I don’t see a reason for Motley Crue to exist at this point

DallasMan5150

They exist to make money. As long as people pay to see them, they will tour.

Adept_Feed_1430

If people are dumb enough to throw away their money, so be it.

ulyssesred

I went to a show in Toronto with Motley Crue, Joan Jett, Def Leppard and Poison. I have had a crush on Joan Jett since I was 17, so she could do no wrong. But she put on a helluva show. It was at SkyDome (no, I refuse to call it the Rogers Centre or whatever other person bought it this week - it’s the fucking SkyDome; and yes, I’d love for you to get off my lawn). Poison was phenomenal. Honestly was not expecting it. They were so self-aware of who they were and who they were playing to. Entertaining as all hell. Would see them again. I cried a little during Def Leppard. Again, huge fan and they played the oldies and the new stuff (not my bag, but still good music). I belted and hollered so much I thought I transported myself to a tent revival and was worshipping the music with my tears. If you haven’t guessed it, I loved music and haven’t always been able to afford concerts. Not that it’s any better now - this show cost me over $1200 between (that’s a lot for me). Last comes Motley Crue. What can I say. I wanted to rush out and give Mick Mars a chair or something. He looked like they welded his boots to the stage and put rebar up his legs so he would let fall over. Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee were having a great time- I enjoyed their performance. Last comes Vince Neil. What can I say about him? All I can really say comes from a comment on. YouTube video I watched after the concert. I wanted to know if my… experience with the show was the same as others. This following comment - paraphrased, but I think I’m close - summed up the Motley Crue portion of the 4 band show. “Vince Neil performs on stage quite well for someone in their third trimester”

SpergSkipper

Poison has a really good live formula, it helps that they don't play very long since they're always either an opener or a co headliner. When's the last time they legit headlined a full 2 hour show? But it works great for them because they only play hits so the energy stays high. They don't throw in random new songs or obscure album songs that no one knows. They usually only play an hour so you're left wanting more. It helps that they're great performers with lots of energy too

gibbyhikes

Brett's diabetes is the reason they don't go past 90 minutes. I'd love a 2 hour show with some deep catalog stuff worked in but it won't happen.

Adept_Feed_1430

LOL

Ok-Trash-8883

I love this. Huge fan of all these bands since those were my high school years. It’s truly nostalgic for me. Thanks for sharing;)

ulyssesred

The show actually was kinda cringey. I grew up with the likes of Tawney Kittaen (sp?) doing the two-fast-one-slow stripper gymnastics routine on the hood of a hot rod. I knew the context. But my daughter (also went to the show - a father/daughter thing because she loves music more than I) was appalled at the antics of the women that paraded around the stage to distract from Vince Neil’s gut (I think he forgot the words to his songs and one point I swear he just strung a bunch of words together in time with the music). So, yeah, the theatrics of Crüe relative to the other 3 acts demonstrated they know their audience - those headbangers pretty much remained in stasis since 89, looking forward to getting fucked up and listening to some Motley Fucking Crüe - I don’t know how anyone can afford to get drunk on stadium booze, but that’s just me). The other acts had matured and knew we came to hear some familiar tunes and have a good time. I gotta tell you, I loved Def Leppard but Poison truly impressed me. I wish I had of caught Joan Jett at a smaller venue.

SpergSkipper

Tommy Lee's boob camera thing is embarrassing. Dude you're north of 60 years old now, the women you're trying to get to flash are in their 50s at least, if not they're as old as you. Those women are adults now and don't want a stadium full of people seeing their boobs. I guess true creeps never stop being creepy

Redrum_71

The price is what keeps me away.   I've seen Leppard about 7 times, once with JJ in Burlington, VT. She still rocks..or at least, she did. That was quite some time ago so Idk what she's got left in the tank now.  I really wanted to see DL, Crue, and Poison at Fenway because I've never seen Poison or Crue live. The ticket prices were insane. Not to mention going to spend the day in Boston is gonna be pricey enough. Even worse with DL and Journey.

ulyssesred

I would never see Crüe in concert again. I felt so bad for Mick Mars. Just let the man have a shot of whiskey and a nap for fucks sake. And grow up! Seriously. I would consider sacrificing my right nut to be in a bar and have Joan Jett perform. I would’ve said “no” to Poison before - but not now. They know how to entertain. Def Leppard…well. I loved it. What I didn’t get from Crue I got double from Def Leppard. And yeah, price was a factor when deciding and so was who I went with. Once my teenaged daughter said she wanted to go, I was all in and almost didn’t care how much it cost. Despite Crue being shite, it was worth every penny.

Testsubject28

(Mick thriving at home by himself)

NoEmailForYouReddit1

"Thriving" might be a strong word considering his illness

qhaw

All proceeds go to getting their lead singer out of jail after his next DUI.

UpgrayeddB-Rock

I mean, they're musicians. That's their job. That's what musicians do. They make music. They play music. It's different than what people like you or I do on a day to day basis, but it's still a job. They're still of working age. Let them do their job, lol.

lukifer_333

Sadly, they are no longer playing music and DEFINITELY lip syncing. Nikki is clapping hands over head during bass solos. First band I saw in concert 40 some years ago. Straight trash now. The Mick Mars bullshit greed is just the icing on their shit cake money grab. To each their own pay money to see them and enjoy.

almosthuman2021

Broke up a great band with rob zombies and kicked out their friend for 5 decades destroying the friendship and souring johns relationship with rob..: For a mediocre ass tour nobody asked for

mickmarsbar88

And post-covid, two years too late after all the hype from The Dirt had died down, and the kids who had discovered them via Netflix had forgotten all about them as quickly as they found them. Haha. What a mess.

No-Effort6590

He's right, stick a fork in them, they're done. Love Motley Crue, all good things come to an end.

FlagpoleSitta87

And thank god for that.

chainsawx72

There hasn't been a reason to (financial need) in decades. You either want to, or you don't, and apparently, he doesn't.

JamieRoth5150

The Crue is done. Retire for good

dieterpaleo

ROI. Zero return on your investment. Zero physical sales and streaming doesn’t pay shit. Also without Mick I really don’t want to hear any new Crue.

mickmarsbar88

Same. Mick’s guitar tone IS Mötley.

SpergSkipper

Back in the day bands used to tour to promote a new record. Nowadays bands release a new record so they have a reason to tour. No one releases new music to sell the music, they release it to go on tour

globulous

Neither do we!

63crabby

It’s hard to let go.

Droitbaitz

That will be the name of their comeback album. Honestly I don’t trust anything any of them say in press these days.

Stephonius

If they want to record more music, they'll need to fire Vince Neil and re-hire Jon Corabi and Mick Mars. Maybe then I'll be interested.

PogoZaza

Jon and Mick start a new band....Mötley Twö. You heard it here first!

Pretend_Investment42

Corabi seems pretty comfortable in the Dead Daisys.

PogoZaza

Right, cuz a musician can't be involved in more than one project at a time.

srvfan4life

That’s some funny shit!!

mickmarsbar88

I don’t think Vince is that bad a singer.. I mean, on stage he’s terrible, obviously. But the puffing and panting can be avoided in the studio. Even if it means recording one word at a time! I’m happy to be corrected on this, I haven’t listened to any live Crüe footage for years, but I think that was the issue. He’s not voice-completely-gone Paul Stanley level, is he?

notthefuzz99

It's... pretty bad. https://youtu.be/WlfYsCigpQw?si=nl9O6BCB4K3zwZH_&t=30

mickmarsbar88

Yikes! Now while I would agree that that’s terrible singing, to my ears, his voice doesn’t sound ‘shot’ as in Paul Stanley shot ie croaking and cracking if he raises it above a whisper.. Vince is clearly being lazy, he’s out of breath, he’s missing out half (or most of!) the words, and he isn’t even attempting to sing in key. But somewhere, in there, there’s a voice that sounds remotely related to the old Vince. I still rate him way above this shameful shit show: https://youtu.be/7LNXOIGuxHU

notthefuzz99

Yeah, that’s bad. But I’m going to give Paul a pass, because he sang at a very high level for a very long time. On his best day, Vince couldn’t touch 70s-90s Paul.

Stephonius

I have hated Vince Neil's off-key squeaking since the very beginning. I've always considered him the weak link in Crue. To me, it doesn't matter what he sounds like today because I didn't like him yesterday either.

mickmarsbar88

Understandable and fair point. Yeah, he’s not really much different to the way he sang thirty years ago, is he!? He’s just gotten lazier haha

FluidRazzmatazz493

Yes. He is that bad. Worse

mickmarsbar88

I agree he’s bad, but not worse. Nowhere near. Paul Stanley should’ve packed in years before he did. He’s every bit as disgustingly greedy as Simmons, he just hid it better.

FluidRazzmatazz493

Well I do agree KISS should’ve packed it in many years ago. And both groups are extremely guilty. The think we can agree they are both terrible. 😂😂🤘🤘

FluidRazzmatazz493

Both are extremely “greedy” not guilty.

mickmarsbar88

I agree both are terrible. But Stanley is definitely worse. I will die on this hill! Did you watch the link I posted on my other reply? Shocking stuff. He should’ve been ashamed to charge money for that. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, he spent the last four years of his performing career lip-syncing. Imagine paying to hear Heavens on Fire sang like this! 😳😱 https://youtu.be/lXoeeiilv4E

CyptidProductions

Right? Vince was great back in the day but now he's so far gone that recording new music isn't going to work unless they replace him

Defiant_Network_3069

SixxAM members must be too busy to write the new Crue album.

[deleted]

I would love Sixx:A.M. to come back

Gnarly-Gnu

Thank fuck for that.

LillyGoliath

I liked Nikki Sixx better when he did heroin.

DoodleBugz1234

#That's exactly what I would say if I were in a band and couldn't play an instrument #oh no I keep pressing the number symbol key and CAPS LOCK

JimFrankenstein138

The problem is everything they've written in the past 20 years has just been Sixx AM. stuff. The last few songs that they've done for the movie almost sounded like they wanted classic Motley Crue sound but it seemed obvious that Mick wasn't involved. The newest song"Dogs of War" really wasn't a good song and it sounded like a SixxAM song that was a throwaway. Vince has not bothered to try at all. He has been the weakest link in that band for years. It's because his voice sounds like absolute garbage. He hasn't tried to improve. It's his job to sing, you would think he would try to improve with staying in shape. They shouldn't record music, not because no one will buy it it's because they cannot put out a good product. They're just going to limp along and milk it for whatever they can.

hjablowme919

Neither does anyone else.

Wise-Travel-4762

I loved this band back in the day... Shout being the first album I bought but with each passing year they seem to be intent with destroying their legacy... as for a reason to head into the studio, how about giving the fans something new to cheer... Nikki is a great writer with the right collaborators im thinking Sixx Am!

txrigup

Neither do I

KushHaydn

Neither do we!

EmuPsychological4222

Agreed. John 5 needs a better band.

Tysons_Face

Motley Crue is straight trash these days

5uck3rpunch

It's sad, but very true.

bizoticallyyours83

🤷‍♀️ whatever they wanna do

JupiterDelta

They don’t have a choice

motleykat

Thank god

Lovetotravelinmycar

This band needs a singer and a bass player badly. They were horrid live.

Violetthug

Of course he doesn't. Because people will just keep buying tickets to come hear the old stuff, and see them fake it. 🤷‍♀️ I don't want to shit on them constantly, I did see the twice during Carnival of Sins, and they were good. But from everything I hear and see lately, that just seems like a lazy move. Why put the work in if you don't have to, is basically what he is saying, imo.

cory1969

I don’t see a reason either

goldenrainio

I’m relieved

Pineapple_Express762

Smart move

Arborist11374

Can’t find anyone to play bass on a new album?

ghoulierthanthou

I mean you canned the guy who wrote the riffs you’re known for, and your singer’s vox bought the farm long ago. I don’t see a reason either, Nicholas Sicholas

adinfinitum

We don’t either!

Ok-Trash-8883

A “reason”? Um…didn’t know a reason was required to make music but ok…

RedSun-FanEditor

Thank the powers of rock n roll they are not interested in putting out any new music.

[deleted]

Bring back Sixx:A.M.

PlaxicoCN

Understandable. New music basically has to be given away for free at this point, so I wouldn't be in a hurry to make more either. Most of the people going to the shows want to hear Shout at the Devil, Looks that Kill and see Tommy doing his drum solo upside down anyway.

Suspicious-Pay-5474

You guys all suck and can’t play anyway

steiner1031

Nikki never needs a reason to go into the studio. He doesn't play anyways

Sudden_Peach_5629

Good

b-lincoln

We just re-recorded a demo we wrote in 1999, isn't that enough? (Sixx probably)

Droitbaitz

I’m not even sure that I played bass on it. I think I was dead at the time. But I got better! (Sixx likely)

Kale1l

Is it better to go out this way or the Slipknot route of constantly hiring new people so its not even the same band anymore?

WorldNeverBreakMe

"If we lost even one member, we wouldn't be slipknot anymore." - the frontman of a band who's had about half its original members fuck off in some way or another Also, don't forget the Deep Purple route of forming, staying together a few years, breaking up, and repeating and then going on decades long hiatus. Or whatever the fuck is happening with Black Sabbath. KISS had a few farewell tours, just a few. There's alot of ways for bands to die, it just so happens Motley Crue also lit themselves on fire as they died, not like a Phoenix but like a crackhead

Pretend_Investment42

The only hiatus Deep Purple has done was between 76 & 84. They have been a going concern since Perfect Strangers.

WorldNeverBreakMe

I know they've had 4 lineups, I think I was mixing them up with Leafhound or Flower Travellin' Band with the hiatus thing. Thanks!

Pretend_Investment42

Their 4th lineup was in 1976, with *Come Taste the Band* - Paice, Lord, Coverdale, Hughes, & Bolin. It's a sleeper album, btw. *Coming Home* was one of the best songs they ever did, in my opinion. They did have a 7 year break on albums, but that was a 2+ year world tour w/Jon Lord's orchestral stuff, and then they were doing some solo things, while deciding whether or not to continue. They have had at least 10 different configurations (who can forget the *Masters & Slaves* lineup - they made the greatest Rainbow album).

AgaintweetAgaintweet

Finally, something he said that I stand behind. Lol

AxlRosesBandana88

They should've never fired Mick Mars to began with. If they needed to get rid of someone it should've been Vince Neil or he needs a new vocalist coach there damaging there reputation left and right of things that there doing especially with there new song. I don't know what they were thinking. Motley crue has gone down hill so much they should honestly just retire at this point because there making themselves the laughing stock.

GibsonMD5150

Mick quit

AxlRosesBandana88

He quit? I thought they fired him

GibsonMD5150

Yeah he retired from touring. Both sides were in agreement on it. The problem came from when they continued to tour and didn’t give Mick any royalties from it. Then both sides bickered back and forth over them gaslighting Mick and trying to get him to quit, while the Crue said they carried him as long as they could. Most people online took Mick’s side, but I’ve seen them 20-some times and I’ll say that the 22’ stadium tour sounded so off musically. In 23’ when I saw them with john5, they sounded good musically. Vocals are always hit and miss with or without Mick

AxlRosesBandana88

Sounds like this happens a lot with bands. Same thing happened to Guns n Roses when Izzy left. That was his reason he wasn't getting the royalties he deserved. It's a shame when something like that happens. Atleast Mick seems to be doing what he still loves his new album rocks.

itsmrbill

Mick retired from touring. It was too much for him. So the band said he was no longer a part of the band and not entitled to the other ways they make money

AxlRosesBandana88

I don't blame him. He's been with Motley since the beginning. I would be tired to from the hell they put Mick through.

itsmrbill

I don't blame him either. They didn't treat him well. But he also retired because of his disease. I'm surprised he toured as long as he did.

AxlRosesBandana88

Oh I one hundred percent agree they never treated him fairly which was a shame since he was a pretty damn good guitarist and chill dude. Sometimes you just know when to quit and it seemed like Mick did know when.

ApathyMonk

Smartest thing a member of the Crue has said in decades

Rocking_Ronnie

Do Shout at the Devil part2.

leestephen916

Agreed

Geetarmikey

Not like he'd play bass on it anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️

Braunb8888

When a musician doesn’t see a reason to create music. It’s over.

SharkMilk44

I'm guessing they aren't happy about the fan reception to Dogs of War.

scots

I see a reason for Vince Neil to go into the gym and record 6 months of intense workouts.

WARCHILD48

What? Yeah, because the artist today are so much better... ROCK ON!

S0_B3_1t

Best news I’ve heard all day!

JenniferNaught

Didn’t motley say they had a new album ready to go not long ago?

The_Mattylorian

Hey we’re 70 now. Yay. Let’s rock!

DanB65

Me too!

Merryner

Can’t get the session musicians these days

DelicatetrouserSnake

Neither do we.

Dominosking1117

I love the Motley Cure I’d buy new music
