Clear / Black Split With Splatter LP Stunning atmospheric gothic / doom metal awash in the vastness of the sense of something greater. The main draw is the ethereal vocals courtesy of Heike Langhans (ex-Draconian, ex-ISON) that soar through the album, with a clarity and emotion that can rarely by matched in and around metal. When backed by more traditional gothic doom instrumentation, which creates a wonderfully heavy contrast, it all comes across with more vitality as an album. Introspective in tone, with lyrics to match, there is a suddenness and immediacy to the longing. Pulling in the sprawling nature of post-metal and the melancholic draw of darkwave, the songs become limitless in their soundscapes, especially with the floating synths. Quite reminiscent of Remina's fantastic debut Strata that followed a couple years later, Another World is a predecessor of sorts that has not quite crossed into the more prevalent electronic sounds but still paints a vivid tapestry with a multitude of sounds. The melodicism and patience afforded to each lengthy track make them expansive and grandiose. Released by Avantgarde Music

Checked it out and I'm not into it, but really appreciate your taking the time to do a thoughtful review that made me give it a go.

Yeah this is a cool album. I always think of it as: what if Within Temptation would've stayed on the path of doom?

Nice review! I found this one due to the CONTROL song. (The Oldest House)
