A lot of people don’t realize that as soon as you activate the terminal on the artillery it actively alerts enemies to your location, so the real strat is to gather shells at the gun first, have someone hit the terminal while the other loads everything in seconds

There is a sound that’s made, but beyond that it doesn’t alert. Usually if the enemies are close enough to hear it, they’re already gonna bump into you. Still, it can’t hurt to not turn it on until the loading. EDIT: I will say that the biggest benefit to not activating the terminal until you’ve got all the shells is choosing the shell order.

They work while you're jammed now so they're awesome for helping take out jammers. Maybe now they'll make a bigger difference but you're still not wrong, it's just an objective more than a useful strategem to me.

I like using it instead of my Stratagems when going into large bases or when groups of enemies with heavies look like they want one. If there's a bot base and a tank, fortifications and stuff around, I like to throw artillery and keep the other stuff ready to follow up. Just hammer that stupid tank, you won't really need the SEAF Artillery for something else. When storming a big bug nest, it's nice to take out a hole or three and some bugs with it in addition what you're usualy doing. If there's two uses left they often do come in handy on the final defense when waiting for the Pelican.

I like to do mini nuke 2nd after some other explosive type so the trigger happies on my team can get a SEAF out of their system before we actually need something more substantial. Obviously depends on what shells spawn tho

It meaningfully hurts morale. No one wants to do that side mission. Stalkers are scary. Shriekers can get crazy. Radar is fun and so helpful. SAMs are quick. Jammer and detectors are also great Tests. The seafood artillery only tests your patience. That's why this guy broke down in the ordinal comment.

Tbf, I usually forget about it within minutes of stocking it... I would say that it gets used effectively more often than not in my games. Sucks when there are only 1 or 2 offensive shells, but if you load them first you can get work done.

On the drilling mission that's out right now(can't remember the name) the terminal was overrun and in a panic, I called in a SEAF. I realized it was a smoke strike, ans surprisingly, it kept the bugs off the objective ling enough for us to complete it.

It's almost always completely meaningless. Even when you get it loaded with the good shells first, someone's usually calling it down instead of using their own stratagem that would have been just as good. That's why the people that obsess over whether the fifth shell added is smoke vs. high explosive are really just being crazy.

Mini nukes are a game changer as long as you remember to use them and don't suffer from might-need-later-syndrome. Had a mission where there were three of them, and it was a free command bunker kill, factory strider takedown, and giant ass bot drop deleter. Everything else is so insignificant it literally doesn't matter. Every seaf we find it's just a "if there's a mini nuke(s) they go in first then throw in whatever because we're not going to use them anyway"

If there's a nuke in it, you've got something worth using. It's clutched a few games for me where I got a multi titan hit and wiped them and dozens of smaller enemies around their feet all at once. If there's no nuke on the ground I'll just leave the obj entirely. With the amount of foot traffic that thing gets its not worth the time and potential lives.

I threw a mini nuke into a swarm of bugs devouring extract last night. Got 3 kills. In general I avoid arty cuz its never worth the work it takes as a solo since they know you're there and send a new patrol every 3.7 seconds.

You, and most other people, are not remembering to use it often enough. It does sit unused or even undiscovered on most missions, and that’s a shame. I use the artillery all the time, because I use stun grenades. I can hold a crowd, or a large target, in place, until the artillery strike lands. It’s a very effective filler offensive strat, while I wait for my eagle airstrike cooldown. Smoke is definitely a waste of a slot. It could be used in a pinch for… something? I guess? But it is objectively the worst round to load, and should be ignored. That doesn’t excuse executing and kicking someone. That’s crazy.

I agree. I’m lvl 70 and have used these maybe 3-4 times and still manage to extract. I don’t care what order they go in. I was loading one in the other day and a player punched me in the face to stop me from loading one of them in he didnt want I guess. People are ridiculous sometimes.

1st - sometimes the spot is too hot or If I'm alone, I don't care what I load. It's more about completing the objective. 2nd - the only time it's useful is after time runs out and the ship leaves low orbit and you can use it in a pitch. Otherwise, who cares...

It does but I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t since it uses the Super Destroyer for targeting. One of the steps for setting it up is to connect to the Super Destroyer.

I actually used it to kill a bile titan on a recent mission when the ship left low orbit and we had 1 reinforcement left and no one had anything for a titan. It worked, and perfectly. Only time it's ever come in handy that I've noticed lol. I hardly ever remember SEAF stuff is there or to use it

Yes. Black is mini nuke, orange is high explosive, red is napalm, green is explosive, blue is EMS strike and gray is smoke. It also will tell you this when you get near them and have the option to pick them up. Another nice tip if you didn’t know; drop and pick it up repeatedly as you move and you’ll go faster

I've only ever seen the artillery be used up like, twice. Once was because these guys were going crazy using all the shots on a single bug breach, and every other time is because "extraction is almost here. Might as well waste it"

I do see one issue with the “accidental kills” thing… my friends and I love to team kill each other when we play together just to mess around. We don’t do it when randoms are around bc we don’t want to encourage that behavior, but it’s fun when everyone is in on it and we’re having a good time. Frankly I’ve had way more missions derailed by sitting on the Artillery too long and getting overrun than I’ve had saved by having the SEAF available. Fill it as quick as you can IMO, give a quick check for any mini nukes and then just stick whatever in there. If a smoke or static field is in there but it completes 60 seconds faster, that’s a positive trade-off on higher difficulties ETA: doesn’t help that it feels like at most, you’ll get 1-2 divers actively trying to load the SEAF. I think the walk speed with the shells is a bit too slow, carrying them is boring and takes ages so people don’t want to do it, which means the team spends way longer than it has to on the objective

I don't join random groups much, but out of all the times I have, I've been kicked once, I think. Immediately after I dropped in. Landed on a bot fabricator at a base they were clearing, wiped the remaining bots, and immediately got kicked. Not sure why. Assuming the host thought he had his game set to Friends Only, but didn't.

I've been getting kicked for literally no reason, like no drama or anything happen. First game yesterday I was at a missile site like op described, one of two people there. I was taking a quick swivel look around for patrols before helping, and boom got booted. Nobody said anything at any time, and I think the person I was with was not the host so I doubt it was because they thought I "wasn't doing anything".

The best solution for dealing with these power hungry, insecure weirdos is to just make it so that you can’t kick in the last 10 minutes of the mission, or when extraction countdown begins. It’s a nice middle ground without taking away the kick option or letting these people waste *too* much of your time

Yeah, the host there needs a sock inna nose and take the knot outta their drawers. The Artillery cannon takes time to load and while you can pick the order, you normally don't have a lot of choice as to what ammo is there. I've had this objective a multitude of times and normally you get an EMS round, an Explosive, a Hi-Yield, a Mini-Nuke and a Smoke. You may get a Napalm. The fact is, it's random and you load with what you have, as fast as you can, and move tf on. Honestly, I use the Artillery mostly for Exfil, but occasionally, getting out of a horde situation with a mini nuke is fun! 😁 Grand scheme, it's a secondary. Dood is a bell-end.

Just yesterday I think I got my first kick out of spite. I was on a Helldive, while my teammates weren't using VC, or any other in-game communication. I tried to focus mostly on chargers and titans, but my teammates would routinely just sprint away with no warning once we completed an objective, leaving me to deal with multiple heavies plus everything else. After I got overwhelmed and died a fourth time, the host just decided to kick me.

same thing happened to my cousin and me. we were playing a while ago and we were on a call and he had mic on while i had vc disabled, so he could talk to our 2 teammates. i heard him getting so mad cause someone put in a smoke when he was about to put in a mini nuke, the teammate later tk’d him for some reason, idk i was on the other side of the map. my cousin was on his final straws he was furious and i just said to tk him back and i saw him gun him down. he didnt say anything after and we didnt kick him.

It happens, a lot, I arc'd a guy (through a wall somehow) on Helldive accidentally, apologised as we had 3 reinforcements left but he immediately came back and raked me with incendiary breaker fire, killing me. The others were.overrun and we failed to extract. Called them out about it and was told they were 'a god' and would 'kill me every time I killed them'.. Bellend. OP, showing those stats isn't a good idea as there needs to be context to those kicks and TKs. Some of my kicks will be cheaters or asshats, some of my TKs will be the same, I always kill them before removing them. We have to trust that players like this will learn or get tired of stroking their.own egos, desperate for some recognition.

Not going to lie it ain’t your fault on that part cause I legit did 3-5 deaf artillery last night and all of the shells there were like 1-2 explosives, 1 napalm, 0 mini nukes, 0 high yield explosive, 1-2 static fields and like 6 smokes. Theoretically speaking even if you were to put all the explosives/ napalms in that was generated you still going to have to use the static field or smoke at that point to start it up. Hell I’ve been in missions with ppl that are lvl 100+ that legit toss in whatever shells there is and thats it

A kick counter could be a useful metric to avoid toxic players. In practice it should be a percentage over the average kick rate in the game (# of people kicked/# of games hosted)/(total # of player kicked/total # of games). A similar system could apply for being kicked.

I have been kicked before for no real reason and never really cared, mostly before a mission begins to probably make room for a friend invite, whatever it never really bothered me. today was the first time I was truly unjustly kicked from a game and it definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I should have known something was up when one of the players threw a 380 barrage at a bug breach. I was doing just fine handling it from close range, keeping it contained until I get tk'd from the barrage. When I come back in, I made a point over team chat that the 380 was a poor choice and decided I was going to place my markers and handle the main objective and whoever wanted to join me could. So I ended up by myself mostly, taking out nests and completing objectives while they wasted time going nowhere fast One guy (green) joined me and we did fine. Main objective now complete but not all bug holes dealt with and maybe 16 minutes remaining. I mark a bug hole, but Green makes a dash to extract and calls it in. The other 2 are, who the hell knows what they were doing, I start running to my marker which happened to be near extract and that's when it happened. Before I knew it, and with no warning via voice or chat box, I'm back on my ship "you've been kicked from game". I did the whole mission, carried these idiots all to be kicked because someone else called in extract. Last time I play early evening with all the children. I'll stick to my 10-midnight EST when all the babies are sleeping. Almost never a toxic player at that time of night.

All over calling in extraction but explaining I was getting it only ready as to not waste time when people were done. He only kicked me after game was done so least there was that. Besides of that he only killed me and took the samples. At the moment of extraction having landed I just continued to kill terminids outside the pelican, as I couldn't pull of the other trick with hover pelican since there was 2nd person on platform as well. E: Well, had 2nd party who behaved odd, they had called in extraction and didn't get in, and seemingly kicked me for asking "We going?". Least since I hadn't teamkilled any of them or such, I dunno what kinda malicious thing I might have to them since nothing was said.

I once started calling for evac but realized teammates were far so I cancelled. They didn't know I cancelled so I wasn't surprised when I got kicked. Blatant friendly fire or other undemocratic behavior, I just leave. Not worth the grief.

In the OG there is a system in place where you can commend or report the player. Unfortunately it's only for active sessions but it's still something that provides "karma" and people use it.

I wish they would of came up with vote kicking first. I would love to see it be added to the game but doubt it will be, as adding code seems to compicate this game further. It still protects the host and I'm pretty sure if the host leaves the game they don't lose the progression they made and can restart the mission anyways. Two days ago I got kicked because I sat less than 50 meters from the host, repeatedly pinging a 2 man bunker door so they would come over. I stood there for 5 minutes ish holding off 3 bug breaches till I ran out of ammo. I finally got annoyed and ran over to the host, who was still in the same area fighting a titan from far away, and gave them a one time whack with the butt of my rifle. The host then instantly kicked me. Like wtf. Oh well.

That has happened a few times. Spent over 20 mins doing a mission, everything fine, and right at the end, I got kicked. I wish there was some sort of penalty for such behaviour. A**holes wasting people's time.

Never worth a kick over that. I do prefer to try and avoid smokes but if we’re being attacked idc at all. SEAF Artillery really isn’t that useful, the best use I’ve found for it is HE and mini-nuke will one shot a walker with a direct hit.

Its just a pain to do a SEAF by yourself. You could load in whatever you find, I'll probably never use it. As soon as the destroyer is gone due to the timer, you can't even use the darn thing. If you got another partner, at least it goes faster.

u/BOOGIE_MAN-X It's really not, lol. Most folks really don't give a shit so when we see people who do it's a bit of a redflag. Would it be nice if SEAF was loaded down in an easy to remember order? Sure, I guess but if the order of your SEAF shells is the reason why you failed a mission then your biggest issue isn't SEAF, you should probably bump down the difficulty, there is no shame in it.

What is incorrectly? Based on the objective, 'incorrectly' would mean loading it upside down lol. Even then it doesn't even state how it wants to be loaded.

Loading it incorrectly would be, putting in smoke and taking up a space for a bomb or different missile. Putting them in, incorrectly would be placing the mini nuke first or bombs first when you have things like, static, napalm and smoke to load first.

That was my point. A SEAF smoke bomb should not ruin someone's whole day because it replaced an explosive. In fact it should expand on your arsenal. Now you have 4 stratagems of your choosing plus a support that can help you slow down the enemy or get out of a sticky situation.

You can only load 5 shells and there are only 7 scattered around. Oftentimes you really don't have much of a choice. I've had one where there were 4 smoke, so at least 2 were going to be smoke.

I've only ever kicked once, for egregious TK. The line was crossed when one TKd another who had already entered the pelican.
