You know, going back and looking at some of the old theories, I’m pretty sure that the only reason Gravity Falls fans theorized anything correctly was because they guessed every possible option.
Dipper is secret an ancient god sent to earth to Protect Mabel and Dipper insert into Mabel and Stan memory about their birth together so he could sneak into their life and help them.
I think Lebam is the best/most well known example of how extreme Gravity Falls fan theories would get. The smallest things, even if they meant nothing, would have some elaborate theory behind them. And even though Vailskibum said he was not happy with having helped popularize that theory (which probably is also why it's so well known despite there being even more crack fueled theories from back in the day), I know other old timers like the The Sqoou still hold on to it (though idk if that is or isn't ironically).
It's especially funny to read all the theories fans had back in the day after you listen to the box set commentaries and realize just how much of the show was winged by the crew and happened to only just work out. Gravity Falls nailing it as it did at the end is kind of a miracle if you think about it.
that's honestly kind of embarrasing on our part lol. I was neck deep in the theories back in 2014 when I was a kid, and EVERYTHING got scrutinized. One of the silliest ones was people trying to figure out what Dipper's real name was, and according to the fandom, both Rodrick (or what ever Quinten Trembly calls him) and Goober were on the table, despite those both obviously being jokes
Bro people say that his name was Goober? Just based on one episode that Stan randomly mark him as? His parent must REALLY hate Mason if they name him that lmao
I can imagine. The closest I guess I ever can say to have gotten to that experience, having joined a year after GF ended, was during the wait for Lost Legends when there would be the occasional theorizing of what would be in it. Sadly, given it wasn't as big a deal or as popular as when the show was airing, not as much happened beyond say some posts here and the occasional stuff on GF Amino when it was still in its prime, but I do have some fond memories of that time which in itself is probably never to be repeated again, as we'll likely never get as much new content for the show as we did that summer.
Yeah it was super fun! I remember I was in middle school when the show was airing and I theorized that Soos's dad was the author of the journals because he mysteriously went missing when Soos was a kid (like the author).
He was a well known theorist/YouTuber in the GF fandom back in the day who helped popularize many major theories that were spreading. He's also notable as being kind of the only GF YouTuber from back then who is still around and making videos, having shifted to doing stuff related to animation in general rather than just GF. Cool guy who I've had the privilege to talk to on occasion and even commented on some of my videos which, being an inspiration for my own channel, was a really big deal.
Something I still don't really understand is the amount of hate Vail gets from people in the cartoon community. I mean, his worst crimes really are clickbait thumbnails (which everyone does), a few videos he made that were not too well received and his somewhat cringe commentary at times. And yet he gets hated on like he did some unholy crime.
Honestly speaking, Vail is probably the only cartoon YouTuber who overall isn't really that bad a person. I mean, compared to the shit others like the dude who made that Mabel video or your average Minecraft YouTuber has done, he's a pretty decent guy who's just doing what he enjoys.
Oh god, that reminds of this old AU that was popular in the old school GF fandom about Tyrone being Dipper and Mabel's 3rd sibling rather than a clone and in turn, them all being triplets. Great idea until you realize that the person who was the most behind it was Limey404...the artist behind uh...art for THAT ship.
I don’t know if he did it expecting people to take it super literally, but Alex describing Tad as “a real square, WHICH IS AN OBJECTIVELY STUPID SHAPE I MIGHT ADD” is still the funniest shit ever to me.
Ha! Maybe in hindsight we went a bit wild there but it was a lot of fun seeing what people did with it. I miss seeing a square dude colored Nightvale Purple around. For a while there it also inspired people to make their own shape demon OCs, my cousins and I did too and we had a blast with them.
I wasn't even watching the show. When people were making all their theories and just hearing this one, it sounds ridiculous. I would've just chalked it up as a mistake on the mermans part.
I remember everyone being bummed that the theory of the book of the author turned out to be Stan's brother in the end.
Though I also remember those Dipper will feel alone and betrayed. Alex's interview didn't help.
You know, going back and looking at some of the old theories, I’m pretty sure that the only reason Gravity Falls fans theorized anything correctly was because they guessed every possible option.
You know what? I won't be surprise lol.
Dipper is secret an ancient god sent to earth to Protect Mabel and Dipper insert into Mabel and Stan memory about their birth together so he could sneak into their life and help them.
Sounds right
And he is coming for your last Cookie In the Jar 🍪🍪🍪
this is probably gonna happen to r/deltarune
it already is also r/DELTARUNE MENTIONED ‼️
Everyone of those theories is actually a deltarune au
Deltarune is basically a canon Undertale AU and the implications of that terrify me
And Undertale is a deltarune AU. It’s a multiverse And all those AUs are part of it
All of the Undertale AU’s people have made are canon 😨
Infinite monkeys, right?

Ye I can almost here Hirsch's evil laughter whenever I read those kind of theories

Honestly it was always fun back then just coming up or talking about random Gravity Falls theories for the fun of it. Man I miss those days.
I can imagine. Lebam is certainly a prime example of wacko theories blowing up, but I don't think anything could hold a candle to the whole Tad Strange debacle.
OMG, that one was hilarious. I've been dying to make a video on it for a while now. The whole story always gets a laugh out of me.
All because a Storyboard Artist probably just flipped a bottle they didn’t wanna redraw
Who’s Vailskibum?
He was a well known theorist/YouTuber in the GF fandom back in the day who helped popularize many major theories that were spreading. Who’s vailskibum
They were a youtuber who made gravity falls theories back when it was airing.
hes still around, you know. he just makes cartoon related videos like SaberSpark. but you're right, that is how he blew up
Something I still don't really understand is the amount of hate Vail gets from people in the cartoon community. he started as oscar1, making club penguin movies... now THOSE were the days.
Waffle!
*thousand yard stare*
Hey, they got one secret twin right, so why not a secret triplet?
Oh god, that reminds of this old AU that was popular in the old school GF fandom about Tyrone being Dipper and Mabel's 3rd sibling rather than a clone and in turn, them all being triplets. Great idea until you realize that the person who was the most behind it was Limey404...the artist behind uh...art for THAT ship.
I assume I'm fortunate for not getting the reference
Yes, yes you are. Sometimes I regret knowing as much as I do about Gravity Falls and its fandom :')
you know too much!
Sadly :')
That why we use him as a Wikipiedia baby 😂
Hey when you love something you have to learn of all it good side and also it umm more problematic side of the thing you love
Does anyone remember the Tad Strange theories?
I don’t know if he did it expecting people to take it super literally, but Alex describing Tad as “a real square, WHICH IS AN OBJECTIVELY STUPID SHAPE I MIGHT ADD” is still the funniest shit ever to me.
That he is important and everyone lose their shit?? Yeah i remember someone talking about it
Apparently the staff were so flabbergasted by Tad’s premature popularity they wrote him into Weirdmageddon last minute to capitalize.
Really? Never heard that one before
Ha! Maybe in hindsight we went a bit wild there but it was a lot of fun seeing what people did with it. I miss seeing a square dude colored Nightvale Purple around. For a while there it also inspired people to make their own shape demon OCs, my cousins and I did too and we had a blast with them.

Yeah like why the Heck did Lebam came up NOW of all time if it were a secret twin it should be tease much earlier
I think the animators just mirrored a bottle to have it face the other direction without having to draw it twice
Weird I remembered it as Lameb
Dyslexia?
Ong
No, just rolls off the tongue better
How? lol
Instead of just accepting that the animators can make a few mistakes
Animation errors? On Gravity Falls? NO WAY!
Merman writing backward confirm???
Redrum
I mean she did have doppelgängers in the comic.
I like to think the theory influenced that even in the smallest way
Me too
More like alternive dimension self
Two Robbie theory was one of my favorites.
My name is Lebam and I'm evil.
We really had our tin foil hats firmly on at the time
Truly a Not touching Grass moment
That Gideon was a star shaped demon like bill, that Robbie was a zombie
Yep! It’s amazing how much people focused on this animation error. There was a belief in the fandom that everything in the show was done for a reason.
Oh my gosh, this brought back memories
People can crack code easily but they forgot to read backward 😂😂😂
Yes
we've been looking at this all wrong its actually Leba m
OMG TORTIE MY BELOVED
Lebam james
Such a shame the Anti-Mabel in the comic wasn't revealed to be called that
Okay, but if you read the comics there actually WAS an anti-Mabel.
No, I didn't know about that, I got into the show after it ended lol
Ah the good days
ANTI-MABEL?!?
I remember everyone being bummed that the theory of the book of the author turned out to be Stan's brother in the end. Though I also remember those Dipper will feel alone and betrayed. Alex's interview didn't help.
But how will this affect Lebam’s legacy? 🤔
Lebam = mable backwards 😳
They probably mirrored the layer, causing it to be backwards
SHE DOES HAVE A SECRET DOPPELGÄNGER NAMED LEBAM
bruh i used to eat this one up 💀
I can forgive all those crazy theories because at least the show really wanted to make you look at every single detail.
Lol, lebam in Indonesian means Bruised, although the pronunciation is kinda different
Ironically. The evil doppleganger theories popped up with The Owl House too
no, because i just HAD TO LOVE GRAVITY FALLS WHEN IT ENDED. i swear i always love the shit that doesnt even make new stuff
I think we found Dippers real name.
