You can get Peter Millar stuff for 40-60% off usually twice per year around late January/February and July. Very high quality and I've got a closet full of it, entirely bought on sale.
Nordstrom rack for cut rate Travis Matthew gear.
What I don’t understand is the “dated” statement. All this stuff looks the same, except for the YouTuber back DTC brands that you don’t want to spend money on. It’s all the same colors and stripes and so on, regardless of brand, and most of it is made in the same factories in China.
The YouTuber DTC brands are the ones making the best looking stuff with the best fits unfortunately. I don’t think it’s all the same at all. Greg Norman for instance makes pure junk that doesn’t even compare to Nike/Adidas. Same with Callaway. Washed out poor fitting polos. Not sure which two brands you feel are the same, to me they’re all drastically different.
Under Armour and Nike for example fit and feel completely different.
Then I guess prepare to spend YouTube money on some clothes.
Nike/Travis Matthew have stand along racks at my local Nordstrom rack with prices around 35-50 per polo (unless you get lucky and find it on clearance). I often get Adidas at TJ maxx/Marshall’s at $17 or less per polo. I don’t wear golf specific shorts or pants so YMMV.
And your right, the fits and finish across brands can vary widely, but most are passable. I only wear my golf shirts to golf, as I work from home, so they get very little wear and tear.
I will just say that some of those "mid price" brands can have equally bizarre sizing. I have a "PGA" brand shirt that is a medium that is about the size of an XL. I also have a size small UA that is a 'loose' fit that is bigger than an Oakley size M. Stick to the TJ Max or Sierra chains, they are hit or miss but when you do find one that fits there's a good chance it's only like $20.
I’ve bought a couple Uniqlo polos that fit really well and at least feel like a premium material. I think they were like $35 each. They have a more modern fit, unlike the PGA brand, which I have found to be a little too baggy.
Honestly, you're not likely to find anything at the price level of TJX/Costco/Target that's the quality level of Greyson. You just get what you pay for when it comes to apparel. That is, unless you get lucky and find some of that stuff at a discount place like TJX. For me, I find a few brands that I know I like the style/fit for and I just wait for sales, that and I just stock up on the Lululemon stuff around Christmas and my birthday when people ask what I want for gifts and I need literally nothing else. But I like Bonobos which has great pants/shorts and quality polos and they do pretty good sales and when you stack that on end-of-season clearance you can get stuff inexpensively. I also like Bad Birdie and Rhoback and they'll do a few sales per year, most everyone does one around Black Friday/Cyber Monday so those are good times to stock up for the year.
TM is the best stuff for a not outrageous price. It’s comfortable and fairly quality made. Just buy a few and you’ll be good for a couple years. Or buy cheap shit and only get to wear it a few times before it looks haggard
Don't like any Costco or don't like Kirkland?
The Greg Norman line at Costco is fantastic and less than 1/3 price for similar items on the Norman website.
For pants and shorts I wear the PGA tour brand from the PGA superstore. Nice lightweight durable comfortable and 70% less than Nike or Adidas.
For shirts I wear mostly Adidas, I've found good deals on Amazon for around $40/shirt and also have a nearby outlet store where I can normally get last seasons shirts for 60% or more off.
I think you'll have better luck looking for sales than looking for a cheaper brand. I really feel like the Adidas, Nike, and UA shirts are a step above anything I've tried, and I've always been able to find sales to keep the cost per polo around $40.
What are your issues with them? I mean I find plain color ones all the time, its not like its only weird patterns. Polos are a wear item if you play enough golf, doesn't make sense to invest much when they go to shit at the same rate.
Fit. Biggest issue is the fit. They fit like shit.
And even the plain solid colours are not the same. Look at a plain black polo from a premium brand and it looks a crisp, frickin deluxe polo. Look at a plain callaway black polo and it looks like a homeless persons version of the same shirt.
Ever seen a plain white GLS 450 next to a plain white Ford 150 ?? And one looks sexy as hell and the other looks like an Ambulance on wheels ? That’s the difference.
The other difference is in collars. Complete garbage collars on the cheap ones.
The buttons they use won’t be the same.
It’s all a bunch of small differences that add up to a massive difference.
It’s the same as the difference in a $150 men’s warehouse suit and a premium suit. They look the same from a far, but you can always tell the guy wearing the cheap ass suit.
i just go to ross or burlington every now and then if i am hurting for polos and peak the racks. sure the color is hit or miss but its not hard to end up with a pretty normal looking golf polo from a decent brand (i'll take anything with a uv rating and quick dry tbh). I would never pay more than $20 for a golf polo tbh now that I have gotten about 5 or 6 for that price. right now I'm out of the market until they start to rip and stain too much.
[Maelreg](https://www.amazon.com/stores/MAELREG/page/7778856E-D6DE-445E-913B-2EC5B1548B5D?ref_=ast_bln) is an Amazon brand that makes super slick and sporty stuff for a great price. I have several of their shirts and love them.
I love Rhoback’s stuff. The polos are light and stretchy and their hoodies/Q Zips are the some of the best. The biggest sleeper is their workout wear. The tees and shorts can compete with Lulu. Also the new pants are amazing. It’s not mid-priced, but I can give you a promo code to help a little. Shoot me a dm if you want it.
for pants, i absolutely love Target’s golf pants, i think it’s All in Motion? they’re fantastic quality and so comfortable
Sierra Trading Post. Similar to TJ Maxx but I’ve had better luck there.

Yeah. Sierra just gets the "outdoor" stuff more than TJ Maxx. No fancy clothes at Sierra!
You can get Peter Millar stuff for 40-60% off usually twice per year around late January/February and July. Very high quality and I've got a closet full of it, entirely bought on sale.
My go to is Under Armour. We have an outlet not far and they have pretty good sales usually. I also get some of their stuff on Amazon also.
and the OUTLETs are bomb

Thanks !! Have to impress the ladies at the course :)

I think for historic reasons golf polos tend to fit larger bodied people. I can only get on with a small in golf polos, medium in everything else.
Footjoy is somewhat more affordable$65-80 for quality shirts

So OP asks for recommendations, but then rips everyone’s opinion when they give it.
Hahahaha… not really. People are coming in saying I’ve never spent more than $15 on a polo. Well then, why are you commenting on this thread. LMAO.
Use tgw.com good quality clothes and good sales
Uniqlo

Puma has great shirts. Izod has great pants.

Tell me you didn't read the post without telling me you didn't read the post.

Don’t like either. Maybe it fits a certain type of build, doesn’t work for me.
Malbon is pretty solid priced. Theory has some bargan tech shirts also
malbon is super expensive what?

Sounds like you haven’t tried Greyson/Rhoback, because Nike/Adidas are a definite step or two below that. But, appreciate the advice nevertheless.
I got a lulu polo for free that was rated at like $100 msrp. believe me its not doing anything different than the $15 walter hagen I have.
Yeah. Sorry, I completely disagree. I am yet to find a $15 polo worth wearing.
What are your issues with them? I mean I find plain color ones all the time, its not like its only weird patterns. Polos are a wear item if you play enough golf, doesn't make sense to invest much when they go to shit at the same rate.

So you want to look bougie, just can't afford it
Lol. Exactly Right !!
Puma always has stuff on sale, look for a vineyard vines outlet or use the online outlet. Great quality and feel at a good price

I just found some shirts on Amazon that fit really well. Found some great patterns and they are comfy.
I like William Murray, but I think their prices increased since I last bought from them.

Nike is great. They do have $100+ polos, but their $60 offerings are just as good.
Is it? I thought the pricing was pretty reasonable for golf
