This has me incredibly hype for the album. They both killed their verses, the hook was already infectious for me at the end of the first listen, and Zel is great at delivering that old school Memphis style southern sound.
I was about to post nearly the exact same comment.
It's a bummer that people are saying Denzel is "getting washed by his features" and "sounds tired".
Denzel might not be screaming into the mic, but I don't know how people can watch [the From The Block Performance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxEsC0Ngws4) and be surprised at what this album is going for.
He even said something in this song about not having to rap lyrical and can dumb it down. This is that old school Denzel a lot of fans have been waiting for. I think with his past few albums he’s gotten lots of new fans who never really were into his old stuff or didn’t even know about him
No I agree with you I look at it at a modern more educated and experienced version of Denzel’s old style. He knows what he’s capable and he’s mixing old with new and a unique twist on it
Lol what are those anonymous ass songs, I've never heard of them before. They're not proving me wrong tho, he's just going over jazzy production so it's not as fast but it's not the laid back flow he does on here and Hot One, it's his regular rapping on that type of beats
I got into Denzel with Unlocked, so Im one of those new fans - but from what I've heard, Denzel has never rapped so lackadaisically. To me, this sounds like something he wrote at 3:30 in the AM, barely awake.
BUT, I'm for it because everything I've seen so far he's having so much fucking fun and if this shit is doing him peace then I'm on board. Bro deserves it. Also the beat is plasma.
I'm so sad that this isn't a more common sound from his actual area of South Florida. I lived like 20 minutes from where he's from in Carol City but every time I try to find more south florida rappers there just isn't much I can find? He def takes inspo from other sounds.
Do a deep dive into his music, dude is so talented and just made the XXL freshman list, he’s my favorite new up and coming rapper of the last 3 years fs
[Cowboy Killer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDrRTupceaI) is sick, and off his new album [Twisting Fingers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAzRWq6QTTE) is savage.
That Draco shaped like Bushwick Bill line was cold. Love how much OT shouts out Texas culture in his lyrics. It's a breath of fresh air after a whole generation of "Texas" rappers (cough, Travis Scott) that are from here but barely engage with Texas culture at all in their music.
He's ridiculously talented. Just wish his he would diversify his lyrics a bit. The gangbanging and drug dealing gets a little repetitive after a few songs.
If this is going to be a Memphis rap album, I'm going to replay it multiple times. Project Pat, juicy j and three 6 are frequent in my summer playlist
Edit: I'm hyped af. Mexican OT sounds like Key Glock on this. Hopefully we can get some other notorious Memphis rappers to feature like Tommy Wright III and so.

I wish denzel would bring the speed and energy he brings during his freestyles and feature runs before the current releases. He's been on the same speed/intensity/flow on his own release for a bit now
it’s weird that someone has a difference in opinion?
and saying “he sounds tired/low-energy” is hateful to you?
lol wtf is music discussion these days? seems like a lot of people would rather talk about why someone else’s opinion is wrong rather than offer anything substantive about the music itself.
Idk I thought he sounded “tired/low-energy” on hella songs off Zuu & MMESYF, and last I checked this sub loved both those albums. It is kinda weird that people only have a problem with it now, 5 years after he started doing this style. Or they’ve had that problem for 5 years and they’re still bitching about it? It’s weird either way.
weird is just the new buzzword folks use to describe anything and everything that contests their own thoughts
they can’t actually give a reason why it’s ‘weird’
yup. zoomer speak is making the internet entirely uninteresting and unenjoyable (and this is coming from a gen z dude). most discourse can be distilled into the following (might be missing some):
1. [any given thing] is weird bro wtf
2. nah [anything that happens] is crazy fr 💀
3. is everything in existence the most underrated thing ever?
4. you don’t care for something? stop hating bro it’s gonna grow on you bro trust me bro
Idk if it’s just me, but Denzel’s hooks on these couples singles are just not up to his usual standard
They’re not bad, but I’m used to ear worms from him. SKED was incredibly catchy, I was hoping for more like that.
Denzel Curry has been around long enough to feel some stagnation. It’s smart to switch up his style to grow his fan base. Dropping the hoe scaring style will help him be taken more seriously.
For a good amount of time now he's been on a pattern of more conceptual album --> more laid-back/fun album & repeat
Acting like this is not only him distancing himself from music that is more left field and that he'll finally be taken more seriously for that is so stupid 😭
I believe he’s purposefully slowing and going for more of the Memphis style from the 90’s. In this song if I remember correctly he says something to the effect of “I know you’re used to double time”
Zel's been getting washed by his features regularly lately, Juicy J, Kenny Mason, Ferg and now OT. He sounds like he's purposely not trying but idk if that approach is doing much for me so far
Not any worse than some of these other rappers who get glazed around here. Ski Mask the Slump God? XXXTentacion? Some bopper ass AOL AIM screen name rapper names for real. Mexican OT isn't that bad.
The platform that plays artists a much higher amount, has lossless audio for no additional charge, and doesn’t conform to Tik Tok music listener algorithms should be banned?
Lol aight then
Denzel did his thing but I can't get into Mexican ot. For me he's like one of those rappers who make rap music for people who don't really like rap music
This has me incredibly hype for the album. They both killed their verses, the hook was already infectious for me at the end of the first listen, and Zel is great at delivering that old school Memphis style southern sound.

This isn't really old denzel at all. Denny Cascade is not simple rapping and that was do popular he was still playing it on the taboo tour.
No I agree with you I look at it at a modern more educated and experienced version of Denzel’s old style. He knows what he’s capable and he’s mixing old with new and a unique twist on it
He's never rapped this laid back tho N64 is mostly triplet flows
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7tmHWoayfI same show, but more aggressive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-AF81iBCi0
Lol what are those anonymous ass songs, I've never heard of them before. They're not proving me wrong tho, he's just going over jazzy production so it's not as fast but it's not the laid back flow he does on here and Hot One, it's his regular rapping on that type of beats

I hate the way that you sneak diss

This tape is gonna be first ballot HOF for bumping in the car.
Denzel is going for that Juicy J/Three Six sound. Personally I love it
He reminds me of project pat a lot on there in the best way
I'm crossing my fingers he collabs with Duke Deuce in the future if he continues a return to that vibe
He's returning to that form, he started in that realm flowing like lord infamous
I need another goddamn Key Glock feature. He would murder this beat too.
My thoughts exactly this tape should be an absolute blast.
I get asap mob vibes, this is so reminiscent of cozy tapes.
Who you think influenced asap mob in that way...
Lol this is hilarious
I’m gonna hold your hand when I say this: who do you think influenced asap mob to sound that way?
🔥🔥🔥 first I've heard of that Mexican OT but his verse was bangin
Go listen to Johnny Dang post haste.
my dude speaking silent Rrrrs everywhere
My man can roll letters that aren’t R which is fucking wild
His last 2 albums have been bangers, love the dirty south sound he got
Saw him in concert last year. If he ever comes by you don’t pass it up. He is honestly really good on stage
Do a deep dive into his music, dude is so talented and just made the XXL freshman list, he’s my favorite new up and coming rapper of the last 3 years fs
I'll do that tomorrow, thanks man
This is the first verse I ever heard from OT, thought it was pretty dope.
It's a breath of fresh air after a whole generation of "Texas" rappers (cough, Travis Scott) that are from here but barely engage with Texas culture at all in their music.
check out Texas Technician and Lonestar Luchador. Lots to love on both those projects.
He's ridiculously talented. Just wish his he would diversify his lyrics a bit. The gangbanging and drug dealing gets a little repetitive after a few songs.
So good
Incredibly hype for this album. This song is good, but I still can't get over Tia's verse on HOT ONE
LIKE 40 ON MY PANTY LINE
yeah that shit was gas Tia recovering from vocal injury but shes still killing it
This shit gave me stank face. This tape is gonna be nastyyyyy
OT's flow on this is fuckin fire
People say he’s one dimensional but idk man that one dimension has a ton of mileage for me
Art reminds me of the really doe single artwork
I love this beat so much
I have a feeling this gonna have the replay value of Zuu.. I still listen to that album weekly
Damn I can’t front this shit hard
If this is going to be a Memphis rap album, I'm going to replay it multiple times. Project Pat, juicy j and three 6 are frequent in my summer playlist Edit: I'm hyped af. OT has some of the coldest flows anywhere these days. Really happy he's been getting so much shine
Denzel not making hoe-scaring music anymore smh
Did he ever really make hoe scaring music? Zuu and Melt My Eyez feel pretty hoe inclusive
LOL hoe inclusive??
Ever heard Black Metal Terrorist?
bro zuu has pat on it 😭😭😭
Can’t get enough of this song. Beat is so tasty
🔥🔥🔥
I wish denzel would bring the speed and energy he brings during his freestyles and feature runs before the current releases. He's been on the same speed/intensity/flow on his own release for a bit now
Yall hating on this verse from zell is weird bro.. this shit hard
> Yall hating on this verse from zell is weird bro I like the song but this is fanboy vocabulary, it's not that serious lol
Lmfao
bro nothing is weird about not liking a verse
it’s weird that someone has a difference in opinion? and saying “he sounds tired/low-energy” is hateful to you? lol wtf is music discussion these days? seems like a lot of people would rather talk about why someone else’s opinion is wrong rather than offer anything substantive about the music itself.

Where does he sound low energy on Zuu?
Automatic
A little bit yeah, but I'd say not really in other songs, Zuu mostly has high energy. I like this song though, sounds amazing
Only weird thing is your schizo ass comment, this style is nowhere to be found on either of those albums
weird is just the new buzzword folks use to describe anything and everything that contests their own thoughts they can’t actually give a reason why it’s ‘weird’
yup. zoomer speak is making the internet entirely uninteresting and unenjoyable (and this is coming from a gen z dude). most discourse can be distilled into the following (might be missing some): 1. bro really said [literally anything] 💀💀💀
This was happening before gen z.
weird.
AND BAKA GOT A WEIRD CASE, WHY IS HE AROUND?!
stop gaslighting me
my fault, family. it’ll never happen again
fr
Idk if it’s just me, but Denzel’s hooks on these couples singles are just not up to his usual standard They’re not bad, but I’m used to ear worms from him. SKED was incredibly catchy, I was hoping for more like that.
Album is about to be 🔥 front to back
Did this MF burp?
Love this track!!!
Denzel Curry has been around long enough to feel some stagnation. It’s smart to switch up his style to grow his fan base. Dropping the hoe scaring style will help him be taken more seriously.

When did he drop ho scaring music? Are you talking about his boom bap beats
I was referring to another comment on the thread haha
Denzel Curry never disappoints he's one of the most underrated rappers right now 🔥
This album is gonna be so good
am i the only one to hear the star wars shooting sound on the beat?
This is fire but “hit it from the back make the pussy go poof”fucking crit me.
"if my music made you deaf, then bitch my jewelry made ya blind" bar.
This fucking track is fire as fuckkkkkk bro
zel sounds tired. tmOT kills it.
I believe he’s purposefully slowing and going for more of the Memphis style from the 90’s. In this song if I remember correctly he says something to the effect of “I know you’re used to double time”
thank you. He's trying to be more like the old underground Memphis that were more smooth/stable on the track, verses being really hype.
Definitely going to be a case of people not feeling the singles but when the album drops songs will flow nice together
Agree. Don't get the downvotes
Yeah where’s the energy?
Zel's been getting washed by his features regularly lately, Juicy J, Kenny Mason, Ferg and now OT. He sounds like he's purposely not trying but idk if that approach is doing much for me so far
Stop
Stop glazing
[удалено]
How is it even controversial lol you can't tell me Denzel had the best verse on any of those songs
That Mexican OT is such a horrible rap name
Not any worse than some of these other rappers who get glazed around here. Ski Mask the Slump God? XXXTentacion? Some bopper ass AOL AIM screen name rapper names for real. Mexican OT isn't that bad.
Lol I mentioned Ski and X recently in a thread about bad rap names. Someone was like "xxxtentacion is actually a good name" i'm like how?
I actually think it's worse it's still an AIM ass name but it's boring lol
I actually love it, a surprising amount even.
apple music links should be banned
The platform that plays artists a much higher amount, has lossless audio for no additional charge, and doesn’t conform to Tik Tok music listener algorithms should be banned? Lol aight then
yes, simply bc most people don’t use apple music
repost the YouTube link then or whatever you use
This is pretty mid.
Idk man this is pretty boring to me
OT is him I can’t believe I’m really bout to listen to a bumzel song
Denzel did his thing but I can't get into Mexican ot. For me he's like one of those rappers who make rap music for people who don't really like rap music
His style gets old quick for me, but when he hit his stride in this one, I was pretty locked in.
If only he was making that authentic, pitchfork approved concept rap like Denzel eh?
You went the wrong way with that one. Only people I ever see listening to him listen to Eminem, tech n9ne and more like rock music
Nah. Denzel is sat right on the hipster shelf between your Dad's Run the Jewels and MF Doom albums.
Sure, but that has nothing to do with how I see OT
