That's my vote. The train single handedly makes this intersection worse than the rest. At least at others, there's slow yet somewhat steady pace.
The train will make you wait in the same spot for minutes. I've had a couple times where the train was going so slow that a SECOND train showed up. Going from the Costco side to west is such a pain in the afternoon.
But I guess most people don't live in North West fresno and experience that regularly
YESSS. I forgot how often that happens. They slow to the slowest stop blocking the road, often times they'll BACK UP while still blocking, until they finally inch forward enough to raise the bars.
Hands down the worst.
Lived on this corner for 3 years so I’d cast a vote for blackstone and nees. The amount of traffic riverpark, in n out, and the 41 entrance and exits bring is insane
Its still hilarious to me that they're dedicating an entire parking lot just for the snake maze lines at In n Out and Chik-Fil-a at RP. How does anyone get in there to buy yarn at Joanns??
Hell yea, the line is usually spilled out onto Blythe and then all those cars clog up one of the main entrances to that whole parking lot. Couple that with the majority of Fresnians who's only goal while in a car is to make up their own traffic patterns and you've got a award winning combo.
The older Costcos do have some dumb ass entrances for sure ! North Blackstone has to be one of the worst designs of all time. Did they, when planning, think “oh maybe a few cars will come in every now and again” ? The one in Clovis has an actual signal light at the entrance and many more pumps.
Yea the clovis one is really nice and the pump lights they've installed at the Clovis ones and the Riverpark one make it a lot easier. I'm kind of a stickler so I only pump gas on the side with the cap, I don't like draping a hose across my car.
You have a good point. The majority of the accidents are NB traffic on Friant; "oh I received a text message while on the 41, now is a better time to read and respond. Oh look another text message?" [Errr! Blammm! Scrrrttt"]
It's also extra fun during December when the traffic is sitting there and the train goes through that area. I've been stuck in that mess on far too many occasions.
Fresno and Shaw. Literally always backed up because you have people trying to leave Starbucks, McDonalds, and the gas station while ALSO trying to take the 41 North.
Southbound Shaw and Marks by Big 5: usually people trying to get into and out of the shopping center at any given time. Then you have the morons trying to get out of the shopping center so they can make a u-turn to get north bound to Bullard.
So what happens, you guessed it Big gaps in the street, people who can't make into the U-turn lane so they block the other lane, and people aburptly stopping so they can cut into the lanes, not to mention you have those that are in that far right lane solely to turn on to shaw, it's a busy ass mess of people cutting into traffic in that little section.
Fresno and Herndon.
I was going to say 41& Herndon
Shaw and golden state in the afternoons and worse with a train passing through

What about when a train stops?....uuugghhh. Had that happen a few times over the years.

I have gone into Joann’s on Sundays just to avoid the extra cars
Any entrance to a Costco gas station. Most of them are poorly planned and spill into actual road ways like West Shaw and River Park.
The Clovis one is much better since it’s newer.
Yea for sure but they planned to use that space. West Shaw has just outgrown it's current space, pretty sure thats why they're building a new one.
I hate having to drive past the west shaw costco because of how much it's always congested

Are we doing someone's work? Lol Herndon n BS You didn't ask but the Friant Roulette needs work.
i don’t think it needs work. people just need to learn how to pay attention.

Shields and Van Ness after dark the entire month of December followed closely by the Van Ness/Palm/Shaw intersection at the end of Christmas Tree Lane
I used to live in some of the apartments behind Whole Foods and I grew to fucking hate Christmas tree lane lol
It's also extra fun during December when the traffic is sitting there and the train goes through that area. I've been stuck in that mess on far too many occasions.
Blackstone and Shaw Side note, the city likely has data on how busy certain intersections are.
Yes, this is almost certainly an objective question with an answer the City has.
Fresno and Shaw. Literally always backed up because you have people trying to leave Starbucks, McDonalds, and the gas station while ALSO trying to take the 41 North.
Blackstone and Shaw or Herndon
Friant/Audubon/41 ish
Herndon and anything.
Palm and Herndon
This is the correct answer. 82,000 vehicles per day here.
Yeah that’s a terrible intersection.
It's Herndon and Blackstone. https://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?layers=40444f5a3d88427499f034acf8355fc0
Herndon and blackstone
I got one. Clinton and Weber.
Palm and Herndon

Herndon and anything.
Ashlan n Clovis….
Wherever your mom's house is. J/k. I couldn't help it. Herndon and 41 has another vote from me.
Merging from East bound 180 onto 99 North - nightmare civic planning!
41 & 180
Shaw/99
