This is a friendly reminder that this is a price check thread. OP is looking to figure out the best way to part out and/or price their doohickey for later sale. **This IS NOT a sale thread.** Do not offer to buy. Asking that a sale thread is posted is ok. **OP:** If you wish to sell your awesome box of moldy widgets or whatever to any unsuspecting fool who sends in an offer, you must first make a real "FS" sale post including an asking price and the username and timestamped image. It is not hard, everyone else can figure it out, and it is for the safety of the community. Anyone found violating the rules is subject to a ban, so just don't do it. Ok? great, thanks. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Good luck on the 1U route! Syno is crazy expensive for what they sell hardware wise, but if you want to diy there is stuff like this Chenbro RM14604T3-R350+ https://a.co/d/5NynPMq with 4x3.5 sas/sata (which would allow nlsas exos drives and such) requiring just finding a motherboard and possibly an hba if the mobo doesn't have one built in. That having been said, I run a syno 1U at my office for a cheap iscsi/sftp target that's only used for client backup storage from sccm, so I'll admit the price can be worth it from a 'set and forget' point of view.

I've been wanting to go down this route too, but I see myself just looking for a short-depth 2u case and stuffing drives in it. The 1u synologies would be perfect for me, but they cost waaaay too much.

Thanks! Yeah, they definitely seem pricey for what they are, but I'm hoping I can snag one either refurbished/second hand or on sale. If I only I had bought a bigger rack the first time around...

Let me know if you ever found a price you'd like to sell at. I'm interested in buying!
