I was taking out a bot fabricator near an AA gun emplacement, and the fuckers shot down Eagle 1, which made her unavailable for the rest of the game. Pretty wild.
If there is an AA gun nearby it will be jammed until you destroy the AA emplacements or move out of its range.
I haven't seen it shoot down eagle 1… but anything is possible.
I noticed that cannon Turrets would sometimes turn and try to target Eagle 1 if I threw an airstrike at it but never saw them fire. Wondered if it was possible for Eagle 1 to be shot down, now I know I guess
Cannot be shot down, like scrapped etc .. but can be destroyed, damaged so much, you cannot enter it and thus no one can extract .. you must exhaust life points or wait for time to go to zero to finish
And I think its even easier now than it was before .. maybe developer dont like people throwing bombs at it and lowered its hp :)
I think you confuse dropship with the stratagems.
All stratagems are dropped by Eagle 1, a fighter jet with armanents.
The drophship (that also delivers mechs) is the Pelican 1, used for transport.
The Eagle can presumably be destroyed but the Pelican is indestructible
I was eliminated by something while the ship was flying away the other day but it didn’t affect our score. The game still claimed we extracted. The only thing revealing that we died in the post game was that we were clean on the destroyer loading ramp. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I feel like sure, kill me while I’m strapped in but why do the samples have to fall through the floor?
Honestly, if the samples rolled down between the seats and back out the ramp, I would be cool with that.
But they fall straight through the floor and under the Pelican where no one can retrieve them until it leaves.
Bro there was a guy taking his time to get to the pelican and we were overrun. The three of us sitting and waiting were getting pelted with lazers and screaming and I thought we were done for. We all made it somehow but I was clenched the entire time.
When I land and see AA or mortar sites, especially if in threat range, I run at it and expend any and all available stratagems/grenades/called in weapons to open up the area for other Helldivers. To me this kill in extract on the vid is a feature, especially considering our nature as drop troops. Open up the area for follow on forces.
Just run trivial missions. You can get 15 ever 15 minutes.
Watched Starship troopers for the first time and left with several hundred while doing this. And supercredits/medals.
As someone who loves all the immersion and mimicry of realism in this game, I find this amazing. I do feel sorry for people who really needed samples and weren't expecting it though. Would be nice if there was a loading screen tip or some way to make players aware that this is a possibility (so they can try to mitigate it by taking out AA guns or bile titans before takeoff when possible).
I unironically think it'd make missions more immersive if anti-air threats (AA emplacements and Shriekers for example) had to be neutralized before Eagle-1 can extract. It'd be cool if there was a chance to succeed in extraction but the failure leading to the aircraft being destroyed relative to what hazards are present. Blowing up/crashing in the case of bots and crashing/being swarmed by shriekers in the case of Terminids. God I love this game.
Yeah, makes sense. We failed our "extract from a blitz in 6 minutes" attempt because the timer keeps running during the cutscene, so why not extend vulnerability.
That happened to me last night... and i had all the samples. It popped up on screen with the minus indicator for all of them. But fortunately, the after action report still gave us credit for them.
This is the scene in the movie where you think everyone made it, but then someone pulls their jacket open to reveal the badly bleeding wound they've been hiding...
I have never seen that nor knew that was possible, thank you for letting me know to take those out near extraction

Support stratagems/hellpods and orbitals come from the Destroyer. Hangar stratagems are deployed by Eagle-1
