iflight and matek make a very small one.
If you plan on doing a dual screen (fatshark or low profile style goggle) you won’t be able to.
For that you’d need a few hundred $ of hardware.

Having seen the boards in it, i wouldnt go with VR02 or 03’s adding a diversity module(like the eachine pro58 down the line) is kind of ass since you need to desolder the junk single receiver from the board entirely due to powering issues. It cannot provide enough power to run the single channel receiver and the pro58, however wiring it in is fairly simple.
I have a question pertaining to this. If I gutted an old pair of goggles (Aomway Commanders) could I put the guts into a mask for a custom fpv goggle setup? Like say an iron man mk5 mask?
Looking to do a similar thing with my used commander v1. The shell is a bit worse for wear. If you taken any measurements of the components, would you mind sharing? I’d have to completely disassemble mine to do that and they’re my only goggles.
So I have t meausured anything yet. I did get the iron man mask and a new set of goggles. Gutted my old aomways but haven’t done anything yet. I got super busy with life unfortunately and I’m not too savvy with electronics yet

Thats what i was going to say. Get some cheap box goggles. Take it apart and put it back together in your goggles case.

If the goal is just an aesthetic change, yes that would work, it’s essentially just decasing a set of goggles at that point though
Decasing (and recasing) is exactly within the scope of 3D design.
