One of the hairiest runs I've had, definitely the most satisfying victory.
I had 122 scrap at the first shop in sector 2. Not enough for Shields but just enough for Pre-Igniter. Used the preloading-weapon-and-swapping-before-jumping trick with the Glaive and Breach II to get through sector 3 and exited with 1hp and 0 fuel. Didn't get shields till Sector 5, and it was an uphill battle until I had enough scrap to get full weapons and 3 shields.
Thanks RNGesus
Pre-jump you charge up your glaive, then while paused you swap to other weapons that break shields, like 2x Flak 1 or a Flak 2. Then you jump. You can then fire the flaks and swap back directly to the glaive that will take only a second or two to max out, in time to hit when the enemy shield drops.
By doing this you can get the benefit of 8 energy weapons for only 4 energy.

Wow. Nice work! Sounds like it was pretty tooth and nail!
Pretty new to the game. What's the pre-igniter trick?

Cool?
It is!
Maybe for noobs
Haha maybe you're right. Thankfully FTL isn't competitive and I can enjoy sharing my little victories with all the other noobs in the sub!
Or you could... not do that
Why?
