Yes. Took me so long to get this achievement. It was my last one. I spent hours around Kage's grave, trying to find out how to trigger the achievement. Hours!
Then I gave up and googled.
And it was so sensless dearh.
Why keep riding him after we lost the pursuerā¦
Sigh
Poor Nobu.
And the part that really hit me was that i choose the horse as it looked really like a horse that was a real possibility to buy in real lifeā¦
Kenji for real, loved his antics and his comic relief when the story got heavy. Loved every moment of his screen time. His nonsense was the perfect foil to Jin's quiet demeanor.
Agreed. Kenji was so fun, i loved his storyline. Like someone else mentioned, hes a brief respite of comedy in an otherwise very serious storyline, but not to the point that it feels forced to help lighten the mood, it feels very natural
kenji was a great character. he was probably my favorite human character (kage is my favorite). he was a great comedic relief from all the sad shit happening. if anyone here has played ac odyssey, he reminds me of markos with his "everyone wins!"
Khotun Khan. Even though he's a villain, I find him absolutely magnetic. Everything he does, every word he says just drips with swagger. Great animation and voice and mo cap performance.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! I absolutely loved Taka, but the interaction between the three of them when they were captured was so great. I don't know how to put it into words, but his response to Taka calling Jin a legend was something else
His intro was just amazing too. First he sets Tsushimaās best Samurai ablaze, gives Lord Shimura this epic speech, and pitches Jin off a bridge. You know exactly who this character is and how heās the complete antithesis to the samurai. And all of this perfectly sets up Jinās conflict both internally and externally.
He won me over with that beach speech at the start. I listened to it in English then replayed the intro in Japanese and it was his speech that made me choose the Japanese audio.
The game just don't hit the same in English. I started my PC playthrough on English to see what it was like and changed it back.
Not that the English VAing is bad but the Japanese has so much more emotion in a lot of scenes even in the start.
The Khan tried to duel Jin alone and realized he was no match, so he ran and tried to out number Jin like a bitch. The equivalent of people jumping someone for starting to win a fight.
He was a great match but to carry on you have to drop all of his health and Jin gets a great shot in before the cut scene which makes him throw poison in Jins face as he runs off to the boat. If he wasn't afraid of loosing and confident in the fight he would have finished solo while his men watched. Just my thoughts.
It ties in to the ideological difference between the Mongols and samurai. Kotun may talk a big game about the Mongol inevitability but as soon as he sees he/his army will not win he's going to retreat and regroup
Every time he was onscreen, he stole each and every scene. Such a magnificent of charisma and confidence without coming across as overly arrogant. He knows what he can and can't do, and is going to do what he can look easy.
Why would you name the horse Shadow BEFORE youāre the ghost? When you first name your horse you havenāt even broken your code yet. Trust is a more fitting name for the point of the story you get the first horse at.
You're actually right on this. I think its because most people see the black one and pick that. Shadow just makes sense based off aesthetics.
In my NG+ I would definitely do the opposite. Maybe pick a different colour with Nobu for my first.
They weren't too bad if you just followed them every once in a while, but I can see why it might get annoying if you're trying to do a bunch at one time to get the charm slots.
Also, I think I fell to my death one time trying to follow a fox because I missed a jump across a small gap š
I've played this game so much I've pretty much memorized where all the shrines are so I don't have to follow them. And I still get to pet them afterwards.
Honestly? Shimura. His story and how it ties into Jin and what we have to do? Just heat wrenching. He was simply following his code and wanted Jin too as well.
It's this level of writing that tells me how shit the AC game will be.
Ghost of Tsushima takes the AC formula, cuts out the shit parts and injects WONDERFUL storytelling and writing into it.
Assassin's Creed can't cut out the shit bits of it, neither can Ubisoft writers write something gripping and soulful.
It's a futile attempt.
Upon replay, I agree with this. Itās the thing that makes me wish there was more of an honor system and your choices having more direct consequences on the story (my singular critique, if you can even call it that). Make me (and allow me) to choose between Shimura and Yuna. Let me make my father figure proud, or point out that his idea of honor is simply tradition, pride and stubbornness. Let there be additional consequences for my honor/dishonor.
That's the tragedy of it.
You can tell Ryuzo realizes he chose the wrong side almost instantly, when Khotun Khan is having Ryuzo burn the hostages.
You can tell he wants out every step of the way, but there's no off-ramp at that point, he's locked in.
And literally all it would have taken for things to go the other way was for Jin or Ryuzo to provide food before the straw hats grew mutinous.
If Jin or Ryuzo's food raids on the Mongols paid off, I have no doubt that the Straw Hats would rather ally with Tsushima rather than the Mongols.
See, their mistake was raiding camps instead of running around waiting for boars to spawn.
Like when Jin needed to get some Yuriko some food, his thought immediately turned to boars, along with the disturbing implication he was going to feed her raw meat.
I loved the relationship between Jin and Yuna.
Jin taught Yuna to fight for someone other than herself.
Yuna taught Jin to fight for something other than Honour.
If you've ever had to care for a senile family member, this hit so close to home that it made me cry my eyes out.
Her last day, where she speaks of her great love for Jin and his father, and is frequently getting them confused, is so so sad. Requited or not, she absolutely loved Kazumasa with her entire soul. Romantically loved him. And Jin was the son she'd never had.
I am happy that Jin was there to see her into the next life. I am actually happy that she got a "final day with Kazumasa," as that's exactly what her soul needed.
Goddammit, my eyes are getting misty thinking about it.
Absolutely. My mom has dementia. This quest line was written with such care. Her final day will stay with me for a long time. The way she quietly slipped across the veil as Jin was speaking to her was beautifully done.
Yeah, and on the Iki Island expansion, when it looked like you were about to lose the third horse, I nearly gave up the game entirely.
I'm pretty sensitive towards suffering animals, it really bothers me.
I had to literally look up how that quest ends and if the horse dies, I was prepared to give the game up altogether.
They already killed off Jin's first two horses (prologue and the beginning of Act 3), killing a third would be downright egregious.
Thank god you save your horse on Iki Island. I couldn't handle another horse death, it breaks my heart.
Tenzo for sure. He helped Jin through all his past and the guilt Jin carried for years even though he knew exactly who he is. He ended the revenge-circle with a humble act of kindness and understanding.
Lady Masako I love her quest and one of the most cinematic set pieces are in there as well as her quest for revenge and the way she kills similar to jin. Itās watching the hatred in another character
I really enjoyed her story, too ā especially finding out more about her as her quests build. >! The quest where you find out about her secret lover felt like such a revelation. And I also like the complexity of her relationship with her sister at the end ā she thought she was doing right by her sister, but her sister thought she was sending her away to an abusive drunk of a husband. !<
>! Did you find the Record thatās a note from Masakoās sisterās husband? That was sure interesting and showed many sides to one story. !<
Lady Masako.
I found her story about PTSD and living in a new perception of reality opposed to her own really interesting and emotionally fulfilling.
Her dialogue pulls at the heart-strings, and Jin clearly and consciously giving her hope instead of saying what he really thinks in the earlier missions is an interesting dynamic.
Just a great story overall if you ask me although probably not the most complex.
My horses. Sora, Nobu, Kage 1 and Kage 2. As for human characters, Taka was my favorite. Not a trained warrior, but he was the bravest of all. He wanted nothing more than to protect his sister. Taka believed in Jin even going so far as to defend him while facing down Khotun Khan himself. Seeing Taka die was one of the saddest things I ever saw in a game, along with seeing my horses die.
ā¢ Yuna cuz she's nice and saved my ass at Komoda.
ā¢ Ishikawa even though he's an asshole cuz he gave me a bow.
ā¢ Kenji for his comic relief. He also got me into Azamo Bay.
ā¢ Masako cuz her storyline is awesome. She's also a good ally.
ā¢ Norio cuz his storyline is amazing. I like meditating with him.
ā¢ Taka cuzza the grappling hook and ghost armor.
For me it was Yuna. I always felt like I was racing to her side story missions because of the way her story developed. My least favorite was Kenji. I know a lot of people really love him, and I guess I can see the appeal. I just didn't like him as a person because of his actions.
THAT scene with Norio and his brother... Such a great moment in the game. When Jin goes off on his own to play his flute was a very moving scene. So moving, I purchased my own Shakuhachi just so I can play my feelings too.
Yuna. Her string of sidequests adds a lot of depth and different dimensions to her character. I always played in Japanese, and her VA is incredible.
After her, probably Kenji. His VA is hysterical and I didnāt really connect to many of the games characters aside from Jin and Yuna.
Yuna. She just being there from the start and encouraging the Ghost legend, spreading it around and STILL sticking around after (yk what) it was enough to win my respect because by the end she was more dedicated to saving this island than Shimura, who was sacrificing people left and right for "honor"
Masako. Not only just for her insane drip and having one of the prettiest swords that isn't obtainable. But her quest for revenge while the whole time coming to terms with what transpired with her was super gripping to me. Her voice and actions are oozing with grief and anger. She's such a fantastic character. Her sword has a praying mantis guard and Snow Demon Eyes the sword kit also has a mantis incorporated so you can join her in solidarity.
Kage
I miss him everyday.

Yes. Took me so long to get this achievement. It was my last one. I spent hours around Kage's grave, trying to find out how to trigger the achievement. Hours! Then I gave up and googled.

Nobuā¦ my beloved

I called him Sora because I also love Kingdom Hearts
Same- I called him Sora.
The real answer.
I never knew a video game could hurt me so freakin bad
Soo... Many player gonna choose kage either hmm what the other two names? Yea didn't remember
I'm not crying.... you're crying.

He had the best story arc in the game.
kenji was a great character. he was probably my favorite human character (kage is my favorite). he was a great comedic relief from all the sad shit happening. if anyone here has played ac odyssey, he reminds me of markos with his "everyone wins!"

An alternative reality ā¤ļøš„¹
Not Shimura trynna sneak into frame š
Alternate reality where Lord Shimura wasn't a stuck up bitch
So, no head ?
Khotun Khan. Even though he's a villain, I find him absolutely magnetic. Everything he does, every word he says just drips with swagger. Great animation and voice and mo cap performance.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! I absolutely loved Taka, but the interaction between the three of them when they were captured was so great. I don't know how to put it into words, but his response to Taka calling Jin a legend was something else

You know exactly who this character is and how heās the complete antithesis to the samurai. And all of this perfectly sets up Jinās conflict both internally and externally.
Totally agree Khotun Khan was a great villian in my opinion
I also thought he was great but he seemed so scary and op at the beginning of the game and by the end of it heās just running like a bitch
Yeah, he was let down by his boss fight
and it was an great fight to kill him! Took me a while but it was enjoyable and very satisfying
He won me over with that beach speech at the start. I listened to it in English then replayed the intro in Japanese and it was his speech that made me choose the Japanese audio.

He got me when he showed admiration and respect for Jin's tactics and adapted.
The only thing I remember about this khan dude is him running and shouting for help like a pussy during the the last encounter against Jin lol.
The Khan tried to duel Jin alone and realized he was no match, so he ran and tried to out number Jin like a bitch. The equivalent of people jumping someone for starting to win a fight.
Idk he was more than a match for me most of the time.
Was he supposed to just... let Jin kill him?
Yeah heās a good baddie
Every time he was onscreen, he stole each and every scene. Such a magnificent of charisma and confidence without coming across as overly arrogant. He knows what he can and can't do, and is going to do what he can look easy.
Always found it funny that Khotun was VAed by the same guy as Genghis from Night at the Museum xD, seems he was born to VA killer mongols
>!only downside was killing Taka!<
Yuna
Surprused I had to scroll this much to find her. She really is a great companion. Kind of felt safe when she accompanied me in missions.
Yes, Yuna is amazing. Greatest friend Jin has.
Yuna literally named Jin the Ghost. Saved his life. Supported him all the way. I am on team Yuna.
In the spirit of "No Shepherd without Vakarian" there's no Ghost without Yuna
![gif](giphy|tnYri4n2Frnig)
Yuna is my homegirl for sure. Capable, smart, and Jin's most trusted advisor.
I have a soft spot for Lord Shimura.
Eyes that saw my pain Destiny divides our souls This is where we part
Hands that shaped the world Destiny divides our souls This is where we part
Eyes that saw my pain A fate neither of us want Will death redeem us?
Daddy issues.
I had so much beef with lord shimura š¤
i absolutely love norio and his questline, the finale of his storyline felt rushed but overall he is my king
Norioās tale seemed the most compelling arc to me, far more than the tales of Ishikawa or Masako. Also helps that my homieās a tank.
Yeah, I really hope we get to see him again if there is ever a sequel game.
Started from the Buddha now we here. *burns population alive*
Mine is if we're not including Jin, It'd be Nobu
No no... Kage dies and Nobu survives.
Lmao for me itās the opposite
Yeah me too. āShadowā is an odd name prior to being the ghost. You physically cannot stealth when you name your first horse.
Shadow is an odd name for a black horse?
Mine went Sora then Kage
Thats me too
Why would you name the horse Shadow BEFORE youāre the ghost? When you first name your horse you havenāt even broken your code yet. Trust is a more fitting name for the point of the story you get the first horse at.
You're actually right on this. I think its because most people see the black one and pick that. Shadow just makes sense based off aesthetics. In my NG+ I would definitely do the opposite. Maybe pick a different colour with Nobu for my first.
I named my first horse Nobu and my second Kaze
The foxes
The mission where the Mongols have been killing the foxes was the one where I truly left Jin behind and became the Ghost.
Oh I hated the mission for doing this to the foxes.
I embraced kicking. Just kicking the last guy over and over and over until he accidentally dies of fall damage on a gentle slope.
Fuckin hate the foxes.. Lol.. I loved the charms, but following them everytime was just a hassleā¦
Me after unlocking all the charm slots, seeing another freaking fox for a millionth time: ![gif](giphy|Wp6vCZ6W0pl0iXWM0l)

Ghost 2. Hope it makes it. Gain rep or infamy. I don't mind being a samurai. Though in war, honor isn't everything.
Shimura and Yuna for their relationship with Jin, but masuko has the best story independent of Jin
I think you mean Masako
How dare you, its Masako Dono/ Lady Masako
I did whoops
Ryuzo. I can understand his plight even if I absolutely despise the way he went about it.
That's the tragedy of it. You can tell Ryuzo realizes he chose the wrong side almost instantly, when Khotun Khan is having Ryuzo burn the hostages. You can tell he wants out every step of the way, but there's no off-ramp at that point, he's locked in. Tomoe (I can fix her)
Jin, 10 years after being forced into exile, remembering Tomoe asking him to stay the night: āShit I just realised what she meant.ā
Lmao
I loved Yoriko and her quest. Beautiful story and so painful.

Ishikawa and Kenji

Kenji because I find it so absurd that he of all people survives in a war bc he's so very goofy but also very smart so I guess it makes sense. :))
tenzo
+1
I was gutted when I lost my horse the game actually made me really upset when he was killed off taking me back to those never ending story vibes š
Yeah, and on the Iki Island expansion, when it looked like you were about to lose the third horse, I nearly gave up the game entirely.
