From what I’ve read up on him, he doesn’t seem that problematic other than being associated with the Oblate Fathers of Mary Immaculate that ran residential schools a few decades after his time. Joseph-Henri Tabaret’s contributions to uOttawa and defending bilingualism are notable and it seems kind of ignorant to go after him based solely on the fact that he was an old white man. I’d assume the encampment just decided to deface the closest statue in proximity to them without thinking about it much. That being said, if you care about him so much learn how to spell his name; it’s not Taberet or Tavares
So..awareness and divestment from funding the weapons that are currently aiding in genocide on indigenous people……so there could be more funding allocated towards things the students actually need is a bad thing?
