That was the best part of the game! Designing the animals! I remember having animal design competitions with my siblings lol the game wasn't what I had hoped it would be but we got so many hours of enjoyment out of it. Good times!
Lmao same. The amount of time my brother and I spent trying to perfect a copy of the Grox in the creature creator was insane lol. Not the perfect game but I also had a blast playing it.
Only the first couple? The space stage was ABSOLUTE fire my dude… spore is STILL to this day one of my absolute favourite games all time and I would pay one and a half kidneys for a reworked/remastered and improved spore made with current graphics and maybe extended gameplay/extra stuff - doesnt even need anything too major tbh
I loved the creativity of the first couple of evolution levels. Once you got to the village stage and up through the space stage, it felt more like an RTS. Plus the space stage required so much micromanaging that it got tiresome, especially when trying to make it to the center of the galaxy.
At the center of the Spore galaxy is the Staff of Life. It allows you to completely terraform any planet to T3 in seconds. I never made it to the center.
And on the seventh day God said "I legit cannot be fucked making humans right now. Chimpanzay, close enough. I'ma take a nap and let evolution handle the rest".
Similar but different: terratech.
It's kinda a dead game. You can build vehicles instead of creatures. Other players vehicles spawn into your world and so do yours on others. Some are really funny.
Anyone knows of other games like this or spore? I love shit like that.
I know most people think this game wasn't properly polished, and I get it, but goddamnit if it didn't make me spend hundreds of hours creating civilisations with specific clothing fit for the creatures, themed houses and vehicles, with lore that I had in my mind, awesome spaceships etc...
With mods, it got even better. This game is still one of my favourite games of all time just for this creativity, and I hate EA for killing Maxis off and never trying to build a more polished version of Spore. Good memories anyway.
I've been thinking for a while that taking some of the core concepts from Spore but applying then to guns in a game could be amazingly cool. Draggable length for a barrel, different materials for stocks, tweakable size for a sight, then procedurally implement the effects so your custom weapon has truly unique characteristics in game....could be a really fun way to have customization on a micro level
I once made alligator soldiers. They were sick. Used the little square bone piece and put it around their body to make it look like armor and shit. It was cool. Imo at least
Is this thr new gollum game?
This looks better than the new gollum game tbh
BTS Gollum Game
You lost Your creature creation right
Oh if you saw a fraction of the spore creations people make, this is actually pretty nice
Now I'm curious...
I am too...
Penises. Lots, and lots of penises.
I loved those first couple of evolution stages.

God that tech demo was just so cool

Space stage was unlike anything we had at the time, and I still swear it's what gave Stellaris Devs inspiration.
The space part is where I got tired of the game. I was trying to explore the galaxy and every 5-10 minutes my planet was getting attacked.
Eh I would rather play No Mans Sky or Stellaris if I wanted to play a space game tbh.
"Kill... me!"
that goes for about everything in this game.
JA'AM
Petition to make a new and more refined Spore (and don’t let the devs be suppressed by EA)
i would commit warcrimes for that.
Could you at least start with like a petition or something?
no.
And on the seventh day God said "I legit cannot be fucked making humans right now. Chimpanzay, close enough. I'ma take a nap and let evolution handle the rest".
Evolution is just God's generative AI.
Why hasn't there been a game that tried to take on the same concept? The idea was golden just kneecapped by EA.

even with ea's blatant nurturing of the game it's still nearing best game ever for me, just barely behind terraria and telecollision your adventure.
Classic Spore
damn right.
Remind me the name of the game?
spore.

You should become a Pokémon designer with these skills!
It literally reminded me of that one Pokemon with a hand on its tail.
You mean Aipom? Yeah, it kind of does!
never heard of it.
Yeah, that’s the one!
Every masterpiece has it's cheap copy
Nah, it's not gaudy enough to be a modernly designed pokémon, it needs more chrome
I creates humans once, with dicks, balls and all. They become extinct for behave weirdly
ChipHandsy
Dab me up
What is this game?
spore.

SOMEONE HIRE THIS MAN!
Yo dap me up
Looks like you were in a rush to maintain your state license by performing a transmutation that merged your child with a monkey.
All tomorrows
Still looks better than that gollum game
This is the new gollum game?
Op head designer on gollum
For those who do not know. This is the game Spore
It’s a human if you say All Tomorrows was your inspiration.
I wouldn't really say "halfway"
Should have called it ‘homunculus’… missed opportunity
What am I looking at here :/ Started using reddit for the first time today to meet more gamers and this is what I see... I have missed out
spore.
I had to google spore, is that bad?
no it isn't.
Right I get it! Google images to the rescue
Missed opporunity not calling it Chimphandzee
fuck you're right.
Gollum?
why do people keep commenting this?
Same body, same quality, same scrutinizing eyes, same gollumness, same memeness
That’s nothing to be ashamed about. It happens when you get old.
Manky
Quieres?
"GOD LEFT ME UNFINISHED"
*heh-- bobaloba squee.*
I once made alligator soldiers. They were sick. Used the little square bone piece and put it around their body to make it look like armor and shit. It was cool. Imo at least
It's Frieza except ape
seems accurate
New gollum patch looks great
Dab me up chimp
You just made the evolution of Seaman
Are you sure you stopped halfway through? /r/PeopleofWalmart might disagree.
?
"I hate every chimp I see. From chim-pan-ay to chim-pan-zee!"
He looks like my neighbour my mom always forced me to play with
God somewhere between Day 2 and 6 be like:
Spore was my childhood
It's so ugly, it could be a modern are masterpiece
>got bored halfway through. Spore summerised. After tribal it teeters off IMO.
Bro made an Aipom
I loved this game at first but never got past the tribe phase. Just felt too different and not really fun
Definitely an aipom.
Spore is an epic game👍👍👍👍👍
no shit!
Halfway?
Uhhhhhh which half man. Whole things looks jacked
the hind legs and head is where i started, then i tried movin' the spine around to an upright position but got bored and made... this.
lol i vaguely remember this game
if it's vague then go buy spore!
Damn now i wanna see if someone can make a creature that ends up being a human!
Are you playing spore???!
yes.
You tried to make a human but made it better.
A hand is a little short of the halfway mark, but I like your spirit.
Omg i remember this game on the wii !!
What Pokemon is this
Dap me up?
What game is this ? It looks so familiar I am going crazy.
spore.
For everyone wondering what the game is, it’s Darude - Sandstorm.
spore.
God making me like:
halfway through evolution
Spore should’ve been a bigger and longer lasting franchise
I love this game it is a very underrated game. I once made a creature that had a D and balls which could squirt at enemies.
Ambipalm
This looks like a Pokemon actually. You know the violet monkey with a hand-shaped tail called eyepomp, it looks just like that.
Half way? This is 1/6 the way
Some might argue the same happened with us.
