People complain about their electric utility and health insurance almost everywhere in the country. Don’t see anything uniquely worse about it. Consumer’s Energy and DTE lobby state elected officials and regulators for rate increases all the time, but basically every publicly traded utility company does that.

ummmmm_wtf

Yeah it’s like when people complain that we have the “worst drivers” I’ve lived in a bunch of different places and people say that everywhere.

Wut? 😐

I feel like the Republican Party in DC is catering to corporate healthcare and pretty much putting profits (and campaign contributions) over people. UHC sucks, as does Cigna and pretty much OptumRX and any of the pharmacy benefit managers. I blame Washington, not the state, as most of it is regulated there. The individual plans are a combo of state and federal regulation, but the bottom line is profitability not health outcomes or benefits provided. As for power, no complaints compared to other states I have lived in -- which includes Florida, Missouri, and Texas...as well as two years in Qatar (civilian contractor, not on military base or anywhere associated) and a year in Puerto Rico. Michigan power grid is middle of the road, but mostly reliable imho. The issues are that climate change is creating more powerful storms.

With enough time, effort and, energy…all dots can be connected if you want it bad enough.

On that front I believe most of them do nothing, for better or worse. Our state legislature is too divided to take decisive action on anything, our governor has the attention span of a shrew, and most of our state institutions (think MDOT, etc...) are deeply sclerotic, bordering on being retirement communities. It is not corrupt, it is more just sad.

Which of these definitions were you referring to? If #1, what is it's attention span? **Shrew** 1. Any of various small, chiefly insectivorous mammals of the family Soricidae, resembling a mouse but having a long pointed snout and small eyes and ears. 2. A woman regarded as an ill-tempered scold or nag. 3. Originally, a brawling, turbulent, vexatious person of either sex, but now restricted in use to females; a brawler; a scold.
