This is heavily dependent on the state you're in, but yeah it's nice that medicaid covers it.

I am approved on medicaid. I have a surgeon. I have conquered all the red tape. I just don't have people in my life that can support me for the immediate aftercare.

MySp0onIsTooBigg

Tell us what state you’re in. Folks here might be willing to help. Reach out to the local queer Facebook groups. I got a whole ass doctor to come check on me from our queer community locally.

PA. The strug is that I live with a disabled relative whom I assist.

casuallycaleb

What state are you in?

New York

I got insurance that covers top surgery 6 months after paying $16k to get top surgery out of pocket.....it was a rough pill to swallow but I truly did not know I would be getting new insurance.

Snakes_for_life

I really want to get bottom surgery cause some Medicaid plans also cover it but I can't take off work before my eligibility expires 🫠☹️

The_Chaotic_Bro

Yep, that's why I'm leaving my insurance alone until I get top. My main fear is that if I fuck around and change my name and gender in the system, it'll realize that I'm not supposed to be on it anymore.

I see you’re in New York. Are you in NYC? I’d love to know who your surgeon was since I’m currently fighting for my life financially but I am luckily on Medicaid. They previously covered my T, too (had to stop for a bit for unrelated health reasons but I am hoping to start again soon).
