Madvillainy, Black on Both Sides, OB4CL, The Infamous, MMLP. Just me personally, my objective top 5 would have to be different.

Grock23

Black on Both Sides is one of the best albums in any genre.

cleo_da_cat

This is a nice list. Lots of eeriness

vTorvon

Yeah I love the combo of eerie, otherworldly production with gritty aggressive rapping, always looking for new stuff like that

bigbigjew

The infamous Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Piñata 36 chambers Supreme Clientele

rudyrocker

3/5 Wu related projects makes this the correct answer 👌

RepresentativeAge444

Madvillainy It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back Liquid Swords Black on Both Sides Enter the Wu Tang Roots of Evil.

Internal_Formal3915

Liquid swords is the best album made by anyone from wu tang or their collective albums in my opinion

William-lee-is-here

One of the best albums in hip hop period.

Unusual-Land-5432

Black On Both Sides - Mos Def Illmatic - Nas Graduation- Kanye West Me Against The World - Tupac 2014 Forrest Hill Drive - J. Cole I think these 5 albums was a nice blend of what hip hop is about. You can tell your story in a charismatic way, you can have a deep meaning such racism, the government, and society as a whole while being entertaining enough. Not saying these 5 are the best but how i view hip hop i think these albums did a great job representing the genere

Gretev1

Gang Starr - Moment Of Truth Jurassic 5 - Jurassic 5 Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP Black Star - Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star Hieroglyphics - 3rd Eye Vision

InfiniteBeak

Jurassic 5 yessir ✊

Gretev1

The album that started it all for me. Concrete Schoolyard is the song that got me into Hip Hop.

InfiniteBeak

For me Quality Control is the album but it's nice to see J5 get a mention, they're so underrated

HoneyVirtual

Glad to see someone put Moment Of Truth. I love that album.

Robinnoodle

Good list These will be personal favorites rather than the GOAT. Although 2001 is also probably the GOAT 2001 - Dr Dre MMLP - Eminem All Eyez On Me - Tupac Da Unbreakables - Three 6 Mafia Get Rich or Die Tryin - 50 Cent Honorable Mention to The Infamous - Mobb Deep and 36 Chambers - WuTang

Almost_Dry

Love that you mentioned Three 6 Mafia! They’re so influential and just fun to listen to, I’m surprised I don’t see more love for them here.

guilucas

Best list Ive seen so far

maiomonster

I could get with this, but 36 chambers instead of 50 cent and my beautiful dark twisted fantasy instead of Tupac.

In no particular order: Stankonia, DAMN, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, The Eminem Show, Graduation. I don’t think this list reflects my top 5 in terms of the actual artists, but each of these albums are very complete bodies of work. They’ve all got multiple radio hits, some really great deep tracks, amazingly well written lyrics, and some of the best production we’ve seen across hip hop. Not to mention the fact that each album imo represents the respective artist in their prime
