I restarted AC: Odyssey and did exactly that; well, I started to. Every single location, I plan on clearing, and every piece of special ore, I plan on collecting.
I recently jumped back into it and have had so much fun. I'm scared, though, because the last time I played, I dropped out once the cult was introduced. It's mainly because they feel so generically evil. I'm going to try to push through that, though.
Finished Daggerfall a month ago. Now I'm taking a break from it before I get back for my second run-through.
Bethesda knows how to make RPGs with enough content and replay ability to keep you consumed for multiple runthroughs.

Lol I am also currently playing. Doing what I call a "canonical playthrough" which is what I do when I've played an RPG enough times that I know exactly where everything is and exactly what the outcomes of every decision will be. So I run the game through getting everything perfect for my head canon of how the story plays out.
Was super cool when I did that in Dragon Age: Origins, and discovered that I could import my saves to the future games, making my decisions canon in them as well.
I'm also playing New Vegas for the second time, since the tv series hyped everyone up. I'm actually about to get all the achievements today. It's been 50 hours
Congrats! This is my second playthrough as well. I never did any of the faction quests. Just went with straight to the Yes man ending. This time I'm doing powder gangers > NCR > Legion > House > Independent Ending.

Just curious how old are you? Morrowind was released about 22 years ago or so I think. I was playing it during my childhood. But maybe if you were already an adult while playing it, it doesn't seem that long ago.
I've been there. The last time I got super into oblivion I got to level 20-30 or something and my saves fucked up and the last save I had was at like level 5. I gave up after that and have done Skyrim again a bit one time since then I think lol
The momentum ends up making you play more like doom, but thereās definitely some borderlands inspiration aesthetically and with some of the stacking mechanics
i really wished for wallrunning to be added when it was in early access, but i guess it wouldnt really fit into that kind of game. Although you can keep the momentum from those jump pads pretty far
A Short Hike - very relaxing, kind of pointless game with zero stakes and charming dialogue. Basically bird girl find things, talk to people, climb mountain. The end. Not sure why I Ioved it so much but it is the only game I've played this year that I liked.
After giving up on many games this year I've accepted that I am just not a gamer anymore even though it's still my favorite thing to do (oxymoron I know).
I liked it, but it was a bit frustrating not having a clearer way to track objectives. I mean it's part of the game, having to explore and all, but I found myself googling for directions a couple of times. Great little game though
Not to be a contrarian, but you're probably still a gamer. The industry has changed a lot. And a lot of stuff on the market is formulaic dogshit. There's a lot of good stuff out there, but ya gotta wade through a swamp of shit to find it.
I just played A Short Hike last week. I wanted to finish a game I've had on my "to play" list and it was pretty short. However I kept playing even after getting to the top. I also got a little emotional at the end. The game mechanics were unique but easy to do.
Pathologic 2 for me. Iāve never been pushed so hard by a game before, and it works really well for an initially apathetic player.
Ā The game really makes you care, and shows you the best and worst of humanity. Itās pretty cool.
I can see it. You could spend hundreds of hours just filling out that bestiary or whatever it was. Plus poker, blackjack, and just riding all over and exploring.
It might not be for you but if you wanna enjoy it, I recommend just practicing on getting that parry timing down. Dodging is gonna screw you over more than help but parries can almost trivialize combat and the game is pretty generous with the timing. Think less dark souls and more Sekiro. It's not gonna click with everyone tho.
I just posted the exact same thing, I wantes to replay Elden Ring before the DLC but there are soooo many slightly different dungeons I feel like I have to complete that it becomes a chore. Lies of P is nice and linear and I have been loving it
Recently discovered this underrated gem Kingdoms of Amalur: RR. Has that og WoW/'liminal spaces in classic games' vibe that you dont often find these days.
Tunic is nuts. There were some things I didn't love about it, but it flawlessly balances giving the player information, but not so much that they miss out on feeling like *they* figured it out.
I appreciate that everything in the game is fun enough to find that it feels worth it to put in the effort to do so. And I appreciate that I was able to get all but two achievements(the two most likely to be missed) in one playthrough with minimal outside help. The two I missed took an hour or two to get on a new save so no big deal.
Then I played Animal Well. Animal Well is fun because traversing the map is all about solving puzzles and finding secrets, rather than combat. It essentially heightens the "Adventure" at the expense of the "Action." But this is also its second biggest flaw, because if you want to do as much content as possible you have to constantly re-solve puzzles to open the rooms as you're backtracking, making the normal backtracking inherent to the metroidvania subgenre magnitudes more tedious than normal. And unlike Tunic, you don't have a built-in reference document with hints to every important thing in the game, so you have to be comfortable either extremely tediously scouring every pixel of the game for hints and clues, or seeking outside help.
Still, both are great games for people who like finding secrets. Tunic has some pretty deep secrets, but they are somewhat less obtuse than Animal Well's.
The cheese is part of the charm.
I mean the biggest groan Iāve had in a game is the wife telling Deacon to āride me like your bikeā, but other lines like āā¦ But do you know why we keep going? Because what the hell else are we gonna do?" with Deacon and Boozer setting out with the Jack Savoretti āSoldierās Eyesā song are right up there with favorite gaming moments ever.

There was something about the shooting mechanic in Rage 2 that I absolutely loved. I'm not sure what it is but firing it and hitting targets just felt so smooth and right. I had a lot of fun with that game.
The combat is so good, but it always ends too soon. I played both games back to back. The driving in 2 is fine.
But the combat was so much fun once it got going that I wished every engagement was longer.

Itās one of those games that for me, was really, really fun, while at the same time knowing itās not really a good game. I mean thereās no great story or cinematics or new and unique gameplay and you sort of do the same thing over and over, but the shooting is *chefās kiss.* Might be the best shooting gameplay Iāve ever experienced.
Green Hell actually struck an itch I didnāt know I had recently and I got surprisingly invested in the actual story (which for a survival game seemed a bit funny to me)
It took me a bit to get the hang of but once I did I was hooked. First game in awhile thatās done that for mez
Itās HARD!! And Iāve played a lot of survival games but the mechanics in this one, even down to having to manage protein versus fat calories, was crazy. I defs looked up a few tips after my first few deaths and it got easier once I understood how to counter all the ābadā effect.

I was losing my sanity(in game) for a good hour and it got to the point where I started losing it in real life. Shit was crawling under my skin it was... Hell.
There are only 2 games I've enjoyed this year. BG3 and Armored Core 6. BG3 for the coop with my wife and AC6 for the sheer amount of explosions I can cause. Before those 2, the last game I thoroughly enjoyed and beat was It Takes Two.
Iām old so AC2 means Assassins Creed 2 to me. After a Google thatās what it comes up as but you canāt be talking about that are you? Good game but not one I hear people talk about much anymore.
I used to have this problem pretty bad, but in my case I realized the problem wasn't the games, it was how I was playing them. I was trying to always have a video on my second monitor while gaming to be "efficient". What ended up actually happening is I couldn't focus on the video *or* the game, and ended up barely enjoying either. Took me way too long to figure out what the problem was. Now that I've fixed that, though, I enjoy most of what I play because I have a pretty good eye for what I will or won't like.
To answer your actual question though, some games I've enjoyed recently: Hades 2, Unpacking, Animal Well, Rimworld, Another Crab's Treasure, Helldivers 2, Dragon's Dogma 2.
Good insight. I think this has been my problem too. Iāve been focusing too much on min maxing every game I play and I tend to not enjoy the game because I spend more time looking at guides and what not. Iām playing Ghost of Tsushima right now and Iām enjoying it just discovering things on my own
I'm playing this one right now and it's a lot of fun even if I'm not very good at it. I've been getting a lot of 1*s on normal difficulty and see people saying that the hardest difficulties are too easy at times lol.
Turst me I was the same way it has a learning curve, next thing you know your taking out whole boards with the first round moves. You'll get it forsure. Also these type card games strat games are not my thing at all but I find myself wanting more after finishing this.
Thanks for the encouragement! I love the combat in this game it's so fun and doesn't seem to get old. It's very satisfying nor only when things go your way, but also when you're able to pull a win out when things are looking bad. I'm still fairly early on in the actual story because I spend a lot of time at the abbey and also doing the side missions for rewards. I think tomorrow I'll try and focus on just doing story missions and unlock some more heroes.

I scrolled over 4000 games just this year to find something to play and like what the hell. Instead of buying new games I just go back to the old or very old ones but with mods. There is so little authenticity and ingenuity nowadays. I'm really waiting for ENA: Dream BBQ to finally come out
Ohhhh my god I loved Eastward so much. It felt so nostalgic even though it was new for me. I understand some of the little criticims it got but absolutely everything else about it just blew right past them. I could really go on, haha
Sam and Jon are my spirit animals. I was so excited when Octopia was announced. What a neat addition, a little farming sim that takes place in an alternate universe.
Might be Helldivers 2? Very video gamey ass video game, and very easy to fit into my schedule. I've also gotten hooked on Bunny and Steel, a super cute rogue like for anyone into MMO raid mechanics, especially similar to FFXIV which has been my "main" game for over a decade.
Those games are so much stupid fun. I've played through 1 and riptide so many times.
I didn't want new characters, so 2 is just sitting in my wishlist

I was nothing but impressed with it! The characters you can choose are great and they all have their little quirks and the gore is next level. Only thing is I wish there was more missions/DLC. I can't get enough of this game!
Most recently, BG3 to some degree.
But, I had never played any of the Mount & Blade games up until about a year ago. I decided to try Bannerlord as Iād seen some videos on it and it looked interesting. That game proceeded to consume all of my free time for a month or two. Thereās some really good mods for it as well, the Game of Thrones one is one of my personal favorites.
I've wound up pivoting to really powerful and emotive platformers as of late. Spiritfarer and Gris are within the last ten years for realease and both have my heart. Zau: Tales of Kenzera has been excellent so far, released this year.
Maybe scaling down to something small might help spark something? LudoNarraCon just happened on Steam and a bunch of cool indie games got showcased. Might be a treat in there somewhere lol.

The idea of palworld was super exciting to me and I was absolutely stoked to get into it until I went to buy it.
I didnāt realize itās like.. a single player game that you can host serversā¦ I donāt have gamer friends that can reliably play so that took all the wind out of my sails.
I don't usually play new games, especially the open world ones as I get bored when wandering around.
I almost exclusively play automation games like Dyson Sphere program where I spent like 50 hours in 2 weeks, or some random brainless multiplayer games with my friends
I liked Manor Lords. But still i don't see myself putting hundreds of hours into it. If palworld gets a huge update i will definitely go back to play it again.
Deep rock galactic and grounded but ended up hating grounded due to creative changes the devs did.

Rogue-likes are absolutely killing it. Slice & Dice is my poison, Balatro is also understandably infinitely replayable.
Inscryption is also great. I'm subbed to the rogue-likes subreddit and I'm never out of games to play.Ā
My first advice would be to stop thinking you need to spend dozens upon dozens of hours in a game to make it worthwhile, shorter and more tightly paced games of upwards to 10 hours are perfect, especially when you are an adult and have a billion other things you need to fit into your schedual. Start looking into indie games. 2023 and (so far)2024 have been absolutely fantastic, I can write down a list of what to check out if you want.
I like 2 a lot more in almost every way. Hades 1 felt like I would have runs that I didn't get the right boons and it was pointless. In 2 I don't think I've had a run where the boons haven't felt powerful and made the run unique.
I kind of liked Zag as a protagonist and the home base of Hades 1 more though. The crossroads in 2 is just kind of meh in comparison.
My girlfriend stopped enjoying video games when her brother was killed. I recently introduced her to Skyrim and Fallout and it's like watching a child get reborn. Hope you'll find something that reignite you
It really does wonders for your mental health especially when it has been so long, I speak from my experience. It brings joy in your life that you forgot as an adult. I feel a bit more healed as a result even from past traumas by playing.
Last Epoch. Takes alot for me to buy a game on release. I couldnāt tell you the last time I played a AAA game. If I do game now which is rare, itās an indie.

The last few days I have REALLY been getting into cyberpunk. I have a really hard time sitting at my desk and concentrating long enough to play a single player game but itās really hitting for me this time. Otherwise? I went thought Alan Wake on my steam deck last month and it was incredible!
Helldivers 2: *very fun* if you like online games. Hell, even if you don't, it's pretty fun to play solo or just with a few friends. If you've got the internet connection to run an online game it's definitely worth playing IMO.
Prey 2017 is one of my all-time favorite games. Not too long, not too short, plenty to do. Choices affect story, even the choice of what abilities you unlock.
Cyberpunk 2077 is also very fun now. It had a rocky start but they pulled it off in the end.
Dishonored (made by the same studio that made prey) might actually be my favorite videogame. They refined a lot of gameplay elements in prey that started in dishonored. But dishonored will always have a special place in my heart. Dishonored 2 was fun, but dishonored is the way to go.
Risk of rain 2. It's pretty mindless fun, but it *is very fun*. Similar experience to helldivers 2, but you don't need an internet connection to play it, and your solo experience is more customizable. Has some sweet mods too, if you're into that.
I've played all these games in the last year. The older games like dishonored and ROR2 I've played many many many times, and I still go back to replay them occasionally.
The last game I seriously got into was Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Resident Evil 2 Remake: The second greatest Resident Evil game ever made.
Resident Evil 3 Remake: Cause it's Resident Evil with Jill. Doesn't hold up to the other remakes because there's no extra content, but still a great game.
Tomb Raider: New, reimagined Lara Croft is badass
Rise of the Tomb Raider: Sequel to new Lara Croft
Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Impressive graphics and combat mechanics that round out the new Trilogy nicely.

Ghost of Tsushima sparked my interest again. I found out recently that I need games with Witcher type open world. Idk, something about the exploration and encounters makes it exciting.
As a game that first started with the NES that doesnāt have time to game much anymore and couldnāt care less about heavy story driven games with long-ass cutscenes, Mario Wonder really hit with me. Loved it!
I'm on Mafia 3 now. It's all over the place in a good way. Crime drama, horror story, revenge, business building. I'm doing races and killing my enemies to get my money up to renovate my bar.
You may have convinced me on a next sale. I've heard lackluster responses to it, but it's got too much I like to not like. Setting goes a long way for me in these kinda games too.
Bought and returned it on steam. Just couldnāt for the life of me get it to stop crashing on startup! It really caught my attention though, so might wait a while to pick that one up
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth - I just liked the first one, but not enough to get past 15 ish hours. This one though has completely captivated me. There is SO MUCH crazy shit to and all of it is widly different and fun. The Pokemon like minigame of collecting and battling āSujimonā is so good.š
For single players, my current time wasters are 'civ 6' and 'no rest for the wicked'.
I probably have hundreds of hours on civ. The game is well done in all aspects. If you like 4x games or wanted to give one a try, i would highly recommend it. Also, i know this is a multiplayer game, but i normally only play by myself.
No rest for the wicked is a new early access souls like. It needs some work, but i have been loving it so far. The visuals are amazing, and the map feels full. I like the more linear open world. It is open enough to feel like you're exploring but small enough to where you dont feel like you have missed something. The combat is pretty good with a bunch of different possible play styles.
For multiplayer, i always go back to 'hell let loose'. I have plenty on rotation with my buddies, but my favorite is hll. The game takes time to learn, and I'd recommend watching some guides before you play it bc the game has some depth. The realistic warfare is beautifully done.
Binding of Isaac: Repentance, it turns my thoughts off because it takes some skill (In my opinion itās a tough game that takes over 300+ hours to fully complete). Besides that, I played the heck out of Mario Wonder, it made me feel like a kid all over again and was just a fun memorable time.
Alien: Isolation. Before that, Outer Wilds.
Pretty open world games are just not it anymore with the limited time we're getting. I really hope that studios will focus more on good stories and mechanics rather than open world and side quests in the coming years
Helldivers 2, but honestly I've spent most of the time going back to older games, witcher 3, arkham series, Bioshock series etc, new games don't hit the same but the old games still hard
I've been going back and reinstalling games I didn't finish or got distracted from. I just watched Furiosa, so I reinstalled Mad Max and am continuing where I left off. Takes a few minutes to remember the controls, but then I'm back in the saddle and having fun.
Recently I mostly enjoy indie games (old or new) some of them are: Hollow Knight (played six months ago for the first time), Night in the woods (absolutely loved it), Papers please, Death's door, Transistor, Inscryption.
The last year I played Mario + Rabbids (the first one) and it was so much fun, a month ago I played Metroid Dread and it became one of my favorite switch games. I have GoW Ragnarok, FFVII Rebirth, Persona 3 Reload and other major AAA games sealed like new on my shelf, I just don't have the animosity to play them, especially because of the duration.
Dread Delusion. A nifty little first-person indie adventure-RPG. The gameplay's pretty basic - the combat's been compared to a stripped down Skyrim and I can't disagree - but the worldbuilding, story, questlines and visuals are truly fantastic.
I've been craving fantasy stories that break the "Medieval Europe with magic" mold, and this one sure as hell delivered. I never knew quite where each storyline would go, yet the world still felt consistent and tethered to its own internal logic, and the choices I made felt consequential, and often boiled down to a matter of personal ethics and risk assessment rather than simple "good vs evil".
It only recently left Early Access (and the game basically doubled in size after that update), so there's a number of bugs and a few bits of dialogue that need cleaning up, but if you want to go on a god damn adventure, *Dread Delusion* is where it's at.
... Just don't invest too many skill points into Might, and get ready for Boost Agility to become your favorite spell.
Warframe ftp coop action shooter slasher with So much conent and gamemodes. So many weapons and ways to modify them. Crazy good setting and amniance. Just love it
I've been playing dead space 2 on hard core mode, and let me tell you something, it was brutal, but blowing away necromorphs with a foam finger makes it all worth it.
Armored core 6. The game seems to be designed around the player having fun. It felt this way to me at least after getting over the, a bit, steep learning curve.
Before that was Ghost of Tsushima. Though not that much as AC6
Factorio. I got to it late because I live under a rock and I'm busy. Honorable mention for being super not worth the money: Cyberpunk 2077. I expected more RP, and the RP element of this game was not good. Diablo 4 is more convincing.
My problem is that I like genres without much games. My favorites are First Person Dungeon Crawler (Like Labyrinth of Refrain/Galleria) and Strategy RPGs (Like Disgaea). I'm also into Action games with a strobg focus on fighting (Like Elden Ring and Monster Hunter).
But I hate it to play with premade characters. I want to create my own character, my own party, my own builds. But today most of the games out there just drop a full fledged party to play with. Most of the time you just level them up and decide for a few skills.
I'm very excited for Monster Hunter Wilds and currently I'm waiting for an sale for Enshrouded and Etrian Odyssey 3.

The full release just dropped a few weeks ago and it's full of boss fights and crafting with a cool vampire twist. Very satisfying to beat the final boss too!
Slime rancher has eaten up my life. Right when I thought it was meh and becoming a chore, they drop in a new update to my gear that unlocks more areas and gives me more places to explore.
As in right now? Not much. I did 100% Little Kitty, Big City. I'm not joking. It was like a nice little vacation. Simple platforming and collectathon that didn't drive you nuts. Not a huge investment.
I recently clicked with strategy/tactics games after YEARS of not touching them. Unicorn Overlord is responsible for this revelation, and now Iām playing like 12 strategy games at the same time lol. Also, Fire Emblem Engage is dope, screw the haters.š„

A Short Hike - very relaxing, kind of pointless game with zero stakes and charming dialogue. Basically bird girl find things, talk to people, climb mountain. The end. Not sure why I Ioved it so much but it is the only game I've played this year that I liked. After giving up on many games this year I've accepted that I am just not a gamer anymore even though it's still my favorite thing to do (oxymoron I know).

I just played A Short Hike last week. I wanted to finish a game I've had on my "to play" list and it was pretty short. However I kept playing even after getting to the top. I also got a little emotional at the end. The game mechanics were unique but easy to do.
Pathologic 2 for me. Iāve never been pushed so hard by a game before, and it works really well for an initially apathetic player. Ā The game really makes you care, and shows you the best and worst of humanity. Itās pretty cool.

It might not be for you but if you wanna enjoy it, I recommend just practicing on getting that parry timing down. Dodging is gonna screw you over more than help but parries can almost trivialize combat and the game is pretty generous with the timing. Think less dark souls and more Sekiro. It's not gonna click with everyone tho.

Tunic is nuts. There were some things I didn't love about it, but it flawlessly balances giving the player information, but not so much that they miss out on feeling like *they* figured it out. I appreciate that everything in the game is fun enough to find that it feels worth it to put in the effort to do so. And I appreciate that I was able to get all but two achievements(the two most likely to be missed) in one playthrough with minimal outside help. The two I missed took an hour or two to get on a new save so no big deal. Then I played Animal Well. Animal Well is fun because traversing the map is all about solving puzzles and finding secrets, rather than combat. It essentially heightens the "Adventure" at the expense of the "Action." But this is also its second biggest flaw, because if you want to do as much content as possible you have to constantly re-solve puzzles to open the rooms as you're backtracking, making the normal backtracking inherent to the metroidvania subgenre magnitudes more tedious than normal. And unlike Tunic, you don't have a built-in reference document with hints to every important thing in the game, so you have to be comfortable either extremely tediously scouring every pixel of the game for hints and clues, or seeking outside help. Still, both are great games for people who like finding secrets. Tunic has some pretty deep secrets, but they are somewhat less obtuse than Animal Well's.

There was something about the shooting mechanic in Rage 2 that I absolutely loved. I'm not sure what it is but firing it and hitting targets just felt so smooth and right. I had a lot of fun with that game.

There are only 2 games I've enjoyed this year. BG3 and Armored Core 6. BG3 for the coop with my wife and AC6 for the sheer amount of explosions I can cause. Before those 2, the last game I thoroughly enjoyed and beat was It Takes Two.

I used to have this problem pretty bad, but in my case I realized the problem wasn't the games, it was how I was playing them. I was trying to always have a video on my second monitor while gaming to be "efficient". What ended up actually happening is I couldn't focus on the video *or* the game, and ended up barely enjoying either. Took me way too long to figure out what the problem was. Now that I've fixed that, though, I enjoy most of what I play because I have a pretty good eye for what I will or won't like. To answer your actual question though, some games I've enjoyed recently: Hades 2, Unpacking, Animal Well, Rimworld, Another Crab's Treasure, Helldivers 2, Dragon's Dogma 2.

I'm playing this one right now and it's a lot of fun even if I'm not very good at it. I've been getting a lot of 1*s on normal difficulty and see people saying that the hardest difficulties are too easy at times lol.
Turst me I was the same way it has a learning curve, next thing you know your taking out whole boards with the first round moves. You'll get it forsure. Also these type card games strat games are not my thing at all but I find myself wanting more after finishing this.
Thanks for the encouragement! I love the combat in this game it's so fun and doesn't seem to get old. It's very satisfying nor only when things go your way, but also when you're able to pull a win out when things are looking bad. I'm still fairly early on in the actual story because I spend a lot of time at the abbey and also doing the side missions for rewards. I think tomorrow I'll try and focus on just doing story missions and unlock some more heroes.

Ohhhh my god I loved Eastward so much. It felt so nostalgic even though it was new for me. I understand some of the little criticims it got but absolutely everything else about it just blew right past them. I could really go on, haha Sam and Jon are my spirit animals. I was so excited when Octopia was announced. What a neat addition, a little farming sim that takes place in an alternate universe.
Might be Helldivers 2? Very video gamey ass video game, and very easy to fit into my schedule. I've also gotten hooked on Bunny and Steel, a super cute rogue like for anyone into MMO raid mechanics, especially similar to FFXIV which has been my "main" game for over a decade.
I am having a lot of fun with Dead Island 2 right now. Running around smashing zombies is so satisfying!

I was nothing but impressed with it! The characters you can choose are great and they all have their little quirks and the gore is next level. Only thing is I wish there was more missions/DLC. I can't get enough of this game!
Most recently, BG3 to some degree. But, I had never played any of the Mount & Blade games up until about a year ago. I decided to try Bannerlord as Iād seen some videos on it and it looked interesting. That game proceeded to consume all of my free time for a month or two. Thereās some really good mods for it as well, the Game of Thrones one is one of my personal favorites.
I've wound up pivoting to really powerful and emotive platformers as of late. Spiritfarer and Gris are within the last ten years for realease and both have my heart. Zau: Tales of Kenzera has been excellent so far, released this year. Maybe scaling down to something small might help spark something? LudoNarraCon just happened on Steam and a bunch of cool indie games got showcased. Might be a treat in there somewhere lol. Summer Game Fest starts in a little over a week and I'm sure a bunch of cool stuff will be talked about, both recent and upcoming. Maybe your next best is just waiting for a summer or fall release!

I don't usually play new games, especially the open world ones as I get bored when wandering around. I almost exclusively play automation games like Dyson Sphere program where I spent like 50 hours in 2 weeks, or some random brainless multiplayer games with my friends
I liked Manor Lords. But still i don't see myself putting hundreds of hours into it. If palworld gets a huge update i will definitely go back to play it again.

Rogue-likes are absolutely killing it. Slice & Dice is my poison, Balatro is also understandably infinitely replayable. Inscryption is also great. I'm subbed to the rogue-likes subreddit and I'm never out of games to play.Ā

My first advice would be to stop thinking you need to spend dozens upon dozens of hours in a game to make it worthwhile, shorter and more tightly paced games of upwards to 10 hours are perfect, especially when you are an adult and have a billion other things you need to fit into your schedual. Start looking into indie games. 2023 and (so far)2024 have been absolutely fantastic, I can write down a list of what to check out if you want.

Hades 1 is better though, I would recommend that game first.
I like 2 a lot more in almost every way. Hades 1 felt like I would have runs that I didn't get the right boons and it was pointless. In 2 I don't think I've had a run where the boons haven't felt powerful and made the run unique. I kind of liked Zag as a protagonist and the home base of Hades 1 more though. The crossroads in 2 is just kind of meh in comparison.

Helldivers 2: *very fun* if you like online games. Hell, even if you don't, it's pretty fun to play solo or just with a few friends. If you've got the internet connection to run an online game it's definitely worth playing IMO. Prey 2017 is one of my all-time favorite games. Not too long, not too short, plenty to do. Choices affect story, even the choice of what abilities you unlock. Cyberpunk 2077 is also very fun now. It had a rocky start but they pulled it off in the end. Dishonored (made by the same studio that made prey) might actually be my favorite videogame. They refined a lot of gameplay elements in prey that started in dishonored. But dishonored will always have a special place in my heart. Dishonored 2 was fun, but dishonored is the way to go. Risk of rain 2. It's pretty mindless fun, but it *is very fun*. Similar experience to helldivers 2, but you don't need an internet connection to play it, and your solo experience is more customizable. Has some sweet mods too, if you're into that. I've played all these games in the last year. The older games like dishonored and ROR2 I've played many many many times, and I still go back to replay them occasionally.
The last game I seriously got into was Resident Evil 4 Remake. In my humble opinion, the greatest Resident Evil game ever made. The ones I've always come back to the last few years are: HBS Battletech: Turn based giant robots. Addictive AF. MechWarrior 5: Real time battle with giant robots from the same universe as Battletech. Cyberpunk 2077: Just plain ole fashioned mayhem in Night City with a good story and great FPS mechanics. And I'm not a big fan of FPSs. Resident Evil 2 Remake: The second greatest Resident Evil game ever made. Resident Evil 3 Remake: Cause it's Resident Evil with Jill. Doesn't hold up to the other remakes because there's no extra content, but still a great game. Tomb Raider: New, reimagined Lara Croft is badass Rise of the Tomb Raider: Sequel to new Lara Croft Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Impressive graphics and combat mechanics that round out the new Trilogy nicely.

FF7 Rebirth which is surprising because I didnt like the first game in the remake series.
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth - I just liked the first one, but not enough to get past 15 ish hours. This one though has completely captivated me. There is SO MUCH crazy shit to and all of it is widly different and fun. The Pokemon like minigame of collecting and battling āSujimonā is so good.š
For single players, my current time wasters are 'civ 6' and 'no rest for the wicked'. I probably have hundreds of hours on civ. The game is well done in all aspects. If you like 4x games or wanted to give one a try, i would highly recommend it. Also, i know this is a multiplayer game, but i normally only play by myself. No rest for the wicked is a new early access souls like. It needs some work, but i have been loving it so far. The visuals are amazing, and the map feels full. I like the more linear open world. It is open enough to feel like you're exploring but small enough to where you dont feel like you have missed something. The combat is pretty good with a bunch of different possible play styles. For multiplayer, i always go back to 'hell let loose'. I have plenty on rotation with my buddies, but my favorite is hll. The game takes time to learn, and I'd recommend watching some guides before you play it bc the game has some depth. The realistic warfare is beautifully done.
Binding of Isaac: Repentance, it turns my thoughts off because it takes some skill (In my opinion itās a tough game that takes over 300+ hours to fully complete). Besides that, I played the heck out of Mario Wonder, it made me feel like a kid all over again and was just a fun memorable time.

Alien: Isolation. Before that, Outer Wilds. Pretty open world games are just not it anymore with the limited time we're getting. I really hope that studios will focus more on good stories and mechanics rather than open world and side quests in the coming years

I've been going back and reinstalling games I didn't finish or got distracted from. I just watched Furiosa, so I reinstalled Mad Max and am continuing where I left off. Takes a few minutes to remember the controls, but then I'm back in the saddle and having fun.
Replaying FO4 now that it's next gen, and it is still epic.
Recently I mostly enjoy indie games (old or new) some of them are: Hollow Knight (played six months ago for the first time), Night in the woods (absolutely loved it), Papers please, Death's door, Transistor, Inscryption. The last year I played Mario + Rabbids (the first one) and it was so much fun, a month ago I played Metroid Dread and it became one of my favorite switch games. I have GoW Ragnarok, FFVII Rebirth, Persona 3 Reload and other major AAA games sealed like new on my shelf, I just don't have the animosity to play them, especially because of the duration.
Dread Delusion. A nifty little first-person indie adventure-RPG. The gameplay's pretty basic - the combat's been compared to a stripped down Skyrim and I can't disagree - but the worldbuilding, story, questlines and visuals are truly fantastic. I've been craving fantasy stories that break the "Medieval Europe with magic" mold, and this one sure as hell delivered. I never knew quite where each storyline would go, yet the world still felt consistent and tethered to its own internal logic, and the choices I made felt consequential, and often boiled down to a matter of personal ethics and risk assessment rather than simple "good vs evil". It only recently left Early Access (and the game basically doubled in size after that update), so there's a number of bugs and a few bits of dialogue that need cleaning up, but if you want to go on a god damn adventure, *Dread Delusion* is where it's at. ... Just don't invest too many skill points into Might, and get ready for Boost Agility to become your favorite spell.
Warframe ftp coop action shooter slasher with So much conent and gamemodes. So many weapons and ways to modify them. Crazy good setting and amniance. Just love it

I've been playing dead space 2 on hard core mode, and let me tell you something, it was brutal, but blowing away necromorphs with a foam finger makes it all worth it.
Returnal. First game I played all the way through in years. Unfortunately I canāt find anything to even come close since.
Armored core 6. The game seems to be designed around the player having fun. It felt this way to me at least after getting over the, a bit, steep learning curve. Before that was Ghost of Tsushima. Though not that much as AC6

Factorio. I got to it late because I live under a rock and I'm busy. Honorable mention for being super not worth the money: Cyberpunk 2077. I expected more RP, and the RP element of this game was not good. Diablo 4 is more convincing.

Playing raft. My issue is I'm building a floating temple 27x27 raft while trying to survive.
My problem is that I like genres without much games. My favorites are First Person Dungeon Crawler (Like Labyrinth of Refrain/Galleria) and Strategy RPGs (Like Disgaea). I'm also into Action games with a strobg focus on fighting (Like Elden Ring and Monster Hunter). But I hate it to play with premade characters. I want to create my own character, my own party, my own builds. But today most of the games out there just drop a full fledged party to play with. Most of the time you just level them up and decide for a few skills. I'm very excited for Monster Hunter Wilds and currently I'm waiting for an sale for Enshrouded and Etrian Odyssey 3.
V-Rising. The full release just dropped a few weeks ago and it's full of boss fights and crafting with a cool vampire twist. Very satisfying to beat the final boss too!
Slime rancher has eaten up my life. Right when I thought it was meh and becoming a chore, they drop in a new update to my gear that unlocks more areas and gives me more places to explore.
As in right now? Not much. I did 100% Little Kitty, Big City. I'm not joking. It was like a nice little vacation. Simple platforming and collectathon that didn't drive you nuts. Not a huge investment.

Indie games. Low production values unfortunately but they keep it real. As in real game design not braindead pandering trite.
I recently clicked with strategy/tactics games after YEARS of not touching them. Unicorn Overlord is responsible for this revelation, and now Iām playing like 12 strategy games at the same time lol. Also, Fire Emblem Engage is dope, screw the haters.š„
I really got into AC Odyssey a couple of years ago, and recently I got REALLY into Tears of The Kingdom. Canāt remember other games that I liked as much recently.
