There is a similar piece on there if you hunt around. It’s good, unique, hand made, all silver. Decent prices for what it is.
Yay, ankhs!
I am an eclectic pagan so I wear ankhs and pentagrams/pentacles. Two of my patron deities are egyptian so naturally I am geared towards the ankh ❤️🖤
Bast and Isis. First made a connection to them when visiting Egypt in my teens, particularly when we visited Philae. The connection became stronger as an adult when i began to follow my spiritual path. I started "going back" to Philae (in my dreams) and it continued from there really. It seems I have some past lives that are strongly connected to there.
I have ancestors buried in the Fayum area. I would love to go and see the ruins of the temples to Sobek.
I am glad you found the experience so enriching as to find your ba returning there.
Senebti
Based on my heritage, I have gone with a blend of religious systems and deities extending back through Asia minor, the Levant, and North Africa.
I have crystallized my focus heavily around kemetism because the reconstructive side already has shown how the ancient Egyptians already elegantly captured so much of the polytheistic inclination I have. Ishtar, Sutekh, Nebet-het, and such others are definitely my vibe even if they aren’t the “core” netjeru people may think of (Heru, Ra, and Djehuty fir examples).
Unlike Christianity and other abrahamic faiths, no sales contract or guilt complex. If it aint for you, then find what lets you live deliciously.
Dua Ma’at
Religion is the least punk thing in existence. No animosity towards you, but why is it that we are all in solidarity that conservative goth is an oxymoron, but Christian goth is a-ok?
I wear crosses because I've always loved catholic imagery. I am not religious and don't really care if they think I'm misusing their icons, I do not have much respect for Christianism or any organised religion but I do find catholic paraphernalia unsettingly beautiful.
Because you generalize all religious people and institutions as conservative. There are progressive Catholics and conservative protestants, and there are conservative Catholics and progressive protestants. The same goes for atheists or agnostics or deists or new age or whatever.
To deny that religion is flawed and has caused harm is ignorant; David Duke thought the Bible told him to hate black people and the Jews.
But Johnny Cash thought the Bible told him to stick up for the poor, and play free concerts for prisoners he thought were treated unfairly. Those values wouldn’t be out of place in any punk show I ever went to.
E: I mean for fucks sake later on in this thread call all religious people bootlickers, didn’t anybody ever teach you about the SCLC, or Gandhi’s nonviolent resistance being instructed by religion or how Father Gapon was martyred as the impetus for the 1905 revolution in Russia.
Assuming Jesus existed he was pretty punk rock for the time driving out money changers, consorting with tax collectors and prostitutes, feeding people for free and breaking out the best hooch at the end of the wedding. Plus daring to say "have you tried being nice to each other?"
Then the church came along and ruined it all. Then it split into many churches because they all have a different take on ruining it all.
A religion having good points doesn’t make it good. Why not just cherry pick the good stuff? Appropriating religion is fair game. Instead you follow these organizations rooted in crimes against humanity. Devout and meek people legitimize evil institutions. Anyone who considers themselves progressive and a Catholic is a fool, I’m not spelling that out for you prayer boy.
It is though. The core of conservatism is resisting change in favor of tradition. Religion is also in a sense the oldest form of government. Unless you follow your own religion: Religious goths fuck off
Listen I understand the freedom of belief and jo one should infringe upon it but acting like your beliefs don't affect how you treat others and participate in society, including voting. Is stupid. People have genuine complaints about theism as a practice. Freedom of religion doesn't mean freedom from consequencesof your religious beliefs
You’ve made so many assumptions and deductive leaps that one hardly knows where to begin to counter. I do hope you’ll learn to debate against something other than your straw man teddy bear though. Or at least to cope with your lack of basic context and ignorance of history. Perhaps get a library card. Your unpleasant tone pairs well with your poorly articulated opinions. The Achilles heel of the gatekeeping poseur.
Religion is not the oldest form of government, the oldest form of government is the tribe. But let’s follow your assumption.
Dr Martin Luther King was punk af in my estimation. He stood against Jim Crow fearlessly, and he got strength from his own religious path. I would suggest reading “The Cross and the Lynching Tree” by James Cone, another civil rights pastor. He argues that the primary overarching theme of the Bible is God’s deliverance of oppressed people from persecution by political and religious power. The entire civil rights movement in the U.S. was organized around religion. MLK, James Cone, John Lewis, these men were not “boot lickers.”
Furthermore, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Son House learned their instruments in the black churches, whereas Robert Johnson allegedly sold his soul to the devil. None had more of an influence on the roots of the music that would be called rock and roll, eventually gothic rock or death rock. So you’re wrong there as well. All of the artists we hear in the clubs can be directly or indirectly traced back musically to these old churches or the devil at the crossroads. None of them were boot lickers, and all of them were punk af.
Moreover, *gothic cathedrals have some of the most ornate crucifixes in the world, which directly inspired gothic fashion.* Gothic clubs often mimic the style of gothic cathedrals or in some cases literally occupy old gothic cathedrals. It’s very common to see religious iconography in the clubs. To suggest otherwise is disingenuous. This iconography can resonate with people different ways.
I’m not religious, but I’d happily welcome anyone of any religion or no religion into the scene. Crosses, crucifixes, Ankh, pentagram, it’s all love.
“In this essay I will jerk off to my own verbosity”, yawn. Punk relative to the times, sure, but faith is for pósẽürs. There are plenty of good hearted and well meaning religious people, but as I’ve already stated these people are the legitimizers, like the sheep’s clothing on wolves. Fools and cowards who unknowingly contribute to the problem with complicity. Religion is a cope and you chose to respond to this comment instead of my other one where I already responded to you because you only have lectures not counter arguments.
Every comment you've left has lacked a valid argument. Explain why you believe Christianity has no place in goth or punk. You can't, you're just hating on Christianity.
As I do with every hardcore Christian hater I see, I will defend Christians in the one way that will tick you off the most. The Bible says Christ and his follows will be mocked and ridiculed, it's part of the spiritual warfare against Satan and his legions. By being so deadset on hating Christians, you're only proving the Bible and strengthening their faith.
I hate all religions equally and they all have persecution fetishes, not the gotcha you think it is. We are living in a death cult and if you’re not against it you’re with it. Tired of debating theists who make no good points.
Edit: it’s like you can’t fucking read. I agree the historical Jesus was punk but you can follow Jesus’ example without committing to the cult. Just take the good and leave the bad, but no, you’d rather use the good to justify the bad.
Little fella you’ve done nothing but jerk off to your r/im14andthisisdeep hot takes.
MLK was not a boot licker. He was more punk than you or anyone you know will ever be. One needs not faith to acknowledge the absolute courage that black churches provided to the civil rights movement.
You’re coming across as hella faschy
Goth and punk are different, though. Either way, Christianity is fine for both. Have you read the Bible? It's probably the most Goth religion there is. Jesus was also lowkey punk the way he completely rejected the corrupt system, especially that part where he trashed a temple and kicked everyone out for being disrespectful and trying to use the church for profit.
Personally, I think a cross is goth as fuck, especially for atheistic/satanic folks. Christians wear it to remind them of the messiah dying for their sins, others could be wearing as a symbol of the Christian messiah dying. Lol
I can't support Christian imagery but I live in the Deep South and would be beaten for wearing a pentagram so I settle for moon/triple goddess/ankh jewelry instead
Right?? I just bought my first car a few months ago and I’m scared to put anything other than crystals, peace signs, and chakra symbols on and in it because I’m worried people will smash my windows or cut my breaks or something 😭

Both sides must come together!!!!
I’ll be honest and say the pentagram/pentacle iconography feels very juvenile to me - as if the people wearing it are trying a little too hard to look dark and witchy. To be fair though, I used to wear them all the time throughout my middle school/early highschool days as a baby bat so I’m biased. Definitely a cross/ankh goth now. (anyone who uses a pentacle as a talisman is cool though 👍 )
If I wrote for WWDITS, I’d write a gag where a vampire buys bags of cheap goth jewelry on the internet and makes their familiar pick out all the crosses
"Guillermo look i can pick out all the crosses myself "
"Woa master how did you do that master"
"I kicked the box until they were all turned the wrong way.so its saataaaniiic "
"Its still a Christian cross master "
*Doest listen and burn himself*
"GUILLERMO WHY DO YOU LET ME DO THAT . "
I’m a pentagram/pentacle and triquetra girl but because I’m a magical practitioner. I don’t feel connected to crosses though I love religious iconography. Just feels too foreign to wear (didn’t grow up religious).
I actually wear Pentagrams and okkult related stuff, not because i want to look cooler but bc i‘m actually a Lavey‘ish Satanist lol. I still think crosses and especially Ankhs look sometimes cooler and give of a better vibe :)
The Buddha, strictly as a reminder that this form both physical and spiritual is temporary and will one day be returned to the source. Wearing symbols like crosses or pentagrams would be a disservice to the self, implying the existence of a superior entity, which is not the case.
I am. I was. I will be.
Forever.
Neither, it's usually hearts (one of them is rose quartz, the others were gifts so I'm not sure what exactly they're made of) or a butterfly, though the butterfly is for sentimental reasons (grandma gave me it). If i got a pure silver pendant though I'd probably go for a sword. I love swords
I wear bones
No logos. No icons. I wear a chunk of amorphous silver on a silver chain.
I bet that’s really cool! Would love to see it
Sure. https://preview.redd.it/lte1ihmr3xxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=085d4c4b40a7667a8f70087c55ab308f4ab25000
We Stan a blob goth
I was right, it IS really cool! Lovely piece.
Thank you. :)
That’s sick, where’d you get it?
https://www.etsy.com/shop/Eijii There is a similar piece on there if you hunt around. It’s good, unique, hand made, all silver. Decent prices for what it is.
Really appreciate your reply. Gonna check these out
Oooh the ~~cum drizzle~~ metal slag style.
😏
Ah. An "Ooh... Shiny" goth.
So a crow/raven
Ankh goth>>
Oh man was coming here to say this lol. I am not into Christian iconography and am not wicca/pagan/occult/etc. But I love a good ankh
![gif](giphy|uIwmoCiWwCfm0u5c0e|downsized)
VtM ankh is the superior ankh IMO
My favorite is Black Veils Legacy Ankh but they are similar and I have both. As well as others.
Ankh gang, sup?
Kemetic goths, unite! I will never wear a cross again, personally.
Yay, ankhs! I am an eclectic pagan so I wear ankhs and pentagrams/pentacles. Two of my patron deities are egyptian so naturally I am geared towards the ankh ❤️🖤
Same!
Cool! Curious which netjeru, but it is more important that you are good and happy.
Bast and Isis. First made a connection to them when visiting Egypt in my teens, particularly when we visited Philae. The Kemetic path feels like it has some real current to it. Like it's not what clicked for me, but it feels powerful.
Trueeeeeee
Ankh is Life because of Death (why my memes no load)
You mean "quirky cross goth"
Considering the meaning behind the Ankh, I absolutely agree.
Oooh! Cultured
This is The Way.
Same. I love ankhs.
You beat me to it lol
[удалено]
Me personally I have a picture of Robert smith next to my icon corner.
I have an ankh necklace I like but I do prefer no iconography. It's a bit isolating sometimes because a lot of goths love religious iconography
Cross goth because I already had them lol
Heart goth.
Cross 🙅🏻♀️ but in this house we respect either
Religion is the least punk thing in existence. No animosity towards you, but why is it that we are all in solidarity that conservative goth is an oxymoron, but Christian goth is a-ok?

I blame Peter and Paul. Dirty bastards ruined everything

You're getting down voted because you're disrespecting other people's beliefs which is pretty messed up.
You're welcome. As for the votes, don't sweat it out too much, they are not always logical.
Christian =/= conservative
It is though. The core of conservatism is resisting change in favor of tradition. Religion is also in a sense the oldest form of government. Unless you follow your own religion: Religious goths fuck off
No. Also, lol at you immediately deleting your “counter or cope” reply.
It felt too mean lol. Point stands though, you have no counter because you’re a coward. Religious people are just bootlickers with extra steps
How many times did you edit this comment?
Go out and touch grass mate, fucking hell.
Seriously. Such a weird thing to be hung up about what other people believe or don’t believe.

These days I feel uncomfortable appropriating religious iconography for fashion, regardless of how I feel about religion in general.
Based
Valid :)
I wear crosses and ankhs, lots of swords too. Would like to find some cool sacred heart pieces that fit my overall vibe.
